Buyer beware. I contracted All Nations Floors (True name YC Flooring), to install engineered wood floors throughout my first floor. The owner was responsive until he received the downpayment to cover materials. He then sub-contracted the job to another individual and day laborer. The did the following: -Failed to install the invoiced moisture barrier, and refused to rip up the 200+ sqf installed and start over. -Damaged my walls and the new flooring through terrible workmanship -Did not install to manufacture guidelines or industry standards. This resulted with me suing the company in small claims court. The process lasted over 5 months, and the judge ruled in my favor. All Nations never showed up. They have owed me aprx $2,000 since October 2016. It is now June 2017. The owner continuously avoids my letters, calls, and process servers. The attached photos show a few examples of the terrible workmanship, planks installed directly against the base boards, scratches of new planks from work boots grinding demo'd tile chips into it, and my uncovered air vent where they decided to sweep tile remnants into.

The initial installation went pretty well, but the electrician left before the thermostat check was done. I had to work with the manufacturer to get a red alert to go off. The thermostat was in idle over the summer but when I activated in the fall of 2013, I got another alert. I called the manufacturer, but couldn't get it to work. I called All Nations and told them it might defective. It took constant calling before a new electrician came out. He determined a replacement thermostat was needed. I was repeatedly told by All Nations that it was on order, but was subsequently told in late December that the order slipped through the cracks. I waited another month (with constant calling) before the electrician came back with the thermostat; however, he did a good job, and it worked over rest of the winter. In the meantime the transition was coming up. I went through the same long process. In June 2014, I was astonished to get a bill for $700 from the electrician, with a threat of a subcontractor's lien on my property. I called him, and he apologized but said that he hadn't been paid by All Nations for the work done in January. I called All Nations and they said there was a dispute over the fee but it had been taken care of and payment was being sent. I called the electrician a month later to make sure he was dropping the lien threat, but he said that he still hadn't been paid. I called All Nations and apparently the dispute was still ongoing. I finally gave up and hoped for the best. (I don't think the electrician followed through on the lien.) In March 2015, my year old thermostat went out again. I'm going to bypass All Nations and try to get it fixed myself. In the meantime, some of the floor has "unclicked" and some transition is coming up.

Yossi was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He was open and honest in answering all of our questions. He took the time to understand our desires, our budget, and our vision for our home and translated them into a flooring design. There was no "hard sell" at any time, which was appreciated! The install was quick and efficient, and Yossi was present often to QA the work. But most impressive was the final QA walkthrough, in which Yossi found minor, nitpick details that I would never have noticed, pronounced them unacceptable, and promised prompt resolution. One other thing to add is that our house was full of dust and dirt due to the work crew...Yossi promised to send over a cleaning kit. Yossi is a class act who treats his customers like gold. Absolute professional!
AN UPDATED REVIEW. I must redact our final impression of All Nations. It has been almost 5 weeks since Yossi installed our floors. After calling him several times to make an appointment for him to come and fix what was pronounced unacceptable, we have yet to see him. Caution: although our floors look great with the exception of a few glitches, do NOT give All Nations your final payment UNTIL you are completely satisfied with the job.

After we bought our vacation condo, in September, 2013, we immediately called Joseph Gatlin at All Nations Floor & Design Center, since he and his employees had previously done an absolutely superb job of replacing two floors of carpeting with hardwood flooring in our primary Victorian home. (See our prior Angie?s List review of that project, dated, 02/03/2013.) Joseph immediately met with us at the condominium to view what needed to be done and discuss our options. We then met at his new showroom to look at samples, and for the second project, as with the first, we found the perfect flooring at a very reasonable price. Joseph?s suggestions and recommendations were spot-on, and he went out of his way to outline for us how we could save money by using low-cost alternatives that would not negatively affect the finished product. His team of people did the installation within one week, and the condominium staff complimented him and us, saying that the All Nations workers were the most professional and courteous that they had encountered and were a joy to deal with. In particular, they were enthusiastic about Joseph, especially because he proactively asked what the condominium rules were for contractors and then ensured that he and his people followed them to the letter. The entire project was completed ahead of time and at the agreed-upon cost. We are delighted with the quality and workmanship ? and, in particular with Joseph?s responsiveness. When we found one spot with a bit of space between boards (probably something that no one but us would notice !), Joseph immediately came out and re-did the section at no cost. As before, we are WOWed by the quality, service, and the finished product. A real estate agent who routinely handles listings for this upscale condominium complex visited our condo while she was conducting an open house of other units and told us that ours has the best décor of any of the units that she has seen, specifically complimenting the flooring. In summary, we strongly recommend Joseph and All Nations Floor & Design Center!

