Zero Stars. Zero out of Ten. Zero out of a Million. Choosing One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning was easily THE BIGGEST MISTAKE my wife and I have made in 15 years of home ownership. If you are considering One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning in Virginia Beach to be your HVAC professionals, BUYER BEWARE. Given the urgent need for HVAC in our climate, and the very technical nature of servicing HVAC, there is a certain intimacy in choosing your provider. The HVAC professionals you choose have your trust. To name only two … 1. You trust them with your comfort. Especially on those ferocious days where the heat index is 105 or more. And 2. You trust them to be technically competent, and honest in the service they provide. We trusted One Hour, and it ended up being a catastrophic mistake for us. They either took advantage of our trust and maliciously schemed to take over $12,000 from us. Or, they are so inept that we spent over $12,000 paying for their technical incompetence and awful craftsmanship on more than two years of service failures. In either case, we suffered perpetual discomfort — while buying into their MANY “service guarantees” — as we threw good money at bad until they broke their commitment to us. Ask your neighbor, or read on these forums, do most people see their HVAC professionals five times a year to maintain ‘comfortable’ living? Almost certainly not. This highlights One Hour’s negligence via their vicious scheming or categorical incompetence. Whether malicious or incompetent their negligence is buoyed by their Bulls*it ‘satisfaction guarantees.’ Take their “U-win” guarantee for example. We called ‘U-win,’ and a ‘U-win’ rep got in touch with Todd Kletz, the OWNER of this entirely negligent organization. Our U-win rep confirmed that Mr. Kletz and One Hour welched on every single ‘guarantee’ his people sold us over the years. Satisfaction? Comfort? Property Protection? None of the above! They took our money AND our service records and will no longer communicate with us. Suffice to say, our experience with One Hour was awful. They damaged our home, and took our money in a pattern of outrageously negligent ‘service.’ That brutal combination of incompetence and dishonesty was harmful to us, and betrayed One Hour’s completely vacant litany of ‘satisfaction’ guarantees. And, as a result … * We do not have ceilings in the first floor of our home as a result of water damage, * Water damage which is a result of One Hour’s negligence. * We suffered a vicious Virginia Beach summer without functioning HVAC, * Our HVAC’s failure to function is a result of One Hour’s negligence. * In all, we had a ~5 year relationship with them, * They cost us more than $12,000, * They damaged our home on two separate occasions, * Our ‘comfort’ and ‘satisfaction’ were NEVER achieved, because * Our ‘comfort’ and ‘satisfaction’ have required more than 25 service visits, AND * (Here is the real kicker) * Two years and one week after we signed a service agreement, * (significant because by contract they are legally obligated to their work for two years) … * They left us without functioning HVAC. * CRUELLY, ON A 105 DEGREE DAY, A ONE HOUR SERVICE TECH WALKED OUT OF OUR HOME LEAVING US WITHOUT FUNCTIONING HVAC * Further, he did so on the orders of some bully in a manager role. This bully continues to refuse to engage in reasonable conversation — AND * We still need work to repair our home AND to fix the mess they made of our HVAC.

We recently had One Hour service technicians inspect our non-functioning AC unit and were charged $600 for repairs and services. Our AC unit still does not work, and they tried to pressure us into buying a brand new AC unit, without consulting other AC companies. We ultimately chose to go with a different company, after we were a quoted a better deal, and they are now threatening us to pay additional fees for not accepting their contract. According to their terms of service, if we are unsatisfied with their performance, we are entitled to our money back. They are not only refusing to refund us, but asking for an additional $1800 for breaking a contract that we never signed or committed to. This is harassment and grossly unprofessional. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.

Critical: Quality, Value Showed up late at night to our new home and continued to complete a great job to help me out with air quality in our home. I have severe allergies and me and my kids were all getting sick from the filters not being done. The technician was very nice and knowledgeable. Edit 7 months later. Okay after 5 service checks and 2 system power guard filters on both units and a complete replace of 1 of the units or air is still not working upstairs! It's been over a hundred degrees outside with heat index and even after spending thousands on thousands of dollars nobody ever checked the ducts. Now the company is saying they are too busy to complete the duct work in my home during the summer so since I've spent 10,000 dollars in 7 months I still even with the comfort package upgrade still have to sweat in our bedrooms the entire summer before they can replace it. On top of that they didn't do the full inspection prior to installing me and charging me for the new outside unit. Plus because the previous technicians and the install crew didn't check this prior to our unit install we probably didn't even need it since it's still not working and we have no air. They want to charge me more money to fix something that should've already been repaired prior or at least addressed. Very ? ☹ ? and sweating with 4 kids and an elderly grandmother. If you need air and need it done right don't use this company. They might be nice but they just want your ?!

