Beach Street Auto Care

I was in a parking lot stranded in my wife's 2007 Toyota Sienna minivan which has never had an issue. When I tried starting the  vehicle there was a constant ticking noise,  no dimming of lights and all power sliding doors and windows functioned at normal speeds. I assumed it was my starter. I called USAA insurance for a tow and requested it  be taken to Beach Street Auto. In the 1.5 hours I waited for  the tow truck to arrive I charged my phone and had the radio on while trying to start the van every 20 minutes or so....no drain on lights or sound of engine even trying to turn over, just ticking.  I called Beach Street Auto and inquired and quickly received a fair price for replacement of a starter. Once we arrived at Beach Street they directed my van into a bay and a very friendly technician said he wanted to check the battery first. I approved but told him I was positive it was the starter....He hooked the battery booster up and the van started right up! The technician then said let it run for a few minutes after which he restarted the vehicle a few times ensuring the problem was the battery. My vehicle spent about 15 minutes in their bay.  I asked what I owed and he said NOTHING!!!!   
Auto repair shops are not well known for their honesty, Terry of Beach Street Auto and his employees are the rare exception in the industry. I would have easily and happily paid a couple hundred dollars for a new starter and never known the difference. Most repair shops would not have gone the extra mile to diagnose and if they did I doubt they would have let me know.

They were formally under the franchise BIG AL's MUFFLER & BRAKES, so same great people under a new name.
