Basement Remodel, General Remodeling
A friend had used Jim for work in her house; I had met him and seen the quality of his work. He is genial, trustworthy and conscientious, but hard to pin down on estimates. He was responsive to my ideas but not always creative about offering alternatives. After pulling out a toilet and finding some damage to the floor beneath, we had to remove a sizable section of 1" floor tile. Jim said he could retile and did so; in retrospect a better and more cost-effective long-term solution might have been to pull up all of the tiny 1" tiles and install 6" floor tile.
Also, the newly-installed toilet kept leaking; Jim replaced the wax seal twice before taking the toilet out and figuring out that it was defective and had a crack. In the meantime, the grout between the new tile had become discolored. NOT happy about that episode. Jim did not offer any recompense for the damage the toilet did to the tiles.
I would use Jim again depending on the project. His tile work is beautiful, although the grout is flaking on the kitchen backsplash only 2 1/2 years out.