The paint chipped immediately after it was done. We tried to work with them to have them fix the work. They were not helpful in the situation.

This project involved replacing all of the wall-to-wall carpet on the second and third floors of our Norfolk 1886 Victorian home with approximately 1,250 feet of new hardwood flooring. We had planned this project for some time but had waited years to tackle it,
because we knew that it would be a massive project, not knowing what we would find when the carpet was removed because of the age and settling of the house. We selected All Nations Floors & Design Center based on the strong recommendation of a friend of ours who is very satisfied with the work that the firm did with repairing the hardwood flooring in her century-old home and on the strength of the reviews on Angie?s List.
We made an appointment to meet with Joseph Gatlin, the owner, at our home. He was right on time (as he and his people were throughout the project.) After looking at the areas involved, he discussed what needed to be done with us and told us that his people could start work immediately. We met Mr. Gatlin again at the Design Center to select the flooring and discuss pricing, and we were impressed not only with his obvious expertise but also with his fine sense of design. After he toured our home, he told us that he knew which product and finish he would recommend to us, and when he showed his selection to us, we agreed that his choice of solid oak flooring with a Java finish was exactly right. The flooring that he showed us was essentially the same as another, more expensive flooring product that he carries in the showroom, but Mr. Gatlin recommended that we not spend money on the higher-priced flooring unnecessarily, since the products are identical in terms of quality and warranty. We also discussed our concern about one of the rooms on the third floor, which had settled in such a way that the flooring at the outside wall was five inches higher than on the opposite inside wall. Mr. Gatlin let us know the extent of the significant work (and risks) that would be involved in tearing up the plywood subflooring underneath the carpet in that room and rebuilding the subfloor so that the room would be level. When we told him how important it was to us that the room be level, he agreed to take on the additional work for a very reasonable price, and that level of cooperative discussion was characteristic of our experience with him and his people throughout the project. Mr. Gatlin also agreed to schedule the work in such a way that would minimize the day-to-day impact on us, working room by room and on one floor at a time. We signed the contract that day and made the first of three payments.
We very much appreciated Mr. Gatlin?s continual focus on helping us ensure that we didn?t spending unnecessary money during the project, and he pointed out several opportunities to save money without sacrificing quality. We were also very impressed with Mr. Gatlin?s continual emphasis, throughout the project, on making sure that we stayed comfortable with the process and the results. He called us daily to discuss the progress and the schedule for the following day, and he gave us his cell phone number so that we could reach him directly. He turned out to be accessible whenever we needed him, and it was very helpful to be able to call him whenever we had a question or concern. That great customer focus and service carried through the entire project. The All Nations workers were all polite and respectful of our home. They started work when promised and worked efficiently. All of our requests (some a bit nit-picky, we admit) were addressed. The finished floors are well-installed and absolutely gorgeous. We will definitely use All Nations Floors and Design Center in the future (the existing hardwood flooring on our first floor needs to be refinished) and highly recommend the firm for the quality of its work and its personal and responsive service.

All around the floor install was excellent; the sales team did a great job assisting me in selecting a floor and I can be a difficult customer. Following my purchase they did all the work contacting my builder to get the install completed. I approved of their work and was very happy with the final product, however the real indicator was when the builders carpenter came by and complemented the craftsmanship of the install. It's a good floor installed well...

All Nation's Flooring is the absolute epitome of workmanship, professionalism, and class. Joseph's staff were a polite, considerate, and extremely hardworking group of men and women. Particularly what I really enjoyed about my entire experience with All Nation's was the purchasing experience. The owner himself sat down with my wife and I and he provided his input as to what he thought would be best for US, not his own pockets. When we were looking at a particular product for our flooring, he instructed us to downgrade one step because it would be cheaper for us with the same results. Many other contractors would have sold us the more expensive product at a higher profit margin for themselves, but with All Nation's he may have lost a few dollars on the sale, but he has gained a customer for life. He provided hardwood floors, tile for our kitchen floor, and a beautiful back splash. Each of those purchases came with installation that specializes in that particular installation. At one point we had All Nation's contractors in our home at the same time as another company's and there was no comparison when it came to quality. We were extremely disappointed in our OTHER contractor that was working in our home. The All Nation's employees were hardworking, considerate, and very clean. The owner Joseph also came by our home every single day of the process to make sure everything was up to his personal standards. If the quality wasn't good enough to be in his own home, he would not put it in someone else's. Joseph also helped us many times when he received no profit at all! He referred us to a blinds specialist, a great plumber, and even a quality handyman. He even knew our realtor! He has developed a reputation for quality, reliability, and a fair price. I was truly dumbfounded when I saw my invoice, I was expecting to pay double! We constantly receive compliments on how gorgeous our home looks, because of Joseph and his company. I WILL use All Nation's for future projects since he does just about everything, and I have been recommending him to my friends. Go with All Nation's Flooring, you will not be disappointed and you will not regret it.

