CONTE'S BICYCLES & FITNESS EQUIPMENT

I wanted to get new tires on it but they swayed me away and told me that the old ones were good. I just needed the bicycle to be lubricated. They actually saved me a lot of money. If customers don't need anything, they tell them and they sway them away from having to spend a lot of money. They're very good. Their truthfulness stands out to me. It was done when they said it will be.

Great!!! I have always been a customer of Conte's . I went to tier Va. Beach store in Dec . Wow what a selection. There were so many makes and colors you could spend hours just browsing . The staff there was fantastic .They were curtious and knowedgable and no high pressure . Most of them were cyclest themselves . They gave me a great deal and loaded my bike in my car. They are very nice. It is really cool. They have a big selection, a lot of different styles. It was pretty hassle free. It wasn't too complicated. I would think their prices are a little higher than Wal-mart but they have quality products. The people who work there usually have some kind of sport or cycling background so they are very knowledgable. You get what you pay for.

I was in the market for matching beach cruisers for my wife and I. After shopping around a little bit, I dropped into Conte's to see what was offered. They had a several beach cruisers. None struck my wife's eye, but a blue Boss model seemed appealing to me. I stood over the bike and took a little ride around the parking lot. I came back and told the sales associate that I liked the bike, but that the 23" frame seemed a bit small (I'm 6'4"). The salesman assured me that Boss did not make any larger frames, that I just needed to adjust the seat, and that I wouldn't find a better deal anywhere else. With his assurances and my lack of education, I bought the bike. On the way home, I drove by another shop (FreeWheelin') and decided to stop in for a look. Lo and Behold, they had the exact same Boss cruiser with a 26" frame for much less. They even had a matching ladies Boss cruiser that my wife liked. I had the salesman hold these for me and drove immediately back to Conte's. When I asked to return the bike, the manager/owner(?), perhaps Mr. Conte himself (a very large man), came up and intervened. He was extraordinarily rude and tried to tell me that since I had already left the store and ridden the bike (on my test drive in HIS parking lot!) that I could not return the bike! When I made it clear that I WAS RETURNING THE BIKE and that he needed to issue an immediate refund in order to keep the situation from getting very ugly, he rudely ordered the salesman to do what it took to get me out of there. He never once apologized or offered any contrition for his salesman's lack of honesty and pressure selling. Needless to say that I will never buy anything from Conte's and would urge everyone else to stay away as well.

Conte's did a great job. They came out to the car and helped me load and unload the bike. they fixed the flat and did all the adjustments. The bike was even ready a day earlier then had been promised

David Runyon helped me to choose an economical bike helmet that fit my needs. As a former FEMALE mountain bike racer, I am very aware of not being taken seriously by bike shop employees. Mr. Runyon was GREAT. Very professional and respectful even though he did not know my history. He was very polite and also suggested add-on purchases. I will definitely return to this Conte's location for more items.
