Garage Hero

From all the other poor reviews, it appears as though we ended up in the same boat. He was the lower of the 3 prices we received, although not by a huge margin that would have made me question things. Crew was punctual and professional. They didn't have much of a choice since I fully intended to be there. When it comes to contractors, I'm involved every step of the way unless its a member of the family. I have yet to run into any that would give me a reason why I should fully trust them in this area. Several weeks after the floor was completed we noticed the sealant on the top that was supposed to be impenetrable was not accurate. In fact it started to peel away in certain smaller sections. When Dave returned to review these, he indicated that another coat needed to be applied, so he went ahead and did so. Along with that, he came back to realign some of the garage cabinet doors. Well, needless to say I'm disappointed that the peeling continues with the top sealant, and I continue to have issues with the cabinet drawers. We had asked Dave to return again to look things over, and he provided one excuse after another for not coming out. After several weeks of listening to those, same thing happened to me as others on here, the communication stopped. Based on my feedback and that of others reviewed on here, I would stay clear of this person, and his business.

Well, it started well. Dave is personable and a good salesman. He described the process and results that we could expect. The shop floor was freshly poured virgin concrete. His paint process was to create an impenetrable surface with colored flecks and a clear coat that would be easy to maintain and strongly bonded to the concrete. His crew did the work when we were away, so did not watch the application. Our first indication of a problem was that his crew covered the lens of our security camera while they were there. When we returned we found several issues with the application. There were spots where there was no paint, and bare concrete showed through. The density of the colored paint chips on the floor was much lower than what he had described. There were places where the clear topcoat had not been applied, and there was one large portion (the size of a saucer) right in front of the door where the paint had peeled up off the floor. When we showed some concern about the application he returned and agreed that the application needed to be touched up. We were having an event and so agreed upon an appointment when he would return and repair the problem areas, and recoat the floor. Long story short, he agreed to come several times and never did return to fix the problems. The reasons for postponing sounded reasonable at first, but his communications were fewer as time went by and then stopped. I am not sure whether he intended to complete the job or not, but so far he hasn't and hasn't contacted us about his intentions. Our last message to him after the last time he didn't show up as promised was to just refund us part of the cost and we would take care of it. No response to that. The price he charged was much lower than other contractors, and I guess now I know why. I can't recommend him.

The job was not completed. Dave asked for 1/2 of the payment up front and after he had done about half of the job he asked for the remaining balance because he was in a pinch and needed the money. I have him half of the remaining half. Then he stopped showing up. About 3 months after it was started, he showed up to finish about 75% of the job, never to return again. He never returned any calls. Recently, some of the sealed floor chipped off. I emailed him and called him multiple times. Feeling like I had no other option to try to get a response, I mentioned in an email that I may be contacting an attorney. He wrote back telling me to go ahead.

Prior to selecting Garage Hero - we got 3 other estimates. Not only were Garage Hero's prices competitive it was immediately obvious that they would be easy to work with and help us design the garage that we knew we wanted - but weren't sure how to achieve. We worked with Dave - he took the time to understand how we used our garage and then worked with us to design the garage we were looking for that fit all our needs. He guided us through the process from initial design to installation and was always available to answer questions. Then Dave and his team did EXACTLY what they said they would - on time and on budget. Working with Garage Hero was easy and Dave and his team were always professional, willing to work with us and accomodate our hectic schedules. It is amazing how much stuff we can now store NEATLY in the garage (and OFF the floor!) and how easy it is to keep the garage clean and organized. The StoreWALL system is brilliant and versatile - we can add shelves, hooks and cabinets as we need them and move things around when we want to. The Polyaspartic coating on the floor looks great and compliments the StoreWALL system - it was applied in a single day and will never crack, fade, yellow or peel. It looks great and is easy to clean. You can tell that Dave and his Garage Hero team value their customers and pay close attention to customer satisfacation. I highly recommend this company and their quality products - they are easy to work with, communicate with, professionaly, pay attention to detail, come in on-time and on-budget and we can't wait to work with them again on our next organization project!

Took too long, quality was less than promised, cleanup was poor and nails and screws left on floor.
