The initial rough in went fairly quickly and appeared to be professional. The concrete slab was staked out clearly denoting the intended pour and all plumbing pipes were clearly buried and marked.  There were several weeks delay in poring the concrete due to heavy rain during which time none of plumbing or slab frame was disturbed.  We kept in touch with the plumber nearly every day to let him know the status of the weather and conditions of the ground.  At no time did the plumber come back out to the site to double check anything.  Construction of the garage began once the slab was poured and set.  The first indication of a problem was when the plumber came to begin working and claimed the concrete company had poured the 26 ton of concrete slab four (4) inches off making all of the plumbing pipes come up in the wrong spot through the concrete.  The toilet flange was too
close to the outside wall, the shower drain was in the wrong place, the pipes came up for the faucets and water heater on the wrong side of walls?you name it.   None of it was the plumbers fault of course as he blamed everyone else for everything.   The plumber called nearly every day after that for several weeks to give one reason or another why he could not work.  There was always a problem or he was always waiting for a ?buddy who knows how to do this stuff?.  When he finally came with his buddy, they did a considerable amount of work and left a bunch of tools.  It looked like he was going to come back and finish up the job in a few more hours work so when he asked for more money I paid him the balance....but he didn't for several more weeks.  I eventually jack hammered around the toilet flange myself in order to hopefully help speed things up.  He eventually came back, finished up moving the toilet flange and then began work on the ditch.  Weeks went by and eventually that was "done"?and so was my well water main line that he hit with the trencher (that I wound up having to repair myself because he left and didn?t return for weeks again).  I knew that I was in trouble because when he hit the water main and called me on the phone he said that "he didn't know what he hit but it was a couple of pipes that had water spraying out".  I live next to 100K+ acres of woods so NO chance of city water...  Then after a few weeks he finally sent his nephew over to dig the hole under the house footer because he couldn't for some reason.  I dug quite a bit and also hand chopped out some huge roots that the trencher couldn?t go through so he could lay the pipes in...hoping it would help speed things up.   Weeks passed and he came out and connected the sewage pump to the line to the house.  That was the last we have seen or heard from him other than one or two texts with new and unusual excuses why he couldn?t come out.  Eventually, I crawled up under the house myself and tied in the water and sewer in a couple of hours.  I energized the water and replaced all of the leaking PEX connectors he put on incorrectly.   I filled in all the ditches and finished installing the shower myself.  At some point I will also repair the building where he backed into it with his van.  We don?t know what ever happened to Mr. Pat McKown, but highly recommend he get into another business line than plumbing.   This poor guy is in bad shape and we wish him better luck in the future.
