Urban Mattress

I visited Urban Mattress, Casper Mattress at Tysons and Mattress Firm on Lee Highway based on positive comments at various social media venues. I had good experiences at all three but opted for Urban Mattress based on price, quality, sales experience and community commitment. Urban Mattress richly deserves the strong recommendations it receives on social media. Owner Nathaniel Hoelk gave us plenty of attention, quickly understanding our needs and carefully explaining both the technical aspects of mattress construction and the store's sales, refund, warranty and delivery practices. The delivery and setup were timely and carefully done.

This is a mattress store like no other. First - a full spectrum of mattresses that are genuinely distinct from one another in materials and composition. Box springs 4" or 8" depending on desired height of bed. Incredible selection or organic/sustainable materials and also incredible selection of comfort-based options. Most mattresses and pillows made by Urban in Colorado, USA. No pressure and highly knowledgeable staff. Nathaniel, the owner, is a great young guy who has created a really unique mattress shopping experience. I've been going to other mattress stores on and off for the last 2 years and just wasn't happy with the options or the stores. I needed a new mattress badly but all my research was leading nowhere. Finding Urban was the luckiest thing! Don't buy a mattress in a box when you could go here and try out the selection.

Don't shop anywhere else for mattresses. I wasted a lot of money on a terrible product with terrible service. Price was nearly equivalent to what I paid for this FABULOUS product at Urban Mattress. Don't make the mistake I did which was....I forget to check Angie's List FIRST....

Very pleasant mattress buying experience. The first mattress I bought had a warranty issue after 3 months. I was invited back to store to exchange it. I picked another comparable mattress, and was not even charged for pickup and delivery. No hassles, easy as pie. You won't get this kind of customer service from a large chain mattress store.

Yes, all the "A" reviews are accurate. There's absolutely no need to subject yourself to the pressure and hassle of the mattress chain stores. We learned this the hard way about 2 years ago when our entire bedroom ceiling collapsed and the insurance wrote off the mattress, leaving us with a nice check to go mattress shopping. We visited 5 stores, and the difference between Urban Mattress and your typical mattress store is almost shocking. Nathaniel, and the entire staff, "get" customer service. No pressure, plenty of friendly conversation and information if you want it, and all the time you need to make a decision. They have a great range of different mattress types, including latex, memory foam, and traditional spring mattresses, all from "smaller" manufacturers. If you want to drop thousands of dollars on a mattress, you can, but they have plenty of more reasonably priced options and they are just as happy to help you either way. They even tirelessly moved different mattresses around so we could feel the difference it made putting them on different bases. So, we gladly purchased a really nice latex mattress, which after 20 years of marriage was our first "luxury" mattress. Fast forward two years, and the mattress started to develop a noticeable impression. One email to Nathaniel and he immediately arranged a replacement mattress from the manufacturer, who gave me absolutely no hassles and stood behind their product, no questions asked. We just had the new mattress delivered 2 days ago, which is the latest model, so we'll hopefully have a little better luck with this one. These guys are great - don't think twice about making them your first stop for a mattress and you'll understand what I mean.

Staff was professional, attentive and low pressure, and very knowledgeable. The selection of mattresses is quite good but, except for Tempurpedic, does not include the most common brands so you won't be able to do an apples-to-apples comparison with other vendors. Their web site gives a complete list of brands and prices. Prices seemed fair, but don't expect to get cut-rate sale prices, that's not their business model. What you will get is a straight, knowledgeable discussion with a sales person that knows his business, and a lot of transparency about your purchase. An unusual situation in the mattress business, not at all like the used-car-salesman tactics of other chains.

Based on positive reviews, I'd driven an hour to look at the mattresses at Urban Mattress of Vienna VA. Unlike most mattress stores, UM does not play pricing games (no discounts/sales). I was greeted promptly, and guided to a mattress in my price range to try. I was then given several options in the price range and time to consider the different makes and try them out. I made a selection, the purchase was made without any pressure for upsale. The store was easy to get to with plenty of parking, and the store environment was relaxed and professional. 2% of the sale was donated to a local community charity, and I was able to pick one of 3 featured charities. A very positive shopping experience, I highly recommend shopping at Urban Mattress!

