There are a few ways to answer this question, so will provide the full story.
Steve came and started in the flooring, and picked one of the tougher spots next to the doorway. He got the piece in, but damaged the board a bit and the floor squeaks a bit. He then tackled a similar spot, and eventually got that piece down, but it is not fully attached (there is a gap in the flooring, and the seam is raised up so the floor squeaks right there and makes a snap sound when walking by it at times (it is a hallway, so high traffic area).
The rest of the flooring project went fine.
He then installed the baseboards. I do not know a lot about this (which is why I hired someone). He put the boards on the wall, and It was getting late towards the end of the job, and you could tell he was rushing (understandable) to finish. He was supposed tonout on the transition pieces, but said that he did not have the tools to do so (glue?), and i said that i would figure that part out. He did not offer to cut those oieces for me, which i failed to realize until later. I felt bad that it was late, and the baseboards looked ok to me at the time, so said "thank you" and paid him.
The next day, when I was filling in the nail holes with putty and getting ready to finish everything, I notices a few big issues:
- the boards did not line up evenly against each other (not all boards, but several were not level with each other)
- an entire section was not completed (and I did not notice this because there was an object in front of it)
- one of the boards was hanging off the wall because there was only 1 nail in it, and it needed at least 2 or 3
I emailed Steve and asked him to come back and finish the work (I requests that he finish nailing in the one piece, install the last piece of trim, and install the transition pieces with the glue I purchased). I said that if he did not complete the work then it would affect the review I gave him on here. He called my email unprofessional, and basically told me to have a nice day. I admit that my email was frustrated, but it was fact based. Just because someone is telling you that the work you did did not meet expectations does not mean they are being unprofessional.
So now I need to figure out how to fix this, and I am in a pickle because of those last boards that were not installed. May force me to have another contractor come in and do the work
In terms of his professionalism, I saw way too many a** shots, where at least 1/3 of his a** was out (cheeks and all). Also, as he was struggling with this pieces, there was a stream of curse words and loud grunts and groans of exasperation. It made my boyfriend and I somewhat uncomfortable, and it was our place! Anyway, I was willing to overlook all of that (and would not have listed it on here) if the quality was up there, but since there are still issues that I have to address I am including it all.
He also said that he is licensed and insured... May look into that and report it to the licensing board

He was very quick and efficient. The issue we had with them is about 9 months after the job was done we noticed there was mold growing on some of the mortar joints. We contacted him multiple times over a period of months to request that he come to look at the problem to no avail. We talked to him briefly but was never able to get him to come back to the house. We gave up. We don't recommend using him.
