Work was perfect and price was great.

The owner was quick to get back to me and schedule a visit for the estimate. I was impressed with his knowledge and expertise in repairing my swirled plaster ceiling. His estimate was very reasonable so I scheduled the work. We had one delay caused by a necessary shower repair to prevent more ceiling damage so had to reschedule. The work was completed and I am very happy with the results. The owner is prompt, pleasant and more than willing to give advice on how to do some repairs yourself to save money. I would certainly use him again.

David Patterson did a fantastic job - everything was completed on time and on budget. David is extremely thorough and takes the time to explain exactly what is needed and why. He did work for us a couple of years prior -- repairing a wall crack and my son's bedroom ceiling -- and we have been very pleased with that as well. In fact, when he first came to look at our son's ceiling, he was so concerned that he came back the next day (a Sunday) to buttress the ceiling until he could come back to start the job. We can't recommend him highly enough.

I can't say enough good things about this company! Mr. Patterson took a careful look at the job and gave me an estimate, in writing, within a day's time. He laid out a schedule for the work and showed up promptly every day. He took great pains to protect my property, covering everything (even the walls!) with plastic sheeting. When he sanded, he briefly turned off my furnace and the system's fan, to avoid getting dust in other areas of the house. He was courteous and professional at all times and his work was excellent. My ceiling is smooth as glass, even under a bright light! I couldn't be more pleased. I have spent almost four months making repairs to my home from the water damage and also having some previously scheduled work done. I've had a dozen workers in and out of the house. D. S. Patterson came, did the job, and left without damaging something else. Unfortunately, in my experience now and during renovations over the past ten years, this is the exception, rather than the rule. I feel very fortunate to have found him to restore my ceiling. I would absolutely recommend him for any drywall or plaster job. My confidence in this company is such that, if I need future repairs or do more remodeling, I would hire them for other types of work, too.

Johnny was very precise and thorough and a real expert when it comes to drywall. Julie at the DS Patterson office was pleasant to deal with. Johnny was very knowledgable about electrical issues as well. I would use Johnny/DS Patterson again in a heartbeat. Happy customer!

I highly recommend David Patterson for all drywall, plastering, custom designs, tile repair, and painting. Patterson has worked for me twice now. The first time I called 3 companies for estimates for a ceiling repair and textured swirl design. Patterson was the only person who actually explained the entire scope of the project; how he would repair the ceiling; how he would duplicate the texture with swirl design and the paint to match the rest of the ceiling. When he finished, everything was just perfect and exactly the way I had expected after listening to his detailed explanation. In addition, his cost for the job was the most reasonable quoted. So the second time I had a drywall issue, there was absolutely no question who I would call. Again, Patterson explained the entire scope of the project, which turned out to more than either of us expected, and in his true professional manner, he followed the project right through to completion with perfect results again. He even saved a ceramic tile baseboard when he removed the drywall and later reattached it to the new drywall. Not only is the high quality of his work meticulous with excellent results, he is punctual; his prices are more than reasonable; he treats my house like his own and it is just as clean when he leaves as it was when he arrived. An added plus, is the timely direct communication with his office. All questions are promptly answered, comments and suggestions carefully considered and addressed to complete satisfaction. Due to my experience with Patterson, my neighbors have also called him for their drywall and plaster repairs and been extremely pleased with the final product.

Mr. Patterson repaired numerous plaster cracks in three rooms of our prewar, Arlington house. We?ve been here a long time, so one concern was finding someone who could do quality work while working around a lifetime of accumulated possessions. Mr. Patterson inspected the plaster and determined that durable repairs were possible. He gave us a contract describing the work. He explained what we needed to move so he could do his work. He arrived on time and completed the job in three days. We understand that some cracks could recur because of the age of our house, but feel confident that Mr. Patterson gave us a high probability of a lasting fix. We think price and quality work make D.S. Patterson Company an outstanding value.

Turned out to be a tricky repair, as the new plumbing protruded out a few millimeters. The repairman was quite experienced and skilled, and performed this work over a required 2 visits. You can't even tell where the repair was made now! This guy is by the book, has all the credentials, insurance, and know-how. This repair was actually the 2nd time I used them, and was also quite happy with their first repair last year by another tradesman.

When we replaced our shower the plumber needed to cut a large hole into a corner of our closet. The drywall repair company recommended by the plumber never responded, so we looked up alternatives on Angie's List. D S Patterson not only called us right back, but came by that day to assess the damage. Over the next two days Dave Patterson himself installed a new backing frame (the plumber had to remove a stud), new drywall, and plastered, taped and finished the job so smoothly that we are in no hurry to paint it. Service was quick, efficient, and very friendly both over the phone and in person. One of the other companies we called had a minimum that would have more than doubled the cost. We would definitely call D S Patterson for any future drywall or plaster work.

David was great, on time, knowledgeable, neat, responsive, and friendly. He completed all work on time and it remains excellent.

Hugo at D.S. Patterson was great. He came on time, took a look and said it wouldn't be a problem, we got a price we really liked and got the work done the next week or so and it was finished in 2 days. Drying time really is the only thing that kept it from being done in 1 day. 100% satisfied with this guys and will definitely use them again.

