I have had Cox home security for 4+ years. The first three were great. They then came to give me an updated control panel and it was nothing but problems from that point on. My alarm goes off all the time to the point that it is useless. Evidently the sensors on my patio door are so sensitive that they go off with the change of temperature. If you have anything but a wood door you are in trouble. And the sensors keeps trying to connect and the batteries keep going dead which puts the system down. The service people have come out and were very pleasant and have in their words "tried everything they can try". Replacing the door is not in my budget right now so I have finally decided that if they can't provide the service then why pay for it. This is were the terrible customer service starts. Mind you that I have Cox TV, internet and phone too and have been a Cox customer for 17+ years. The first 2 times I called I got someone and when I told them I want to disconnect my service because they can't get it to work they hung up on me. Both times!!! I called a third time and finally talked with someone telling them my problem with the alarm system and that the service technician says there is nothing else they can do. I then proceeded to say I would keep it if it worked but because it doesn't I have no choice to cancel the service. She was very rude. She finally said she would cancel the service. She asked to put me on hold and I said that was fine but please don't disconnect me again be that has been done twice already. She said "You don't have to worry about that again since you are disconnecting". She came back and said it was disconnected as of that day. I asked if I have to return the equipment and she stated "no, you can keep it.". The interesting thing is that on May 1st I had a service technician at you house for an upgrade to my DVR service. I was chatting with him when he was working and told him I disconnected the home security because they couldn't get it to work. He saw the equipment was still there and asked if I wanted him to take it. I stated that they said they didn't want it. He told me that they say that but if they ask for it in a month or so and I can't return it they will charge me for the unit and it costs like $300+ . You have to keep it. He also told me when he was looking at my service that they did not disconnect it as of the date I called like she told me but a date in the future. I had him take the equipment and turn it in for me with the old equipment he was taking for the tv. I do not tolerate this dishonesty very well and the home security division does not embrace the good cox customer service provided with the tv, internet, phone division. I caution anyone thinking of using cox home security. They are dishonest and if you have a problem don't expect good customer service. I am very disappointed and would NEVER consider taking them again.

My experience with them was great. It's a great system, easy to use, gives you a lot of easy applications to be able to add to the security system as they grow and something that we didn't take advantage of it yet that we may add but it's nice because it's all based on a call system through their tower so you don't have to worry about your landlines phone. They installed a number of cameras and there's an apps that you can use and we can access our alarm system from our iPad or iPhone or our smart phone and wherever we are, we can access the cameras to see what's going on if we get a signal that's something is going on. I know that a lot of other companies are selling this type of security system but I have a lot other services, my cable, internet, my phone, so I decided to add it as well. They made it kind of easy because everything just comes to in one bill rather than having to pay 2 or 3 separate companies. They seems to be very responsive and the technician who came to do the work was really good. He answered all my questions, went thoroughly over the system with us and then he checks everything else to make sure that not only the alarm system is functioning properly but then all of our services are getting feed. There was a severe interference coming to our main t.v. and he rewired that and then he went in to our main box for all of the cable and put in the connectors. It took him another hour including what I signed for. My reception is wonderful, internet is good, and I got a a really nice state-of-the-art line system.
