I hired the Gallick Group to a second floor expansion/addition of a bathroom into an en suite/second master suite with a luxury bath. The project took a about 8 weeks, and we were very pleased with the final outcome. The job was a bit of a challenge as the expansion/addition had to go out over an existing main floor roof line. The Gallick team handled all the required permits, and even assisted me with HOA approval by attending the meeting to explain the architecture plans when the review board had questions. Martin Tobin was the foreman on the project and he and his crew were all fantastic ? courteous, clean, professional and really worked hard to keep intrusions to our daily lives at a minimum. The subcontractors were also terrific and the plumbing, carpet, electrical, HVAC folks were a pleasure to have on the job. We did have an issue with the roofing subcontractor and their work deliverable (they installed incorrect colored shingles, and left some trash/debris). However, we let the Gallick folks know about our issues and they took care of it on our behalf - like a good general contractor should.
Gallick was not the bottom line cheapest quote that we received, however they were extremely competitive and lower than some of the quotes we got from some of the remodelers that advertise heavily in local magazines. They were also very transparent in itemizing their costs and showing their margins. They were experienced in projects like this one, and the final outcome from the exterior looks like it was always an original part of the house. It was a seamless integration. Their references were also impeccable. When embarking on an extensive project like this one - I am not concerned about saving a few bucks - I want somebody I can trust, that I don't mind having in my home for two months, that is transparent in pricing and will deliver a quality job.
Note - I had them do a few minor change orders outside the scope of the project (e.g. - interior/exterior painting, siding repair, wood rot on some trim etc.) and there is a normal general contractor mark-up on those items. I did not mind paying a little extra for having it done while they were on site rather than scheduling it separately on my own. However, I would recommend that you keep that in mind as you scope your project.
I would not hesitate to use Gallick on our next project. I wholeheartedly support an overall "A" rating for this contractor.
