Paul, the owner of Master Appliance Service, has been repairing appliances for thirty years. I hired him because of his high Angie's List and Washington Consumer Checkbook rating and was not disappointed. I also avoided the Whirlpool contract repair company that doesn't appear on Angies List but was one of the worst companies rated by Checkbook. He carefully assessed potential causes of the oven problem we were having and figured out we needed to replace a control board. Having done the diagnosis in the morning, he secured the part from the distributor and returned in the afternoon to do the install. Terrific service provided by a personable service provider. Glad to have him to turn to in the event of other major appliance problems.

Fantastic. Prompt, concerned about keeping work area clean, even artistic in log arrangement. He also fixed our gas dryer, which we were going to replace. No need to replace it now!

Paul was very professional, he knew exactly what was going on, and even had the parts in his truck. The dryer was running fabulously in no time!

I called four appliance repair companies and two said they did not service Bosch (strange because Bosch is the industry benchmark for dishwashers). One referred me to Master Appliance Repair because he was booed solid for several days. I called and Paul, the owner, said he could be at my house the same afternoon. The tech came and replaced the valve in my 8-year old dishwasher. The dishwasher did not work after the new valve and we called Paul. He came late the same day after 5:00 and unhooked the stopper which had been lodged out of place--no charge. Paul was GREAT. He is responsive and knows appliances well--even picked his brain for a new refrigerator we plan on getting. I highly recommend Master--excellent business acumen, friendly, honest, and super knowledgable.

Master Appliance Service was favorably referred by a friend. Paul Mills was easily reached and available on fairly quick notice. When he came and diagnosed the problem, he had the necessary part, but had to remove the top and front of my stacked dryer in order to effect the replacement. He then reset the heat element and tested the repair. 
This problem was incorrectly addressed by another service provider last October where only the heat element reset button was engaged. That technician advised that heating element repairs for my dryer were exceedingly expensive, and that I should consider a replacement appliance if the problem were to reoccur.

Nice guy, had all the parts on hand; knew exactly what to do and did it efficiently in one visit.

He is an A++ provider to work with.  He knows where all the spare parts are made and I recommend him to everyone.  His prices are very reasonable.

Paul did an excellent job. He gave me an actual appointment, not a time range, and was here pretty close to on time. He quickly got to work, explaining what he was doing as he went. He first confirmed that there was an internal fuse that was blown, and then went about diagnosing the problem that had caused the problem - which was a sticky door switch. He had all the parts necessary to repair the microwave (new switch, new fuse) and completed the repair quickly and efficiently.
I really appreciated his punctuality, professionalism and friendliness, and was impressed by his creativity (he had a pair of surgical forceps that he used to get into a tight space to replace the fuse without having to take the microwave off the wall mount - saved at least 45 minutes more work - and cost for me.)

Diagnosed a microwave repair issue and recommended complete replacement of the unit rather than replacement of the defective control panel, (i.e., cost and installation of the control panel about the same as cost of a new unit).  He was right.  Although an appliance repairman, and not an installer, he agreed to do this install which he did as soon as the new unit was procured.    As has been our experience with Paul Mills before, he delivered highly competent technical advice and service at a very fair price.  We had used Mr. Mills before to repair a refrigerator and washer at our home which is why we turned immediately to him for this job.  Couldn't be more satisfied.

It was fantastic! He quickly diagnosed the issue and repaired it when it took the previous provider four visits and they ended up damaging the range. He came out the day that I called him and made the repair. It couldn't have gone better!

He arrived on time.  I have used him several times in the past and he is very knowledgeable and professional.  He knows how to fix problems and has made it possible for us to avoid buying new appliances.  He is a very practical repairman.  He is easy to work with, is available in a reasonable time, and his prices are reasonable.

Paul is great - has been to my house a few times to repair the same fridge's ice maker, clean coils, etc. The water hose thing was a 3am nightmare with water everywhere, through the floor to downstairs. I left him a message at 6:45am, he called me back at 8am, was here at 11:30 and finished by 12:30.

Paul is a one-man operation so if he doesn't respond right away, be patient.
He always comes in a reasonable time frame. If you live in Colonial Village in Arlington and have one of the old Kitchen Aid units, he knows them inside and out. He has some parts in stock. Many are now obsolete. He has a good idea what is stil available and wil keep the old unit going if he can.

This is the second time I have used Paul Mills, and I recommend him to everyone.  He is very busy.  You must keep trying his phone number but don't give up. His work is worth it.  And he gave me advice on buying a new Washing Machine that has proven to be excellent.  THanks for everything.

I called Mr. MIlls on a Thursday morning and he offered to come by the same day.  When I requested the following morning instead, he arrived punctually at a perfect time for me.  He did tell me on the phone that he may not have immediate access to Samsung parts, and if certain parts were necessary he would have to order them and that it could be a few days before they arrived.  I told him that, as the refrigerator was working, it was not an emergency and that would not be a problem. As it turned out, he did not need to order any parts.  He diagnosed and fixed my problem in a very short period of time.  He removed the ice from the defrost drain line and installed a heat shunt to keep the defrost drain from icing up again.  He showed me what he was doing and explained to me how to deal with it if it happens again.  The heat shunt that came on the refrigerator  was too short to accomplish its mission.  In my opinion, a design flaw on an otherwise great refrigerator.  Mr. Mills was courteous, personable, professional, and generous in sharing his knowledge with me.  I appreciate a small businessman with many years of experience and am pleased with my first Angie's List experience.

There was no permanent repair for the washer leak but a temporary repair was implemented that allowed time for a replacement washer to ordered.

e iceHe did a thorough analysis of the problem and diagnosed it correctly,   Then he methodically treated all the symptoms and was able to resolve various problems and then identify the source of many problems, and fixrd them all.  Very Impressed with this man's analytical skills and ability to resolve them.  I really was prepared to replace the ice-maker, but instead he cleaned the ice-maker and told me to watch and if the problem persisted, he would return and replace it.  However, because of the frozen tubes, Paul Mills indicated that the frozen tube may have been the real problem and not the  ice-maker.  So he saved me the price of a new ice-maker.