The whole process went smoothly. Old floors had to be taken out, subfloor laid, pocket doors cut, new floor laid, stained, molding replaced. A lot of work. Each worker was professional and communicative.

Here?s a log of details:
Mid-Oct 2012- Called All Nations Floors (on Little Creek Military Base) 1240 Gator Blvd, Bldg #3126, Virginia Beach VA 23459
(Phone 757-318-6620) after seeing their display at their store. Charles Jordan (Chuck) a sales representative, visited us in a few days later and told us about the stair products, services and process.
Oct 26 ? We signed the contract on October 26, 2012 and were told by the salesperson, Charles Jordan,
that it would take 3 weeks to build the treads. We paid them the
full amount due of $3900.00 via credit card. We asked about a partial payment
until the job was completed but they said they didn?t allow this
since we were paying by credit card. They told us that they would be
in touch soon to schedule the installation. We felt comfortable
with this arrangement since we were making the purchase on a military
facility and are a military retiree family.
Week of Nov 25: We hadn?t heard anything at all from All Nations
so we called and left a voice message at store to call us with an
update.
Dec 4- Rec'd voice mail message response requesting appointment to bring out a sample of
the new tread to check the color. Charles Jordan came out a few
days later with the new tread to check the color. It was fine. He told us
installation would begin Dec 11, 2012 at about 8:30 a.m. and that it would
only take a few days to complete the job.
Tues Dec 11: Installation Day #1. No one showed
up. No one called. At about 10:30 am, we called Charles
Jordan and left several messages with a lady at the store at the store
on the military base. No response.
Thurs Dec 13: We received a call from
Joseph Gatlin, owner of the company, who said he wanted to come out
to confirm that the color of the stain was correct.
Frustrated.....I told him that it seemed strange to be confirming
colors two days after installation was scheduled and no one had showed.
Mr. Gatlin avoided answering questions or supplying explanations. When I asked why no one called to cancel the
Dec 11 installation, he said that Mr. Jordan was on vacation. My response
was that Mr. Jordan has a phone. He then said he needed to come to
our house that night to check on the color. We weren't getting
anywhere with the discussion so we just agreed to that. He came out,
confirmed the color and rescheduled the installation for Mon, Dec 17, 2012.
Monday, Dec 17: Installation Day #2. No one showed up. No one called.
At about 10:30 am, we called Charles Jordan and left a voice
message. He called back in several minutes to say that the
installer was sick and no one would be coming out that day. When we
asked why no one called to let us know earlier that morning, they
said that they had difficulty reaching the installer. I asked why
they couldn?t have called us anyway just to let us know there was a
problem. Response: They hadn?t gotten in touch with him yet.
Mon afternoon, Dec 17: We went to the store on the Base and met with
Charles and Joseph. Told them we wanted our money back and
to cancel the contract. Throughout the discussion that followed, Mr.
Gatlin (the owner) would repeatedly brag about the excellent work and
reputation of his company and promised us that we would be very satisfied
with the results. When we told him of our inconvenience with two days of
no-shows, he spoke of HIS inconvenience when he left his family the
evening of Dec 13 to come out to our house to confirm the color
of the treads. I couldn?t believe what I was hearing. After much
"discussion", they offered us (and we accepted) a $390 discount in
writing to compensate us for the two missed appointments and promised that
they would be there on Wednesday 19th and said they would complete
the job by Dec 21st. (Charles initiated the $390 offer while Joseph
seemed to balk at the idea of the offer.) Since the treads were already built and we
preferred not to start this project all over from scratch, we
agreed.....but somehow felt there were more problems to come.
Wed Dec 19: Installer came out. Removed carpet, most of the
balusters, installed risers and only 4 of the treads but had to stop the
installation early afternoon when they discovered a flaw in the
measurements. The pie shaped stair treads and three other stair
treads had been measured incorrectly, were the wrong size and had to be
remade. They said they would remake the treads and return on Dec 21,
2012 to install them and complete the job.
Fri Dec 21: The installers returned, removed the remaining
balusters and installed the remaining stair treads. At the end of the day,
many of the removed balusters were damaged beyond repair. The ends of them were
shattered. But during the day, when we weren?t looking the installer had reinstalled them. (See
attached photos of broken balusters) When questioned about that, he said he
could repair them with putty. When we protested, he agreed to replace them.
They didn't bring trim materials so i called Charles Jordan. He said he
would have the trim done. After discussion on the type of trim,
the installer said they would return on Christmas Eve to install new
balusters and trim.
Mon, Dec 24,: Installer called Xmas eve morning. They had to order the trim
molding and it is not in yet so they will return on Thursday, Monday
Dec 27th when it comes in.
Thurs Dec 27: We called installer at 9:30 am to see when he
might be coming. The molding is not in yet so they will return tomorrow
Fri Dec 28: The installer
called at 9:30 am to tell us he was not coming this morning because he had
another job but would try to come this afternoon.
Charles Jordan called at about 11:00 am. We told him about the
no-shows and the broken balusters and sent him pictures of the broken
balusters. He said he would reassign the completion to another installer
who would start on Jan 3rd. By now, we were just numb with disapointment.
Thurs Jan 3: Charles Jordan and the owner, Joseph Gatlin, and the new
installer came out to look at the stairs. They found that 2 of the wood
risers were uneven and overlapping and had to be replaced and that all of the
balusters had to be removed and replaced with new ones. They said
they would have to order balusters and that they would be in the following week
but my husband directed them to a local millworker which allowed
them to pick them up within a few minutes. Joseph Gatlin complained that
he had to pay more money in this case for the balusters t