We have a monthly contract and a part broke and it covered it so that contract covered itself. Very reliable.

I cannot tell anyone enough how great this company is to work with. Jay the service tech went above and beyond to save the day when an animal got into my air conditioning compressor. Even though it is not a service they typically provide, rather than have me wait and pay additional cost to remove the (now dead) animal before doing any inspection, he (b/c like me is squeamish) got a Gene his co-worker to come back with him and within an hour what I thought would take days to resolve was done. Additionally, the wait times from call to service have always been negligible, and all their staff is always courteous and caring. They are also the only company I have ever used where a followup call to ensure my satisfaction occurred minutes after the work was finished. I recommend this company and their affiliate Timely Electric without reservation. Today I became a customer for life.

We had a very old boiler system in our old house. They were familiar with it and were able to fix it. It was all covered under warranty. They do stand up to their guarantee to be there within an hour of the schedule time. They're clean, professional and knowledgeable. They left the area perfect. It took them two hours to complete the service.

Upon arrival I was first pitched the history of the company along with "customer level pricing" before any work was started. It took approximately 20 minutes for the pitch and another 30 minutes for the technician and his apprentice to evaluate the problem. Which was no heat. The main problem was that the aluminum wiring melted the old out dated electrical connector for power. The tech. then checked the "Heating Element", which was still intact and functioning along with both capacitors for the air handler fan and the A/C compressor outside. Which had nothing to do with the main problem. The tech. was then on the phone for 1 hour trying to find the "Heating Element". He claimed that there was one located in Chesapeake, VA and he also had to go to an electrical supply in Virginia Beach for the new connector and the capacitors. He was gone for 3 hour's and came back w/ the electrical connector and 2 capacitors, but not the "Heating Element", which was on order. It then took both the technician and his helper outdoors, about 15 minutes each to install the 2 new capacitors. Which never needed replacing. I was presented with a bill for $426.00. Which consisted of the initial "Evaluation Fee", normally known as a "Service Fee", of $69.00. Along with $119.00 for each repair that totaled $357.00. Remember what I said regarding the actual "WORKING TIME" to replace those components, which was a total of 15 minutes between the 2 people. In checking on line @ an electrical supply company for those exact capacitors, the cost of each was less than $6.00. So I paid $426.00 for $12.00 worth of parts and $414.00 in labor for 15 minutes of work. On top of the sales pitch I was sold a "Home Protection Plan", consisting of another "ONE TIME APPLICATION FEE (includes 1 st month's investment) of $25.90 with a monthly investment of $12.95. Which apparently gives me a 30% discount on repairs. Along with guaranteed service within 24 hours. I still have to pay the evaluation fee of $69.00. I am still trying to get refunded my "Home Protection Plan".

(Price) I thought they were really high. (Quality) They do pretty good work. (Punctuality) They came out the same day. (Used again) Yes. Other than pricing they are good. Just one (came to do the service). (He took) about 30 minutes.

Semi-annually they come out and they do a maintenance thing. They check the system. On the spring, they will focus on the airconditioning. On the fall, they would focus on the heating, which I haven't had done yet, but I need to do that pretty quick, and they'll also make any recommendations based on what they will find. They're As across the board.

There were two general systems. One was around $7,500 and one was right around $10,000. Pricing was little bit high. Let's list the $10,000 because that was the one that was recommended.

Even though it was a holiday the company had technicians on call. He showed up within two hours of the initial call. He correctly diagnosed the problem. He did not have the part but was able to call another technician who had one in his truck. He retrieved it and completed the repair. He explained everything he was doing and was very knowledgeable on the system.

The technician arrived on time and was very professional.  He serviced the air conditioning system and discovered that the dual capacitor was getting ready to fail soon.  He showed me the part and recommended that I replace it since he didn't think it would last through the summer.  He replaced the part and completed the rest of the service.  Once complete he filled out the paperwork and provided me with a thorough and detailed explanation of the status of the system.  I was impressed by his knowledge and he encouraged me to ask questions.  Overall it was a very positive experience and I even signed up for their comfort club membership.
