We initially had them come look at our yard in 2012; it took us nearly 2 years to figure out what we wanted to do and then execute the plan and not once did I feel rushed. In the interim, we decided to have another company install some hardscaping for us, in an effort to save on costs. What a mistake. The hardscaping job was completely botched - it was a nightmare. I called SOTA and asked them to come out and take a look before the job was finished, b/c we had extensive damage to our yard and I knew that they were going to have to fix it. I received some great advice from SOTA that helped me guide the hardscaping company as they finished the work, and then we were able to provide an invoice to them from SOTA as to what it was going to cost us to fix they shoddy work.
SOTA then came and remediated some of the issues with the drainage/etc. that had been caused by the first company, and removed all of the sand/gravel that that company had left all over our grass, replaced it with sod, etc. Along with that, they helped solve some longstanding drainage issues and also made our backyard a place we truly love to be! Jonathan started the process for us, and when he moved Pat helped us refine the design and was the project manager that oversaw the installation. Jose, our foreman, was wonderful, easy to communicate with, and very receptive to my Type A personality and micromanaging.
About 5 days after the work was finished, Pat stopped by to check on how the plantings and sod were doing, make sure we were watering enough, and generally see how the landscaping was doing as we had several thunderstorms and very hot weather. We had a few additional drainage issues and he was great about addressing them immediately and offered to send out another crew to do some additional repair work.
This company is not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. I felt well-taken care of throughout the process and never felt pressured into any decisions. When I gave Pat and Jonathan vague direction (i.e., and quot;I don't really like that, but sort of like thisand quot;) they were able to take that information and turn it into a concrete plan which I very much appreciate. I will try to upload some pictures so you can see the work that was done - we have received many compliments and best of all, we truly enjoy being outside our house!
I was introduced to Kevin about four years ago when I moved in to a newly consructed home.
We woroked over the years to design a great landscaping plan that involved new planting beds, hardscaping to complement a new deck and patio, functional needs of taking care of things like spreading gravel under the deck and addressing major drainage issues, as well as installing low voltage lighting throughout my property.
I would not hesitate recomending State of the Art, and I do to all of my famiyl and friends. They are always there and their knowledge and idea have notn only made our home beautiful but also saved us a lot of money along the way.
Kevin, the owner and Jonathan, my prjoect manager have been extremely helpful ,and patient with me as we get closer and closer to achieving my vision. This has included; grading and installing rocks under a new deck, transplanting many trees and removing ones that have dies, creating tree beds and new planting beds around the house and a new patio, as well as givign me ideas for dealing with unique parts of my yard that i couldn;t fgure out what to do with. They have also installed outdoor lighting on trees and in beds for us that have everything looking great when the sun goes down and I use them on a seasonal basis for trimming, mulching and edging.
If you are in search of honest, professional advice and great ideas when it comes to all things landscaping I cannot reccomend this team more highly. Prices are competitive and their knowledge about their business is as good as it gets.
Bill was very good and I would recommend them to others.
