WILLIE BROWN

Mr. Brown called claiming to be a do-it-all handyman. I decided to give him a try since I can quality check work myself. He was out to the job site very fast, identified the problem, and I sent him to the store to get materials that I would furnish with a job cost of $140, 3 quoted hours @$40/hr, plus $20 gas. He called me the next day, said my ductwork was pinched and was not flowing, that there were exposed wires not in junction boxes on the ground, and that he had spent 11 hours underneath the house replacing 4' of pipe and doing two unauthorized jobs: replacing the washer drain line and cutting another crawl access in the back of the house. This would all have been great, but Mr Brown said I needed to pay him $40 an hour for 11 hours, there were no loose wires on the ground that were connected to anything (I had them all replaced) and the ductwork was impossible to pinch down because it was 6" line in a 8" joist cavity. Not only that, but from having the HVAC and electrical redone, I knew that a new crawl access was not necessary since there was access to the rear of the crawl, and to boot, the crawl access was not squared off and not covered when I came out to witness the carnage. I paid Mr. Brown $140 once he squared of the cavity and installed a cover and I personally checked the plumbing work. There were several other peculiarities too many to go into detail....bottom line, this guy doesn't really know how to be a handyman, is not knowledgeable about house systems, and will try to pad his bill...STAY AWAY!!!
