I've used them about three times in 10 years. I have always been satisfied. I was very happy with them. I thought it was a good price. He was very responsive. This is the third time I've used him. It took about two hours to complete the work. There were four people to come out and complete the work. The workers were courteous and hard-working.

They were able to come within an hour after I called to remove a fallen pine tree.  They were willing to price match another offer I had received, and I decided to go with them because they could remove the tree right then.  We discussed trimming the broken and dead branches off a nearby tree for additional, which was fine.  We've known that tree needed trimming for awhile now.  They later asked about trimming trees in front.  We had a gorgeous maple tree in our front yard that we considered perfect.  It was huge.  It was full.  And we had just had it trimmed so we could walk freely under it.  The guy asked me about cutting the front trees while we were in the back yard and for that 1 minute I somehow lost my mind and agreed to whatever he suggested.  Normally, I take forever and a day to decide something.  Normally, I'd go and look and have them talk me through it.  But for that 1 minute, I was distracted.  Hey, it happens, right?  I've got 2 kids.  I also had another guy fixing my broken garage door at the same time.  I'm entitled to be distracted sometimes.  But that was one minute I wish I could take back.  I really, truly wish I could take it back.  Because part of what he suggested was butchering our beautiful maple to "raise the canopy".   Our maple didn't need its canopy raised.  It was perfect just the way it was.  Apparently, raising the canopy meant completely removing the bottom 5 feet of branches and foliage.  That isn't your usual trimming job.  When I saw what they had done to our maple, I literally told him that he broke my heart.  His response?  "I told you we'd be cutting every tree in the yard.  Was I talking too fast?"  And then, "The canopy wasn't level" (actually, it's still not level.  In fact, the cutting job highlights how little growth there is on one side vs the other).  "It was only 3 limbs" (actually, it's clearly more than 3.  You can just look at the fresh cuts and count more than 3).  "It'll grow back.  That's why you trim a tree, right?"  ...  When I started lamenting again later (because he really did break my heart), he broke in mid-lament to ask me for something cold to drink.  Yep, he did.  So now I've got years of regret ahead of me because I get to see my butchered tree every single day, unless we move.  I paid for that privilege and got no sympathy in return.  And on top of that, he told me someone will come in the morning to remove the stump.  The person didn't come until 3 days later, and never checked back in with us when he was done.
As a service provider, especially one that deals with aesthetics that can't be undone, I think it irresponsible not to make sure your client understands what will be done.  Talking about the front yard when you're in the back yard is not the right way to do business, especially on the first visit with a client.

Did the job as described.  No problems.
His price was less than half of other estimates I had received.

Guy just came up to me while I was in the yard, asking if I needed any tree work done (he said they had just done some work down the street). I had been thinking about trimming the big oak in the back. I had talked to my neighbor about it and had gotten one other estimate. I told him I wanted 4 large branches cut out (and some small ones).  i decided to go a head and get it done. He cut the small and two of the large ones, but just trimmed the ends of the other two large ones saying that's all that was needed. I think they just didn't want to go through all the work to get these large/high branches down. I got tired of arguing with them about it, so said OK.

The tree removal team cut down and removed the tree quickly and efficiently.  They cleaned up all the branches and took everything with them.  However, the stump removal phase encountered some problems.  First, the guy had trouble starting his stump grinding machine.  It turned out he was out of gas.  So we gave him over a gallon of gas so he could get started.  Then, while working on the third (of five) stumps, the machine tumbled over and some pieces (of the machine) broke off which prevented him from completing the job that evening.  Two days later he returned (after fixing the stump grinder) and completed the job without incident.  Despite these problems/delays, the results were quite good.  The stumps were ground down several inches below ground level; that exceeded our expectations.

France's Tree Service contacted us by door to door salesman in our neighborhood the first weekend in November.  They offered to deliver a half cord of hardwood firewood during the next week for $140.  We agreed.  Later in the week we contacted them to confirm delivery and they seemed to not know about the order.  We did not hear back from them.  Then on 11/27/12 they showed up to make the delivery and receive payment.  My wife was home and accepted the delivery even though it was several weeks late.  The wood appears to be of decent quality but the 1/2 cord measurement is a little loose.  I'm not sure we really received all the wood we should have.  They did stack it neatly and did not leave any mess.
