Concrete Driveway Service, Asphalt Driveway Service
Contracted to pave an asphalt drive from house to boat dock (400 feet x 9 feet). Performed services after dark. Damaged trees with paving equipment. Did not provide adequate road bedding as large portions of underlayment washed out. Asphalt applied was substandard and pavement began breaking and crumbling soon after application. Roadway was not banked as instructed by home owner which created water run-off problems for neighbors instead of preventing it. Contractor indicated his work was guaranteed and this was indicated in his advertisement in the local phone book, but would he not respond to phone calls and has refused to respond to Better Business Bureau for attempts at complaint resolution. At the completion of work, contractor indicated that the paved section was 60 feet longer than the original estimate and added an additional $2,000 to the final bill. After measuring the drive myself using a tape measure after paying the vendor I found the drive was 397 feet or 63 feet shorter than stated. I am currently lodging a complaint with Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. I feel the entire experience was negative and bordered on criminal.
This company is listed in the phone book as James R. Carter Paving also as James R. Carter and Sons Paving.
