Danny's Driveway

They came and gave us an estimate and we signed a contract in December, but they warned that the ground was too cold to do it then. This spring, we were apparently at the top of their list. They called, gave us a probable date, and when the date came they showed up and quickly laid the pavement.

We had had tar and chips put down on the whole drive the year before by a door-to-door and apparently incompetent paver, McNeil and Sons, and it had quickly washed away in the rain because the job was very, very poorly done and the approach was not suitable to the steep hill. One of the problems, we believe, was in totally inadequate compacting. Danny's had appropriate equipment and not only compacted with a huge piece of machinery but then went over it with push equipment to finish it. We are very pleased with the job; it's very smooth and it's a pleasure not to go over huge bumps on the hill.

He did great work; my driveway is fairly long, like 166 feet. The driveway was originally put in in 1990 when I built the house and I had some problems with it. In the past I had used Danny's a number of years ago to re-seal it and I did not even know he had built his business beyond doing re-sealing out of the back of a pickup truck to now having a whole fleet of trucks that does driveway replacements and all that. They came in and pulled out most of the old driveway, up to a point where I agreed with them that they did not need to go any further with completely pulling out the old driveway. Then they put a new one in and the whole job was done really well and quickly; I was impressed, actually. He was very focused and was on the job every day because he owned the company; they did a great job. The driveway still looks good; his uncle comes back every year and re-seals it.
