A quick phone call to Virginia Ground Covers to inquire about mulch availability and delivery turned into a mulch delivery order the very next day. I was put on hold due to a few orders on the phone ahead of me but the employee was courteous and polite. The waiting time was minimal. I placed an order for 50 bags of double shredded hardwood mulch in 3 cu. ft. bags delivered to my residence. I was asked where the delivery was to be placed and I stated on the driveway by my garage. When I came home from work the day of the delivery, the only thing that I was irritated by was that it looked like they just backed the truck into my driveway and pushed the bags out. I had a few ripped bags with spilled mulch on the driveway. I ended up having to restack all 50 bags into piles as well. Overall the mulch quality was good, the price was better than other companies I had looked at, the service was extremely prompt. I would definitely use Virginia Ground Covers again for my mulching needs.

My last firewood guy disappeared and I am trying to find a new source of firewood. Thinking that I would kill two birds with one stone, I gave them a call for both firewood and mulch. They have a split truck (has a divider) and can deliver both on the same truck. They quoted me a price (delivered) for two cords of firewood and a separate price for the mulch (with a $35 delivery charge). I asked that, since they are bringing it out in one truck and that the delivery price was presumably already built into the price of the firewood, could they waive the delivery fee on the mulch. The woman that I talked to was pretty abrupt with the no. Did not get a big sense of customer service from them. Asked her to ask a manager.... will update this when I hear back.

I planned to by sand and gravel for walkway project. I researched and
found 21A good for paver base. When I called to order, I asked them to confirm that 21A is the right choice for paver base. Virginia Ground Cover
recommended stone dust. I switched my order to stone dust based on the
good review of their professionalism. However, the real product is
really sand like, which raised my concern. I did further research and
found out stone dust is NOT recommended because for paver base. One
reason is that it holds water and can cause serious issue in winder.
Another reason is that it settles over time.

I called them on a Saturday and they had it delivered after two hours of my call. The delivery person was also very pleasant.

HELPFUL STAFF ASKED QUESTIONS TO MAKE SURE I ORDERED THE RIGHT TOPSOIL, AND MULCH FOR MY PROJECT. THE DELIVERIES ARRIVED QUICKLY AND WERE PLACED WHERE I HAD SPECIFIED.
