All of the employees of your company were a pleasure to work with. Dawn and Gary handled all my questions and pre-move estimates.
The crew, Eric, Luke and John, who moved me out on the 9th of September and in the new house on the 10th, where fantastic. They never stopped and went out of their way to help make the move as smooth as possible. Not only did they know their stuff, but were really nice and friendly guys.
They moved over 10,000 pounds out and in the new house in two days, with no damage. I was extremely impressed. I have moved many times thru the Navy and I must say this was one of the best moves. I would highly recommend Hampton Roads Moving and Storage.
how I could get packing material from their office, the approximate weight of my goods, insurance, etc. The driver "Peanut" arrived right at 8:30, which was the start of the 2-hour window, and Bruce, AJ and Jamal all introduced themselves, set up protective wraps in my home and got right to work. When they realized my husband had had a medical emergency while at our new house in Florida and I had done all the packing-except for high-value items which they packed-by myself, they really took over. Strange as it might seem when talking about movers, I felt they had my back. They were very professional, friendly, fun, and cleaned up after they finished that afternoon. Peanut gave me his cell number so I could contact him if I had any questions and said he and Bruce would unload me in Florida. The delivery date was delayed by the dispatcher because of another pick-up that was added, but Peanut and Bruce arrived early, off-loaded without taking a break and took away empty boxes, etc. My husband and a friend were impressed with how accommodating they were and enjoyed working with them. Everyone I dealt with during this process was friendly and helpful.
This is a top notch company. Excellent communication through out the entire process. They are on time and go over everything with you. There are no hidden costs. They inventory everything, including condition of items and do another inventory at end to validate everything was moved and in the same condition. They take care in wrapping and moving everything. Never have I had a better experience moving. The three gentlemen that did the move were extremely professional and communicated and was willing to answer any questions. Treated our things like it was there own. I would only recommend places if they are above and beyond and this company is.
From our initial contact through email and subsequent phone calls and email followups, the local office was very responsive to our needs and very quick to respond to our many moving date changes. Thank you Dawn for being so friendly and professional during these many changes.
On the day of the move, Kenny and DeArthur arrived early but called 1st to make sure we were ready for them. Upon arrival, they did a quick walk thru of our place and immediately went to work getting our loose items wrapped and our furniture moved down from the 2nd and 3rd floors. One item to be moved from the 2nd floor was a very heavy leather sleeper sofa that had to be manipulated thru a narrow doorway. When they saw that the sofa would not make it thru the doorway without possible damage to the leather, DeArthur did a quick survey and determined that it could be hoisted over the 2nd floor deck railing. They put a strap on the frame and with a little help from my husband and brother-in-law, the sofa was lowered to the ground without any damage to our sofa or our deck, so my sincere thanks go out to these guys.
While packing the truck, they made sure all of our furniture and many loose items were wrapped and protected properly for our long distance move. Throughout the entire effort, they were friendly, professional, and treated all of our things as if they belonged to them. This is the 1st time we have hired a moving company and we were 100% pleased with everything. They estimated that we would need 2 hours and they had everything moved out, wrapped, packed, and loaded in 2 hours. We drove 4 hours to our new home and not one item moved during the trip. We unpacked everything the next day and as we expected, nothing had been damaged in the slightest way . We highly recommend this company esp if you are fortunate enough to have Kenny and DeArthur doing the job.
Many thanks
Linda
I called to arrange for my free boxes and then was told I could only pick up boxes that were used and available at the warehouse. They did not have what I needed. I called Garry and he immediately went to Home Depot, purchased and delivered a huge stack of new boxes in the sizes that I needed. I was really impressed by this gesture. I later went to the warehouse for larger boxes and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
The three packers showed up on time and each worked in a different area. The man who appeared to be the team leader brought a big gulp sized Mountain Dew upstairs with his clipboard and immediately spilled the entire contents on the carpet. I grabbed towels right away to assist with the clean up and told him that the carpet was being cleaned in 2 days anyway. The stain did not come out with the professional carpet cleaning.
I told them what NOT to pack. They completed the work in several hours. I was asked to inspect each room to make sure everything was done. They overlooked a large closet under the stairs and immediately packed the contents when I pointed it out. Nothing in the drawers of the vanity in the guest bath was packed. I could not check all the areas in the kitchen because huge, heavy packing boxes were in front of the cabinets. While the packers were still there, I found a cabinet that had contents that were not packed, which was packed after I pointed this out.
I was informed that certain items like liquids could not be packed. After the packers left, I discovered a lot of items in the laundry closet that could have been packed but they were just lumped into the category of "liquids that can't be packed" , and they were not liquids or cleaning agents.
Items that were packed that we not supposed to be packed: a case of prescription dog food, a TV remote, the turntable from the microwave oven. I had to search a number of boxes to find the dog food. In looking for the food, I had to move some boxes that were already packed and discovered that at least two more kitchen cabinets were still full of items that had not been packed. I never found the TV remote or the turntable.
What I did find was a bit of a shock. Gary said I did not have to worry about packing all the items in some of the drawers. When I was searching for the TV remote that had been packed, I found very small items from a sewing cabinet all dumped into one wad of paper. Then I found another box packed this way, like it was just a rush job with everything loosely dumped into paper. If I had known this was the M.O., I would have packed it myself.
It was my assumption that one of the packers was new and being trained, as she received a lot of guidance from another packer.
The movers came on the following day to pack the truck. The driver was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was clear he had a lot of moves under his belt and he instilled confidence. He explained a lot of why he was packing the truck in a certain manner. The other men packing the truck were also friendly and efficient. This part of the move went well.
We were expecting our household goods earlier in the week but it ended up being delivered on the last day promised. Everything went into storage.
We monitored the unloading so we could take items we needed immediately. About 90% of our goods are still in storage so I am not sure of any damage or missing items. All the large pieces of furniture looked intact.
