Bobby from SINTEG showed up and we went over the requirements. I kind of knew what I needed but wanted an expert to confirm the configuration and layout. We verbally agreed on the layout. Bobby brought me a contract that I signed. It read; " Pre-wiring for a security system" and went into some detail but not all, 3 keypads, 2 motions, 1 siren, all doors and windows on main floor and basement; pre-wire for cameras 5 inside, 2 outside. They came and wired the house and didn't account for the top windows. Before we closed it up I realized that there were no smoke, heat or carbon detectors. I called Bobby and let him know he forgot those. He came and wired for them smokes and asked for an additional $400+ just for the wiring! He suggested I click out the built in lock that keeps the top window from being lowered. A weak work around in my opinion. The windows should have had wireless devices in the center. Anyway, My position was that he is the expert and he should have assumed that smoke detectors were required for a new system install and done a better job on the windows. I offered to pay half. of the additional $400. He lost his professionalism at that point and said that he would no longer help me until I paid the extra charges. I again agreed to split it with him but he declined. According to the electrician, many of the holes they drilled were too close to the corners and edges of the studs. Some wires had staples through them so we had to abandon them and use wireless devices. The tags were all writting in Spanish so when Ackerman came to finish the job it had to be translated. Ackerman found several wires that could not be used or didn't make sense so they were also abandoned. I called Bobby while Ackerman was on site and asked him to come help his colleagues and make this right. He asked what I would do if he didn't. I said that I would blow him up on Angie's list and sue him. He screamed "sue me" and hung up. I had to pay Ackerman an additional $2400 to complete the job. Way over my budget and the original estimate. The Ackerman representative also suggested that I sue SINTEG. I would like a $1000.00 refund from SINTEG for poor performance and to cover additional expenses that I had to pay Ackermen to completed the job.
Description of Work: Bobby was referred to me by the Ackerman security sales person to pre-wire my home for a completely new security system.
