FIRST COLONIAL MASONRY

Both jobs have turned out to be a nightmare. Mr. Johnson failed to put up any protective barriers and the soot and dust went everywhere. He left dozens of whole bricks in the attic, heavy sections of flu in the attic and on the second floor, and mortar and brick chips everywhere. The structure he built had numerous problems making it unusable. The whole installation was out of square by nearly two inches and out of plumb 1/2" over a 4' span. The installation overall was not uniform in appearance. There were bricks that were not level and mortar joints that were inconsistent in width and not pointed up. The contractor did not ensure that the adjacent mechanical equipment was protected. He ran a gas line through the masonry structure without a protective ferule. When confronted by my wife about these issues he blew up and blamed the cabinet installers for his sub-standard work and walked off telling us he would fix it sometime after he returned from a two-week vacation.
