I had quite the opposite experience of others on this site. Called Steve. He answered. He said that he could move my safe from the store where I purchased it into my basement and when. Did it on that day for an excellent price. When we accidentally overpaid, he kindly brought it to our attention. I wouldn't call anyone else. I don't know why anyone would.

Steve is a nice guy...when you can get a hold of him. I left him at least four voicemails that he did not respond to that I needed a safe relocated and that I was looking to buy a vault door for a new property. No reply. I will be using another Fort Knox dealer or buy a Graffunder unit.

Steve is the master. He moved my safe after several "safe" movers quoted much higher priced and told me it would require much more effort then Steve did .

3/5/2018 This review is for a Fort Knox safe I bought. I did a lot of homework before I bought the Fort Knox Gun Safe Series M2 Model 7241. I am very happy with my purchase. I looked at Superior, Champion, Liberty, Browning, Cannon, Steel Water, and many other safes before I bought the Fort Knox M2. If you think that the safe you’re looking at will work for the guns you have now, think a little before you buy it, and buy a bigger one. You will probably buy more guns! Right? Spend a little more at the front end of buying a safe, or you will end up buying a second safe at some point! Also make sure to get an S&G Group 2 lock. The man I bought my safe from, Steve , is a great locksmith that is willing to work with you, and with no pressure to buy ‘Right Now’! I found out about Steve from a friends son, a retired State Trooper from one of the adjoining states to Virginia. I talked to Steve a number of times on the phone before I went to meet him in Chantilly, Virginia, at a gun show. Even at the gun show he never pushed for a sale. When he was finished with the person he was talking to when I showed up, he came to talk to me as if I was the only one at the gun show, one on one, NO KIDDING!!! His wife Toni, talked to me first, and gave me a brochure, and a price list, and talked about the safes, very knowledgeable also. Toni knows the product very well! One of the things I wanted was a certain 3 number combination, and Steve easily set it to the numbers I had requested. I had the safe set on my garage floor. To keep the bottom of the safe protected from rusting, he set the safe on 4 Hockey Pucks. May seem weird to some, but steel and cement = rust on bottom of safe. Today they came from Northern, Virginia with the Fort Knox M2 safe, in the rain, and did an incredible job moving the safe, and setting it up, and leveling it, and anchoring it to the cement floor. They traveled at least 135 miles, or a little more. I know I traveled 135 miles to go to the gun show to meet them. Steve seems willing to travel a great distance to set up your safe. He will give you a flat rate of what the set up and delivery will cost. It might seem pricey, but when you really understand what service and knowledge he is providing, it will be worth it! Others I talked to about getting a safe delivered, and given a flat rate within a certain zone for mileage, would have cost a great deal more. Then to set it up, level it, and anchor it was so much an hour per man, 2 men minimum. Much more than I paid Steve and they would have only had to come 70 miles. We are dog lovers, and so are Steve and Toni. They had their 4 dogs with them, one named Bullet, another Caliber, another named Ammo, and another named --- . After the safe was completely installed Steve took the time to make sure I was okay with the way everything worked. It took me a few tries to get the S&G Combination Dial to work for me, but I have opened it a number of times now with no problem. If you find yourself having a hard time with going that ‘just a scratch’ too far past your combo number, use a finger from your other hand to slow it down, like a brake. I was going to get a gun safe a few years ago, but we could not afford it, so I dropped the thought. A few months ago we were coming out of a Tractor Supply and my wife stopped at the gun safes and said, “I think you should get a gun safe”. Who was I to argue? She did not realize what this would end up costing her/us. We went from around $700.00, to about $4,000.00. Big difference, but she pulled on her big girl boots, and gave her blessing for the safe. You also have to understand that she said I could buy a new Harley or Indian if I lost 100 pounds. She knew she was safe with dangling that carrot in front of me! I can still get a new BIKE, IF I still lose the 100 pounds, but she said no more gun safes, at least for a while. She does understand that you can never have enough guns, or ammunition, so as I see it, I still win. By the way, I do have to be careful around her as she is a much better shot than me. Her daddy raised her in the NRA competition as a young girl. She won a lot of Trophy’s and Badges. She toasted our son (he’s my step-son) at a gun range when he was bragging about what a good shot he was. My wife at that time had not shot a live round in about 25 years. Well, she shamed him in five round groups, every time a bull seye, every set they shot. He would get maybe three in the eye, and two out most of their sets. When she hit the outer edge of a bulls eye one time, he tried to call it as an out. I was in the next lane, and told him to see the ‘range master to see what he would say. Before he got I within ten feet, the MASTER told him to suck it up, and be man enough to be defeated by his mom. It nearly killed him to say, mom you’re a better shot than me. He has never asked for a rematch! I close with saying that I probably spent way too much time on the internet and phone to do the research and learning a HUGE load of information. I know it was driving my wife to a maddening stage, but then I reminded her that this was my Christmas gift from her, and she backed off. Men, if you have a great wife, let her know how blessed you feel, and let her know how great she is, and most importantly let her know how much you love her. You’ll never be sorry for it!!! This is a hard one for me. Let me open with the fact that Steve is an extremely knowledgeable, professional, and friendly guy. Truly a great locksmith who clearly enjoys what he does, is always friendly, and goes above and beyond to deliver - when you can get a hold of him. That said, he is near to impossible to get a hold of. I mean this literally. Even purchasing a safe will require diligent and consistent contacts from you and absolute persistence. Service is similar. I've found the best way is to personally talk to him at the Dulles Expo Center gun show, and them immediately follow-up with a barrage of voice messages, e-mails. Leave all your contact info in each contact. Be ready to hear nothing back for several months. Then hit him up against at the next Dulles gun show and remind him of your e-mails and voice mails. Be ready to repeat this for up to a year. No I'm not joking. Once you get a confirmed appointment though, you are 100% good to go. He will show up, do exactly what you need done and it will all cost you less than you think it will. And during the visit you will be reminded of what a heck of a nice guy he is and how much time he spends with you seeing that you are taken care of. If you are willing to deal with this personality quirk then you will be very happy. If this will cause you significant heart-ache, then you need to decide if it's worth it.

