I carefully read and compared company reviews and have had several home inspections over the years, so I expected a quality inspection from HomeKey but even going into it with high expectations I was still surprised and impressed with the thoroughness and conscientiousness of the inspection. My inspector was Mike, and the home is an older one owned by an elderly person so there were many issues to evaluate. The inspection took much longer than the average amount of time and the report was much longer and required much more work to produce, but there wasn't the slightest hint of rushing any of it or skimping at all. I myself suggested the roof could be skipped because I was worried moss had made it slippery and figured it was surely pretty much gone anyway, but Mike bravely went up there, made sure it was safe, then took a good long while in the heat and returned with photos and an issue that requires immediate attention. Likewise, I was surprised at the willingness to enter a very cramped dirt floor crawl space and proceed around the entire foundation... out of sight into the nether reaches... but I have photographic proof! Those are just two examples out of many, but from under the floors to over the ceilings in attic spaces accessible only through ceiling hatches, Mike examined every detail, took photos, and carefully documented the entire process which resulted in a long, thorough and informative report that will make the purchase decision better informed and provide structure for repair decisions. The price of the service was pretty much the going rate, and thus reasonable. I don't see much spread in the pricing of home inspections across companies, so I would feel cautious of any company that deviated by much. The difference in value for your cost would then be the quality of the inspection. Honestly, the cost of HomeKey's inspection could have been higher and would still have been well worth it for the care, time spent, the information provided, and for the assurance having a trained eye on things can give you.

I am delighted with the service that I received from HomeKey. They are the most thorough of any inspection services that I’ve ever had. They found a small gas leak in the furnace that even the plumber had trouble locating when he knew what to look for. I saved much more on my purchase from negotiating from a position of strength than the cost of their inspections, not to mention the peace of mind.

During the walk through, he freely shared insights about all housing systems and risks and answered questions authoritatively. The report deliverable was focused on the contract decision for the buyer, and covered additional detailed information for remediation, updates, and renovation for the future homeowner. Excellently. The appointment process was simple and the pricing was fully transparent. The inspector was very professional, communicative, and exceptionally knowledgeable. Inspector had a well established inspection regimen and all the right tools. The process captured, illustrated, and documented everything. Inspector reviewed major items on the spot and answered questions very clearly. I have tremendous confidence in the thoroughness and accuracy of this inspection.

I needed to conduct a last minute home inspection, and HomeKey Inspections was there for me. Ian scheduled the appointment, and Chad came over to the house two days later. Chad was friendly, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. He also provided me with the most thorough report in less than 24 hours. I worked with Sebastian who did the home inspection and Ian who did the Sewer Line Inspection. They were both personable and excellent. Extremely thorough. Even pointed out things that I didn't think were a bid deal even though they were technically minor code violations. I left the home inspection knowing exactly what I was getting myself into and now I have a list of prioritized projects that I can work over time. They provided full detailed reports with photos and advice how a particular item should be and delivered the reports in a timely manner. Highly recommend this company. They are worth every penny! HomeKey Inspection helped me with a thorough inspection of a property I am planning to purchase. It was very easy to schedule an appointment with them online and they were able to slot me at my preferred time. Sebastian walked me through the entire home inspection process and explained everything, answered all questions during and via phone/email. Ian McNaught also did a sewer scope that unearthed an issue that I was not aware of. Ian also got a second opinion from a licensed plumber which was helpful. I am relieved to know all possible repair/safety issues that can come up with the house in next few years. Their reports were very detailed and I am planning to use it more after I move in. This was definitely a learning experience for a newbie home-buyer for me and I'm glad to have picked them.

Very profession and thorough! Took the needed time to explain what they were finding and why it mattered. Uncovered many small and larger issues and explained the consequences of each. Never rushed, even as it got dark and the inspection kept going.

Excellent company to work with. Jenn at the main office is super helpful and does a great job explaining the process and inspections offered. Sebastian, my home inspector was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient and helpful with my millions of questions. Due to some of the findings from the initial inspection I opt’d to do an additional more thorough inspection of the fireplace in the house. Jenn was able to get the additional contractor out to the house within 1 hour. The reports were provided in the promised time and were extremely thorough and very helpful in determining what was really an issue and what I could live with. In addition, the technology they use was makes it very easy to view , share and compile an ask list in the end. I have worked with several different home inspection companies in the past and hands down this is the best one out there.
