We hired Joan Lema / Dulles Remodeling, Painting & Services to remodel a bathroom in our home and install extra insulation in our attic, and fix a fan/electrical work in our master bathroom in January 28, 2010. The work was completed about 4 weeks. 1st problem was the installer was not finished installing the floor tile nor was the wall next to the vanity finished...before the granite top people were ready to install the counter top. So the area between the wall and vanity if you look at it you can see it's not finished/smooth. 2nd problem was the floor tile was installed poorly. It was the smaller tiles attached to a mesh screen that make up a larger tile. Once installed they realized the grout was wrong grout. And the tiles ended up setting crooked and uneven and the grout was cracking everywhere. They had a second more seasoned guy dig up the grout and redo some of the job. But for the most part was still crooked and bumpy. Even after all of this we were "semi ok" with it. Payment was finalized and things were ok. We were able to "move on" and live in our new home. He stated his work was guaranteed for 2 years and to call him to check on even the smallest of things that we needed fixed. Three things are outstanding: ----- 1) Receipts for the insulation he installed Jan 2010 so we can get our tax credit. 2) Grout is coming out between bathtub and tile floor...needs to be filled and re-caulked. 3) Fix the fan in the master bathroom...vibration is very loud Action we've taken: ----- 1) Since the install date of the insulation in our attic. We asked for the receipt so we could file for the tax credit in our April taxes this year. Numerous promises were made to send and drop off the receipts and still we have received nothing. At one point he stated he had to move..and needed time to look for the receipts. 2) For a length of time we called Mr. Lema about the receipts and he never picked up the phone and didn't return our call until weeks later. At one point the number did not work. At the same time I looked up his website and that was also down as well. It appears that his domain has been "locked." 3) After reaching him...we set up a meeting on March 17th at 10am to talk about some cracking between the tile floor and bathtub. He agreeed to meet. At 9:45am I called him to make sure he was coming over. I neeed to call twice before I got an answer and it sounded like he was sleeping. He then says, "Ill be over at 3pm." He ends up calling saying he can't make it and how about Friday. I said ok 3pm is good. Friday I call him at 2:30.. He says too busy must reschedule til 6:30pm-7pm. I say ok. Then I call him at 7pm to get only his voice mail. Tried that number 4 times to ensure the call went through. And left a message at each call.
