Jimmy and his team are always on point. We've had multiple trees taken down by his company going back 10+ years now with the most recent being just last week. He shows up with the crew and equipment to handle everything from take down to clean up. I couldn't recommend him enough.

I was pleasantly surprised with how well this company communicated and followed up on their provided service. Jimmy and his employees were not only kind and professional, but also a joy to work with. We had a large pine tree and the stump removed within a timly matter. Our neighbor even asked for his tree service. Which he took care of the very next day. I would highly reccomend this company!

Very poorly! Jimmy provided a tree service for me in 2014. I called on him again to clear the lot for construction on the same property in May of 2022. The estimate/contract we agreed on was to removed two trees and grind several stumps. I did not discover until the lot was graded and seeded that he left several stumps and covered them up with sawdust. Upon contacting him, his response was (1) if he returned he would charge me (2) I should have contacted him within 30 days (3) he does not service my city any longer (4) recommended another service who may charge a nominal fee. I have made several unsuccessful attempts to reach him again to urge him to remedy this matter. With no other choice, I am seeking restitution.

Jimmy Oliver and his crew were professional, efficient, and courteous. They showed up on time, worked steadily, and cleaned up afterward. I would seek their services for any and all future tree services.

Jimmy answered my call right away and came out within a couple of hours and gave us a Great Price. We got 3 other estimates and his was the best and included the clean-up as well.  He is professional and pleasant to deal with.  
They arrived 10 minutes early and they worked so fast, it was amazing!  The tree was down and cut-up and on the truck in 1 hour.
Then they removed the sprawling thick roots and stump which took about an hour or so.  Then they left for a short time and came back and cleaned up the debris from the stump and we are ready to plant grass seed!  We are so impressed and happy with our decision to higher "A Top Notch Tree Service".  We would highly recommend them to anyone!  Great Company!

Jimmy Oliver came out to give me an estimate on elevating 2 maple trees in my back yard on Sept 14.  The estimate was very reasonable and I asked when he could do the work joking saying how about tomorrow.  He looked through his paperwork and said yes he could do the job the next day and gave me an estimated time.  I was so pleased when the crew showed up the next morning just a few minutes early, got right to work, removed all debris, and was done in about 1 hour.  The crew did an excellent job from start to finish.  I had gotten estimates from other companies earlier in the summer and had agreed with one to do the job but they kept making excuses not to show up to do the work so I finally told them to forget it and had almost given up the idea this job would ever get done.  I can now say A Top Notch Tree Service restored my faith in hiring a contractor.  They were very professional from start to finish and I highly recommend them.  I will not hesitate to use their services again if an occasion should arise.

If you need a tree removed these are the guys. Called back the same day, looked and have an estimate next day, service done two days later. These guys are fast good and cheap, a very rare combo.

A Top Notch Tree Service came recommended by neighbors that have used him in the past.  He came out and gave me a free estimate a month or two ago when I was price shopping.  His prices were competitive, and due to the previous recommendations that he had, I decided to go with him (he also honored his initial quote, even though I waited longer than the expiration date provided on the quote).
He did the work while I was not at home, and he cleaned up the debris to the point that you couldn't tell he had been there.  If I hadn't had problems in the past with other contractors and their failure to clean up properly, I don't think I would have appreciate this fully.  I know from the pruning that they had to have a ton of branches to dispose of, and they took care of it all.  There weren't even any leaves left on the ground in the area they were working and no other landscaping was damaged (which is impressive given the area of my yard that they were working).
The pruning also looks great.  I have a problem maple tree in the front of my yard that I am trying desperately to save.  They really cleaned it up and took out all the dead branches and topped it off to make it look more like a tree and less like the 60+ foot giant weed that it has become.  Hopefully, their work will be enough to save this very old tree (it could be original to our 43 year old home).
I would gladly recommend A Top Notch Tree Service to anyone that needs this type of service.
After Note: We also used them to buy firewood in the fall.  I order a cord of wood and got about 2/3rds of a cord (basically two face cords), and this was with them throwing in extra because of delivery issues.  After buying firewood from three different individuals in Hampton Roads, I've come to the sad realization that none of them know how to properly measure a cord of wood.  Beware of this if you buy firewood from A Top Notch Tree Service.  My firewood experience doesn't change my above review about their tree cutting service.

