I wrote my review in December 2013 when the work was first performed. A few months after work was completed I noticed a bump near the area where they put in hardwood when they took out floor vent. The space was approximately 2 feet by 2 feet. Since then I have had to have a foundation specialist repair some floor joists that were negatively impacted by the repair. I now how the flooring splintering, the wood he put down is NOT the same width as the original is is wider. I asked him to come back which he did. He denied any wrong doing and told me I had termites. I rescind the original great review I gave them. The most recent quote I received to repair it is $1,800. I would never hire this company again.

The owner John came on time and gave me a written estimate. I have dealt with him three times before in the same home. The first time he sanded and refinished my downstairs floor they looked GREAT! Not one complaint I found and trust me I scanned the floor. (2009). The second time around 2010-2011 he sanded and refinshed my steps and hallway and they looked awful and still looked old and dull. He came over and explained that the wood was different on the steps and hallway then downstairs. So I guessed there was nothing else that I could do about it. It appeared to me that the floor was only coated and never sanded. I took his word and decided to let him do my guest bedroom (2012) and it turned out wonderful. I looked and couldn't find one thing to complain about. This year when I went to get my bedroom refinshed and sand I was very specific and told him I wanted it to look just like the bedroom and downstairs because they are beautiful. I again told him I hated the steps and hallway but he again told me there is nothing the could be done with it. He assured me that they was going to make the bedroom look like the other rooms that I loved. Tthe workers was on time and very professional. They came in and sanded and refinshed then floor the first day in about three hours. They came back the next day and put another coat on the floor to dry. When I got off of work I noticed that they had dropped liquid all over my hardwood floors in the hallway. I immediately called John and he told me he would be by to get check and fix the problem. He did come like promised. On that night I was allowed to go and walk on the floor. I couldn't believe my eyes. There was so much trash inside the shine and none of the nail holes was filled. This floor looks awful. I didn't call John and give him the opportunity to fix it because he saw it before me. I'm done with his company and I urge you to think twice about Abraham and Sons. They used to be a wonderful company but the attention to detail is gone. I don't know it's a new crew but I'm so disappointed. Never again!

They did a horrible job--left gouges and irregularities with the sanding equipment, did only one coat for the finish which is very rough and tacky. But the worst thing is that they dragged some type of equipment over the floor around the foot of the stairs and left huge scratches. Since the floor is prefinished it will be next to impossible to fix this. I thought of calling them back but why bother as they obviously have no idea what they are doing. I hope this saves someone else the heartache and trouble.

EXCELLENT!!!!! EXCELLENT!!!!!!!! EXCELLENT!!!!
When I called I was able to set up an appointment with John that same day. When he arrived (on time) he was professional, and courteous. He listened to my needs and then clearly explained what would be involved, the length of time needed and the cost. He is very customer service oriented! The work was completed on time, it was done very, very well and above my expectations.
The men (Tim, Corey, Earl) he had do the work were also very professional and customer service oriented, nothing was a problem for them. They helped me pull up the nails (which I agreed to do before they arrived) and did it without any sign of irritation at having extra work to do. They were clearly interested in making sure that they kept any disruption to a minimum, that the work was done well and to my satisfaction. If my stove did not need replacing I would have baked them cookies.

No attention to detail, no pride in their work, won't come back to fix mistakes once they get paid. Dealing with their excuses is simply not worth it - there are plenty of other hardwood floor refinishing companies out there.

Very prompt response, and quick to start. Lacking in attention to details- did not mask baseboards with tape or paper so I have stain and polyurethane to clean off the baseboards, used power sander too close to a threshold and sanded down an edge of a porcelain tile, got stain and poly on carpet at another threshold, broke bottom of door trim and took broken piece with them. Simple steps could have been taken to prevent these items, and telling us they sanded the tile, got stain on carpet, or broke the molding would have meant a lot vs us having to discover them. You can't investigate the area for 8-10 hours because the floor is wet, and the next day they are back early, so 2 days pass before you can see items. Happy with the floor finish but disappointed in their concern for collateral damage.

I originally received an estimate from Tim to refinish the 991 sq ft of wood flooring I have in my house. Tim was very professional and was able to quickly give me an estimate. I was shocked to see the estimate of nearly half of what two other companies in the area gave to me. A few days later I spoke to John, the owner, and discussed what I wanted. The original estimate did not include stain, but it only added $0.50 per sq ft. John worked with me and did not require a deposit since I live out of state. One minor thing that went wrong was the service was not started on the original date due to an error in creating the work order. I spoke to John about that and we were able to work things out. He provided a third person to help expedite the work. Tim, Corey and Earl (if I spelled those names correctly) were the three men who came to work on the floors. They did a wonderful job throughout the entire process and did not seem to be annoyed with my frequent visits to check on the progress of the work. I saw the effort they put into the work, and I made sure to let them know how good it was looking. Tim even made sure to speak to me about cleaning the floors and what to use and not use when cleaning. These floors are now the focal point of the house. If I had more flooring to be done I would hire these guys again in a second. I definitely got more than what I paid for.