The entire experience from start to fish was magnificent. Went to Joint Naval Base Little Creek for ideas and left out with a much wanted new hardwood floor to replace carpet on first level of home. First level is a high traffic area and was tired of having carpet cleaned regularly. The sales staff a the base was very professional and the installation crew was very professional and knowledgable. Home's about eight years old and one of the door frames wasn't put in square, so that would through off the adjoining rooms flooring. Knowlegable installation crew, through combined knowledge, came up with a very professional decision and fix. unless I told you exactly what they told me and show you the spot they were talking about you'd never know it. Thanks Chuck, Bruce, James, and Eric for a great experience.

They were wonderful.. They did the work as quickly as they could. First they removed the carpet and crestwood underneath it. They also tore out and replaced some boards. They then installed no plywood before they installed the hardwood flooring hardwood.
They were good, efficient, and cleaned up after themselves.

They do not want to come back out to work on my floor so I do not recommend them. Their original installation was fantastic; they did a beautiful job. The bubbles started showing about a year ago. We have a 25-year warranty on the floor but he will not do anything to fix the floor. The original price was good and they were on time.

I used this company as a direct repair contractor through USAA. I had water damage to my hardwood floors and they replaced 2 bedrooms and refinished the rest of the house. The 2 rooms with the new wood look good the remainder of the floors have gaps between the boards that they did not fill with wood filler. My wife was working nightshift during this process and the crew was supposed to show up at noon everyday but typically got there at 2-3 then only worked until 430 so it delated progress. I will not use them in the future. I have used Peninsula Hardwood floors in the past and should have used them again.

Terrible, bordering on criminal. The initial quote was incredibly high, but I was willing to pay it because I was short on time and expected quality. The team was sullen, non-communicative, and took offense at questions. They ruined freshly painted walls in each room they worked in. Substituted inferior materials for what was contracted, and became angry when confronted. Removed my toilet and refrigerator and then refused to move them back into the house. There was no communication between sales and team. Stain was applied unevenly, leaving puddle marks. Dark stain was dripped onto lighter floor. Deep ruts left in floor by power sander. Dust everywhere with the "dust free" equipment that they half the time didn't even turn on. Left dust and debris all over the house and yard. Final finish of floors was as coarse as sandpaper. What a mistake.

Install went perfectly. There was little waste, it was complete in 2 days. No callback has been required.
There could have been better communication from the salesman and us re delays in the schedule.
There was some mis-communication about method of payment. I was planning to put it all on the credit card, they expected the second payment by check at the completion of the job.
I would not hesitate to use them again. The quality of their work has not decreased in the 5 years that we have been doing business.

They did really well. I like them. I spent $4000 on that work but that was part of an insurance plan.