Both my husband and I were very impressed with A Top Notch Tree Service.  This is the third time I have used them. I was very impressed with their service -they called me back immediately and the owner came within a day to walk through the yard, answer my questions and provide a quote.  I did get one quote from another company and A Top Notch Tree Service was definitely the most reasonable.  The crew was very professoinal, they took care of our yard and driveway, they raked the yard after removing the debris and explained what we need to do to grow the lawn where the tree was removed.  They were here when they said they would be, the owner was here every day, and the final payment was exactly as he said it would be.  I would absolutely recommend this company.

They come in on time, do the service. They came back the next day to grind the stump because it was still wet. They are very professional and clean up well.

After contacting a few companies for delivery of a cord of firewood I decided to settle on this company.  When I called the gentleman told me that he could be out the next week to deliver the wood for a decent price (about the average for the area).  He assured me he only sells seasoned firewood and no large unusable pieces.  He also assured me it would be a full cord not delivered in a pick-up truck.  We settled for an early morning delivery on Thursday at 10am.  Just before 10am he sent me a text and said his earlier job was taking longer than expected and would be late.  I responded with no problem... and when can you be here.  2 hours later I got a text back saying 5pm.  I had nothing to do that say so I said no problem.  At 5pm he was not there yet so I sent a text again asking if he was coming.. he texted back about 20 mins later stating he was still running late and would be there at 7pm.  7pm came around and again he was late.  I texted him again asking if he was actually going to show up.  He replied around 7:45 stating he was on the way.  He arrived shortly there after and as promised has what seemed to be a full cord worth of wood.  Because it was already dark I was unable to verify if the wood was really seasoned or not.  They dumped the wood on the driveway as I asked and knocked off $10 for the hassle of me sitting around all day waiting for them.

The next day I inspected the wood pile and realized there were many worthless pieces which were way to large for my fireplace.  I have 7 extremely large pieces which were still attached to each other that I will need to finish splitting before using.  There were also about 20 pieces which were over 20" long.. so I will need to rent a chainsaw to process to the proper length.  My biggest frustration is half the wood is not close to seasoned.  I pulled 10 pieces out and split them down the middle to find 6 of 10 to be very wet in the center.  I used my moisture meter and took a reading of each split piece.  4 of 10 measured around 15-20%.  6 of 10 measured 60-70%.  It seems to me that at some point seasoned wood was mixed with fairly fresh cut wood. 

Overall the gentleman who did finally show up were very professional and were pleasant to speak to.  I can't speak to the rest of the services they offer but I would not purchase firewood from them again.

This is the second time I have had Jimmy and his crew do work for me.  The first time I needed a tree removed and called about 6 companies of which 3 responded including Jimmy.  The other two companies couldnt give me a time they would be out for an estimate but said they would leave an estimate in the mailbox.  Any follow on questions I had they were hard to get a hold of.  I called Jimmy and he made an appointment with me, was on time... to the minute.  He provided me an estimate and answered all my questions on the spot.  He gave me a time he would be available to the job and his price was cheaper than the others.  He came out to do the job was on time and done ahead of schedule.
When it came time for me to have some trees pruned he was the first person I called.  They gave me a time they would be out to look at the job and arrived on time to the minute.  They had availability a week out, came out on time once again and did a great job.  I will all companies operated like Jimmy and his crew.  If I have any more work they will be the first I call.

Jimmy was the first one to come out and give us a bid.  He is very prompt and courteous. He gave us the best price by far and we scheduled the work the following week. He was on time and kept us posted on the progress of the job. Payment wasn't requested until the job was completed to our satisfaction. I would happily refer him to anyone and plan on using A TOP NOTCH in the future for a few more diseased trees we have on our  property.

They were excellent! The owner was on site every day and I was impressed with the results work. They also offered the best price in my area.

They came rite out and did the work within a couple of hours. They were very fast.

These guys had some trouble with equipment, traffic, and timing causing them to reschedule at the beginning of the job. However, once they were on site, they were very professional, quick, and competent. They removed 10 full size trees (60-100feet) and roots in seven hours. Of these trees, 6 hung over my house or one of my neighbors houses. Jimmy was very capable in removing all limbs with zero damage to my house or the neighbors houses. He expertly controlled the falling of all trees with precision and ease. I would use these guys again and would recommend to anyone looking for tree removal. The only con was their punctuality, but some of that can be blamed on the the traffic and congestion of the Hampton Roads highway system.