John from D.S. Patterson was amazing. My wife and I are looking for excuses to bring him back into our home for drywall work all the time. The work that he did was top notch. My brother and I thought we knew how to properly finish the drywall (mudding and taping) in a large media room. Our end result was less than acceptable. John came in, was blunt in telling us it would have been cheaper to have him mud and tape the whole room rather than have him fix it after a botched attempt. We paid the price and have never looked back. The job John did was detailed and thorough and completely promptly.

Absolute professionalism by a true master of his trade. The work was impeccable and the entire process, from the estimate to billing went flawlessly. My highest recommendation for anybody considering his services. Mr. Patterson personally did the work (no sub-contractor) while we were out of town and took care of everything with the utmost attention to detail.

Incredible artistry! Dave is a master and does all of the work himself. His walls are the centerpiece of my newly refurbished living room/dining room. Very careful, very methodical, very precise. Protected all floors with a full treatment of thick paper which we kept down until the painting contractor finished. If you want an outstanding product, go with Dave.

Hugo, the project manager and my primary contact, and his team were awesome. The project was completed on time and exceeded my expectations. The existing plaster was as old as the house (75 years) and Hugo took great care in his work and completely eliminated the many imperfections of the original work. The paint job he and his team did was top notch and I would definitely use Hugo and DS Patterson company again.

Mr Patterson told us ahead of time when & how long the job would take. He maintained that schedule precisely. He taped plastic on all walls & floors to prevent dust. We returned the day after he finished and the condo was dust free! The job was perfect.

Setting up the contract and date of the repairs could not have been easier. Julie was great. She was very pleasant and professional. Hugo, who was the person who completed the repairs came as scheduled for both the estimate and the repairs, and we couldn't be happier with the results of his handiwork. Drywall repairs has always seemed to me to be sort of an art, and Hugo does wonders with his "brush strokes." Great job at a good price..., would hire D.S. Patterson Co. again, and highly recommend them to others in need of drywall repair.

Excellent! Note, they preferred us to buy tub, tile, shower diverter. An older person without access to a van may not want to do this. They do more than just drywall!

I don?t really know how to rate DS Patterson, because my experience with Julie, who runs the office, was A+, and my eventual experience with the owner, David, was A+ as well. I wish I could rate them separately from Hugo, the person who did the work. Before I go into details below, I want to emphasize that in the end the owner (David) offered to let me pay only the amount that I thought was fair for the job, given all the problems I had. I thought this was incredibly generous on his part. I was willing to pay $800 of the original $1025 initial bid, so obviously I was fine with most of the work that was done. In mid-May, I contacted DS Patterson for an estimate on three things: drywall repair on my master bedroom closet; painting a hall bathroom, and drywall and painting for a garage wall. Julie in the office was a pleasure to deal with, both on the phone and via email. Hugo came and gave an estimate. I asked him to break down the estimate to specifics, and it was $675 for the closet and garage drywall repair; $125 for bathroom painting; and $225 for garage wall painting. I thought the estimate was very reasonable and I liked Hugo, so I sent in my deposit, and contacted Julie for scheduling. At that point she told me there would be a 4 week delay in scheduling. When I told her I was disappointed because she had initially said 2 weeks, she told me that they had an unexpected large job come up. However, she offered to check with Hugo to see if he would do the job over evenings and weekends so he could come sooner, which I thought was really nice. Hugo came and did the master bedroom closet drywall, which came out great. He painted the hall bathroom, which was adequate, but not great. The problem came with the garage wall. I think because he was working evenings and weekends on our job, he tried to rush the garage wall. Coordinating our schedules was difficult and I think he was too eager to be done with the job. On one rainy night, in four hours, he put on two coats of kilz primer and two coats of white paint. He told me he was finished, and I was shocked when I came out to the garage. It looked terrible, the color was uneven, the wall looked striped with beige and white. I gave him a check for the full amount but told him I was extremely disappointed. Instead of taking responsibility, he gave excuses?it was because the drywall was old and because I wanted white paint (neither of which he mentioned as potential problems when he gave the estimate). The next day I called the kilz primer company. They said you need to wait a minimum of several hours between each coat of kilz and each coat of paint in dry conditions. (Hugo had done all 4 coats in 4 hours under rainy conditions). Hugo also did a poor job with the drywall in the garage, with gouges, bumps, and missed areas. I wrote to Julie about my concerns. In the end Hugo came back to fix the drywall in the garage. That time he did a perfectly fine job on the drywall. He still made excuses about how the paint job came out, again blaming the age of the drywall, the paint color I chose, and the fact that I wanted latex and not oil paint. When I pressed him that it was his role to tell me these issues at the time of the estimate, he finally admitted it was his fault. As I noted above, David, the owner, said I only had to pay whatever I thought was fair, and I paid for everything but the garage wall painting. Eventually my husband re-did the painting job, following the manufacturer?s instructions for waiting time between coats of primer and coats of paint. It looked great. The problems had nothing at all to do with the age of the drywall or the paint color; it was because Hugo rushed the job. If you look at other reviews on Angie?s list, you?ll see my experience was atypical (although there is one other reviewer who thought they did a better job on drywall and not a great job on painting). I think Julie is incredibly nice, and David?s offer was extremely generous. I would suggest if you do use them that you do not use Hugo for painting.

Overall went well. Mr Patterson came himself promptly repaired the wall and did a wonderful. Professional job.
