I've been using them for probably 15-20 years. It's not the only one I use but they are the ones I use when they have a sale. Over the years these companies change, people aren't always the same. So sometimes they are good and sometimes they are not so good. This last experience I had with them was very good. They were very friendly, very competent and got me the set of tires as quickly as they could which was the next day and I came in and did it.

It went well. They were able to get to me the same day. I had to wait a while a suitable part was obtained since the stock part may not have done the job.

I've used Merchants before and like them. This time I was on a business trip in Richmond and came out of my meeting with a flat tire. I inflated it and then took it to Merchants. They found a screw in it and were able to repair it, saving me from having to buy a new tire for my 1987 Ford F150 pickup.

The service was great. I just moved from California. I used to use BIG BRAND TIRE. If you need a tire patched, it's FREE. I think this is good business practice.

I had the worst possible experience at Merchant's.
9 am
We arrived and were told it would be 1.5 - 2 hours. The appointment system didn't seem to be working, so the rep said if we came back later, he would put our car straight up on the lift.
10:45 am
We returned. When I said that we were told we'd get immediate service upon our return, the manager got snotty with me. He made an appointment for us for 5 pm.
5 pm
I returned to drop the car off. The service rep said the wait was 1.5 - 2 hours, still. I asked why I bothered making an appointment. He response was only that every bay was full, and I'd have to wait. I walked to Panera to have dinner.
6:15 pm
When I called for an update, the same rep told me that my car was going up on the lift and should be done in 20 minutes.
7:00 pm
I walked back over to see my car JUST THEN going up on the lift. So the rep had lied to me about my car going up on the lift when I called 45 minutes earlier.
7:30 pm (roughly)
The service rep tells me that they don't have the right filter. I tell him to take the car down and just give it back to me. He tells me that the filter is on its way from another location and asks me to please be patient. At this point, he finally tells me that they will not charge me for the oil change or tire rotation. I call my husband to come get me and tell the rep that I'll return tomorrow to get my car.

After nearly 12 hours over the day and more than 3 hours of my evening, my car was FINALLY done and returned to me for a simple oil change and tire rotation.