Steve is extremely busy, so communications during the order process were spotty. However, the delivery was extremely professional and timely.

Let me start by saying I'm sure Steve is a good guy. I watched him install a safe for a friend and he genuinely seems like good peoples. That all being said, his ability to run a business seems to be quite lacking. Specifically: 1. I submitted 3 request through the FT. Knox website for pricing. I did this over a period of weeks. Never received a response. 2. I emailed Steve directly (via a flyer I picked up at the local gun show). Also, no response ever received. 3. I left Steve 3 - 5 voicemails over a period of weeks. Always calling during normal business hours (8-5 M-F). Out of the blue one evening around 1930hrs Steve calls. We have a 15 minute discussion on the safe requirements and install location. Steve tells me he will call the next day with pricing and a delivery date. Despite me following up with him multiple times, here I sit a month later with no call or other communication from Steve. This is beyond ridiculous, yet after reading through multiple forums and postings around the Internet, this seems to be status quo for Steve over the last decade or so. Given that my perception of Steve being one of the 'good guys' it pains me to write this, but I'm frankly frustrated with the situation. As I communicated to Steve, the one time we communicated, I have cash in hand and am ready to execute immediately.

Steve and his wife delivered a large safe and set it up in my basement. They were on time and did everything possible to ensure everything was completed professionally. They are experts at what they do and have the proper equipment to get the job done. Additionally, they are very nice folks and a pleasure to work with.

Steve did a great job. It took a little time to get the appointment scheduled, but Steve was great.

Beat everyone else's prices by hundreds of dollars! Was friendly, yet professional. Declined by assistance, did it himself. Referred me to a great locksmith who provided a consultation and demonstration on how I could do the work myself and didn't charge me anything.

Steve is a great guy to work with and he does excelent work. There are very few safe movers that will move a safe down a set of stairs into a basement. Most Safe deliveries are to the curb so you have to do your homework and ask the detailed questions regarding safe delivery. Steve is a Ft. Knox safe and V-Line security cabinet dealer. I was in the market for a used gun safe but this did not detur Steve from helping me out. I contacted Steve a few times to see what he had available. He told me that used safes move pretty fast but he'd let me know if he had one. A little while later, I found a safe on craigslist that I was interested in. I contacted Steve to see if he would do the transport, delievery, and set up. He met me at the storage unit where the safe was located. He got the safe down from the second floor using the elevator, loaded it up on his special trailer and dropped it off in my garage. I forget what the situation was but we agreed that he didn't need to put it in the basement that day so he didn't have his stair machine. A few weeks later he came back and with the help of a friend of mine and myself, he used his stair machine to get the GIGANTIC safe through my kitchen and down my basement stairs. (NOTE: I reinforced my basement stairs with 4x4 beams so that it could handle the weight of the safe, machine and two guys.) First the safe was unable to fit through my kitchen/garage door but Steve took apart the interior door panel and pulled back the shaft that the outer knob fits on, then rewrapped the safe and it fit.His Stair machine is AWESOME! It is basically a set of electric bulldozer tracks that straps on to the side of the safe. The safe is then carefully leaned back and started down the steps with the machine. Unfortunately I won't be needing another safe anytime soon but if I did, I would be using Steve's Services and without a doubt I would not hesitate to recommend Steve's Services to anyone else looking for a quality safe or locksmith.
