In order to make an appointment with Case Design / Remodeling you have to fill out a form on the web. The fact that there's no phone number listed to set an appointment should have been a red flag. After two days, I received an e-mail back from Case stating that they would be interested in setting an appointment. I replied back to this e-mail asking them to please call me in order to find a time in which we all could meet.. Another two days or so passed with no phone call back, and much back and forth via e-mail, I found that they had associated my original request with someone else's personal information, and they had been calling this other person, and not getting through. (First sign that they didn't have their act together) So I made an appointment after speaking to their appointment person, stating that I'd be meeting with Susan on 3/28. Then on 3/24 I received another phone call stating that Susan was unavailable, and I'd be meeting with David on 3/28. This was interesting as they initially had stated that Susan would be the perfect person for us to meet with based upon her expertise. Yesterday, David showed up on time. First let me state that Case Design has a structured path that they expect customers to go down. If you're a DIY'er, or want to save money by doing some of the demolition work yourself then it's likely that this isn't the company for you. What is most annoying is when an individual comes in on a sales call, does an inspection of the premises, and then states things in the house aren't up to code, and their wrong in their assessment based upon the actual code. It seems they must work to pad their quotes to unsuspecting homeowners by stating code violations where none exist, even when it's outside the scope of the project. Beware of Case Design as they take you down a path that involves payment before they'll give you their fixed cost estimate. The ballpark figures they provide out of their manual have a 20K range under multiple scenario's and are just about worthless. If you're truly lost and don't know where to begin this might be a good fit, but if you're budget conscious, and are interested in working jointly with your contractor to save money where possible, I might suggest that you look elsewhere.

We used the Fred division which is more handyman type. I thought they were very good. The people I worked with were willing to work me and make everything how I wanted it if I was not happy that asked how I wanted it and redid it. They have a 5 year warranty on their work. When all work was done they sent me a booklet to write down all stuff I had problems with and they would come back in a few months and fix it. I found them on the remodelers. They do fabulous work but it is very upscale. I had Case come out and he said it was a job they probably would handle but they told me about their division of Freds. When they actually came out they said they were on Angies List. I liked talking to them. My husband thought they were a little bit on the high end. I thought the price was fair. When they had to do extra work like put in a fan and they charged us at a handyman rate which was not higher then other handyman rates. I thought it was a good company.
Description of Work: I used Case Design/Remodeling Inc. to fix our basement, redid under our stairs. They turned a concrete area into an open area with drywall and a closet. They put in canned lightening in the larger room in the basement. They worked in the utility room and put fluorescent light and a new laundry sink with a shelf and rod. They put up some boards on the wall since it is not a finished area. They fixed and reinforced closets. They fixed a drawer in the bathroom. Did some things to our front door and in our kitchen. Put new panel doors in linen closet. Also outdoor lighting b front door, back door and deck. Refinished some ledges in the living room and the top had wood on and the paint would not be right. They made it like a finished cabinet.