We had been to three other mattress /bed retailers in the area and were very disappointed in the 'second hand car salesperson' technique used by all of them. Pressure selling and no actual product knowledge was the standard. Lie on a mattress for a few minutes, sign a check and you are done was the norm. No thought as to what we, the purchaser's, and users, actually required in terms of cost, comfort and service. This all changed when we walked into Urban Mattress and were greeted by Nathaniel and his team. The shopping and retail experience was second to none. Our needs and concerns were all discussed and met in no uncertain terms. Product knowledge and how best to ensure that we bought the bed and mattress that best suited us, was a priority of these guys and it shows in two weeks of great sleep and no backache. The great coffee, and discounted pillows, went a long way towards making this a phenomenal shopping experience as well. This review is long overdue. My wife and I were in the market for a new eco-friendly king mattress set and came across Urban Mattress in Vienna, VA. Nathaniel, the owner could not have been greater; very personable with a thorough knowledge of his product. Nathaniel showed unbelievable patience in explaining the ins and outs of the different mattress styles, quality and comfort levels as we tried out just about every mattress in his state of the art show room. Anyone who has purchased a mattress recently knows that it can be a jungle out there; not that way at Urban Mattress. Once we selected our mattress, delivery was prompt and very professional. Another bonus, Nathaniel lets you choose a charity to which he makes a donation.

Nathaniel asked us numerous questions to get an idea of what we were looking for; were we side, back, or stomach sleeper, what firmness was comfortable, what materials we wanted, etc., etc. He then showed us several mattresses and had us try them out. It was an easy experience and we are very happy with our choice. When the guys brought our mattress and box-spring, they carted the old one away, and brought in the new bed without a hitch.

My wife and I were in the market for a new mattress and spent quite a bit of time reviewing and trying many of the mattress products on the market. Buying a mattress is difficult because there are many "discount' mattress places where salespeople work on commission without regard for the consumer. Urban Mattress is truly a different experience. The owner/operator, Nathaniel, worked with us personally to ensure we received the right mattress for us. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, knew exactly when to give us a few minutes of privacy and when to be available for questions without ever applying the dreaded sales pressure. Within a few minutes we were very comfortable with Nathaniel and knew this was where we wanted to purchase our next mattress set. Prices were well marked and comparable to other mattress dealers we had visited. Over the years we've tried different types of mattresses but mostly traditional coil mattresses and most recently a sleep number mattress. We were generally satisfied with the mattresses but disappointed in how they held up over time. After researching the different types of mattresses at Urban Mattresses website (www.urbanmattress.com), we were better prepared and generally knew what we wanted to try. With just a few questions, Nathaniel was able to help us narrow down to a few choices the mattresses that we were looking for. I was extremely pleased at Urban Mattresses offerings of ecologically friendly "green" mattresses made from all natural materials. We ended up selecting one of the latex mattresses in this category and were very pleased with our purchase. While it's still early to give full feedback on the mattress itself, I'll plan to stop back here and update in a few months so consumers will have some information on how our experience goes. In the meantime, I couldn't have asked for a better sales experience. One further note - Urban Mattress donates 2% of each sale to one of four charity organizations (you get to choose which one) in an effort to give back to the community on every sale. There company values of Justice, Mercy and Humility were very evident throughout this entire transaction.

This is NOT your typical mattress store! This is an independent mattress store. The owner and the salesman were both friendly and very knowledgeable about their products. It was an easy purchase with no pressure sales. The store was clean and well equipped with several brands and types of mattresses. The mattresses are being delivered in mid March, so this review is solely about the buying experience. The owners of the store state their core values on the walls for all customers to see and are reinforced on the pamphlet given with the sales receipt. They support the community with a 2% donation to the local charity of your choice. There are 4 to pick from. Before you buy a mattress, check out this store and support an independent business that contributes profits back to the community.
