 + -1 more1. Antique clock was repaired in 15 minutes while we waited. It works fine now. 2. Electric lock was repaired in 5 days, 5 days ahead of what we were told. Clock is working fine and workmanship was very good.
Description of Work: 1. Minor repair of an antique German wall clock, and 2. Replace electric motor of an old electric clock with a quartz, battery-powered clock.

 + -1 moreI have a wall clock and it is over 100 years old. It has been in the family for a while. When I came here it stopped working. I went to another clock shop and they put in a new main spring which did not surprise me. It run for a couple of years and then stopped again. The clock maker was not there. My grand daughter moved in with the clock, installed it on a wall and moved a pendulum and the clock started working. There was no explanation. She explained to me that the clock has to be hanging at a certain position. She was knowledgeable about it. The clock has been moving since then.
Description of Work: We used them to repair our clock.

 + -1 moreI have both purchased clocks there and I've had clocks repaired there. They're absolutely top drawer. They are extremely customer service oriented and consummate professionals. They are exceptionally well skilled and you just, that's, for me, the only place I would consider going.
Description of Work: I really like the Vienna Clock Shop. My last visit was about 6 months ago. About 2 years ago they serviced my grandfather clock and they actually had to make a part for it.

 + -1 moreGreat job for me but for someone who has immediate gradification this shop might prove to be too much of a long wait. Folks, this is a lost art and there are fewer and fewer clock repair shops around that would be able to do this type of work. I wanted an old clock that had sentimental meaning to me repaired and got exactly that in a very professional, perfectionist way and that takes time to do right. Patience will pay off here.
Description of Work: Took my Seth Thomas World War Two Navy clock in over 2.5 years prior and was given an estimate of 18 months. I checked in at 18 months then 2 years and so on and each time was told it will be some time but they were working on it. After 2 years I started to get a little concerned and called when Donnie the person actually repairing the watch got on the phone and described the issues he was having with my particular clock. He explained that he was searching for a solution and needed a particular part and recognized that it had been some time but if we were patient he wanted to get it right. I let it go at that trusting a perfectionist and it paid off. After 2.5 years of trusting them with our clock I got a call to come pick it up. At the same time I brought another clock to be repaired depending on the out come of the first one's repair. Upon arrival it was explained to me all the necessary repairs and I was presented with all the parts that were replaced or fabricated from scratch. My Navy clock was not well taken care of in years past and some of the parts were...well.. abused or not original or fit correctly. I felt the work performed, although taxing on patience was beautifully done. In addition the Swedish Cartel Clock I brought in was repaired on the spot and is working flawlessly as well as the Navy Clock that took 2.5 years to restore.

 + -1 moreThey assessed a gift of a grandfather clock, which was ruined. They also offered us grandfather clocks from other places, so we bought some of them. The customer service was good. They gave us tons of choices and plenty of time to decide. They were absolutely thorough in terms of knowledge and gave door service.

 + -1 moreI cannot say enough good things about this place. They are professional, friendly, honest and do great work. I have to drive @ 45 minutes to get there, but the trip is well worth it. This is an absolutely outstanding business.
Description of Work: An inexpensive but much loved wooden wall clock stopped working. The Clock Shop quoted $35 for the repair but dropped it to $30 after the job was done. They replaced the mechanism and hands while I waited. They suggested that I spray paint the hands to coordinate with the colors in the clock, something that I would not have thought of, and then they even offered to do it for me when they saw that I was uncomfortable with taking the hands off myself. That was service above and beyond! A few years ago I brought in a much more valuable chime clock that had stopped working after a cross-country move. A local clock maker had given me a quote of several hundred dollars to repair the clock, but The Clock Shop totally replaced the insides with new clockworks for less than the quote to repair.

 + -1 moreThey estimated 5-6 weeks and it took 6 weeks. The clock performed well for about 6 months. However, the same pendulum that sounded like it needed work before is again not sounding so good. Although it probably only needs oiling, the clock shop told me the clock should be good for 1-2 years before it would need oiling again.
Description of Work: I brought the clock internals and face from a grand father clock in for repairs. The clock was chiming very slowly and one of the pendulums would squeak (more of a grating sound), when it was being wound.

 + -1 moreThe clock ran well after service. About a year or so later, the tune selector faulted, now it has only 2 of the 3 tunes available. At this time, about another year later the hour chiming is one DONG off, i.e. at 3 o'clock it only dongs 2 times. I suspect the shaft setting screws he adjusted when he cleaned it are not secure and things are slipping. I'm hesitant to take it back to him because I believe this function is basic to all machines of this type, and it wasn't done properly, and he will charge to fix it since it has been 3+ years, so it's out of warranty. Remember the clock ran 30+ years with no problem, so it has to be something he did or didn't do. I don't know exactly if I'm being fair about this, but I think I am.
Description of Work: The clock needed cleaning, it would not run. It is about 35 years old and never had a problem until this.