Emailed a request for a quote to have our hardwood floors to be redone. We have hardwood in our foyer and dining room at about 200 Square Feet. John Stommel called back the next morning and said they where in the neighborhood on another job and came over to meet and give an estimate. He was very friendly and we agreed on a price of $760 for a sanding to the wood and and two coats of polyurethane. He asked me to clear the area of the furniture and pictures in the dining room and said the men would help me move the large hutch. His three man crew came over around 1pm the same day, helped me move the hutch and put up plastic to isolate the sanding dust. They sanded everything down to the wood and put on one coat of polyurethane in about 3 to 4 hours and said they would be back the next day for the other coat. The crew came back the next day and put down the other coat of poly. John Stommel came by and checked the floor right after they where done and collected the payment. The next day after the poly dried there where some waves right in front of the stairs in the foyer. I gave him a call and the John came by, took and look and sent out a member of his crew to fix the same day. The crew re-sanded the small area and put down one coat of poly then came back the next and put another. He also helped me put down a bridge to get over the retreated area so I could get up and down the stairs. Good service, good experience.

We called the company and let them know what we wanted done.
Mr Stommel responded the same evening and informed us the work could be done the same week. He crew came in 2 days later after we removed the old carped ourselves.
The individuals that performed the work were outstanding workers and very professional.
The price was a bit on the high side, but the work performed - outstanding.!

The men showed up right on time with Mr. Stommell to supervise. They were professional and courteous. They performed the work within two hours and gave me drying and setting instructions. The floor looks great and is ready for closet installation as a result of their hard work. There was only one thing I wish they would have warned me about: the dust that would cover everything in the rest of the room. Had I known, I would have covered up the dresser, the shoes and the folded clothes in the other half of the bedroom where work wasn't being done.

It was a very positive experience. We're getting ready to have our floors done in the rest of the house. They will be the first people we call. Our plan is to use them again. The man we dealt with was very, very helpful.

I called Abraham and Sons based upon favorable reports I found in Angie's list. They came that same day to give me an estimate. This surprised me, since it was a Saturday. We agreed to a price, and on Monday they began work. The team of three showed up on time, worked three full days, and did a splendid job. The floor was about 50 years old and had pet stains that had been hidden by carpets for years. The job foreman recommended a dark stain to minimize the visibility of pet stains in the floor. Although we were reluctant, he gave us several options, and ultimately we were persuaded. We are very glad we followed his advice. The job was completed on time with excellent results. It looks great.

Recently, two of our neighbors had work done by Abraham and Sons. So when we needed to get our hardwood floors refinished, we asked them their opinion of the work done and the company in general. They were very pleased and told us that the price was right, too. So we decided to give Abraham and Sons a call. John, the owner of the company, came by on Nov. 11 and gave us a cost estimate to sand and refinish our floors. Our floors were in very bad shape with many bare spots. John quoted us a fair price and was able to get started the next day. He came early in the morning and brought a team of 5 workers with him. They started by draping plastic over the open doorways and taping it down to make sure the dust from the sanding process would be contained as much as possible. After the sanding was done, they meticulously vacuumed the area. They even cleaned my kitchen counter tops, windowsills and cabinet doors! After that they put two coats of polyurethane on the floor which dried overnight. The next morning they came back, lightly buffed the floor, and put the last coat on. Once that was dry and safe to walk on (the next morning), I noticed that the foyer area felt rough to the touch; not as smooth as the kitchen area. I called John and he came by a few hours later with his workers. John agreed that it was not up to their standards and immediately had that area rebuffed and refinished. He also sanded down and refinished a spot where the sanding machine had left a mark, and filled some cracks that had been overlooked. John stayed the whole time that day to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction. I am very happy with the final result: my hardwood floors look like new again! They have done a beautiful job. And last but not least: I have to commend John and his workers on their professionalism, work ethic, and politeness. It's refreshing to see people take such pride in their profession and understand that customer satisfaction is vital to a company's success. When talking to John, I found out that they also refinish wooden furniture. Since my dining room set and coffee table need to be refinished, I will definitely give Abraham and Sons a call.

The owner and crew were always timely to start work and stayed late when necessary. The job overall was great. There were minor things that were not completed, for instance the threshold to a tiled bathroom floor was not installed. It was broken when floor were refinished but not replaced. Small nicks in the brand new flooring in the kitchen that were not corrected.

My floors are red oak and did have some staining that they could not remove. They had suggested staining them and I really didn't want to until I saw visible stains still there. I decided to go with the staining after all, at an additional cost, and he pitched a fit because a bigger job had come through. I didn't get the staining done. They also nicked off paint from the base boards, leaving paint chips, which they just polyurethane over top of. I ended up just throwing a big carpet over the whole room. I really feel I was neglected and over charged.

The work went great. I got the estimate and they started to work even sooner than the date agreed upon. There was a crew of about six people that worked well together and they worked hard and efficient. The first coat of sealer was on the floors at the end of day one and the project was completed on day five.

The majority of this house is hardwood, and we wanted the whole place to be hardwood. Abraham and Sons are very close to being artists at this. They took their time, and did a brilliant job on these old floors, that have been here since the fifties. They also put some coating over the floors to minimize stains, and scratches. It is like having a brand new interior.
