Information gathering for the estimate was professionally done. Measurements were taken and a complete walk-over was conducted. Estimate provided was clear and unambiguous. Estimate and product literature was professional and high-quality. Scheduling of both the estimate as well as the final work took a few calls, but no more than any standard business with a busy schedule. The house is larger than average, so I was surprised when I was told that it would take 1 work day to complete the job. It ended up taking 2 days, and DryHome apologized profusely for taking longer than anticipated. The worksite was completely cleaned up and there were no "tell-tale" signs of a roof job having been done, i.e.: roofing nails all around the house on the ground, product wrapping laying around, sawdust, etc. The final inspection was in-depth. Took a walk around the roof and pointed out some things they noticed needed to be taken care of but were out of their scope. Overall a very professional job, from start to finish, both on-site and back-office. Friendly and knowledegable staff. I would both recommend DryHome without hesitation as well as use them again myself.
Description of Work: DryHome was contracted to perform a complete roof replacement of everything above roofing boards, including some roof boards that needed replacing.

During a torrential rainstorm last fall, we found water running down in the interior of our house, and we guessed that the 20+ year old roof had finally passed its freshness date. DryHome had been recommended by a friend, so I gave them a call and made an appointment for them to look at my roof and present an estimate. Joe Murden came out in early December to look at the roof. My records show that his estimate was dated the same day. I took bids from four other roofers, but DryHome came in lowest. Since they were highly rated by both Angie's List and Washington Consumer's Checkbook, I decided to accept their bid. I made a 30% partial payment by credit card over the phone. They took all of one day and part of the next to finish the job. They didn't get in the way of anyone coming to or going from the house, and the only thing they needed from us was an outdoor electrical outlet for their equipment. Their cleanup job was great; as far as I could tell, they only overlooked a small fragment of old shingle that I found one in the grass to the side of the house. They came back the next week to make the final inspection, and they issued their final invoice later that week. I called them to make final payment, also using a credit card.
Description of Work: DryHome removed two layers of asphalt shingles, replaced 14 sheets of plywood that had rotted, and laid new underlay and new architectural shingles on the entire roof. While they were at it, they replaced pipe collar flashings, chimney flashings, installed ridge vents on all ridges on the roof, installed an adhesive ice/water shield across the eaves and valleys, and cleaned out the gutters. Finally, they cleaned up any debris they might have left around the house.

When my contractor went bankrupt there were several things on our house to be done. I decided not to call the sub recommended by my contractor because he had seemed high on t he quoted me. I called Dry Home who had done our gutters 5 years ago. Joe quoted me based on tying the new gutters into the existing gutters. This saved me $470 as opposed to the other person who insisted on doing all new. It took a few days to get the quote back and I hand delivered the deposit to make things go faster. Time was of the essence since I had a problem with rain water coming into my new room during heavy down pours and I felt I had to push Dry Home a bit. When they came to install, the installer seemed skeptical that he could use the old gutters. I told him that that's what I had been quoted on by Joe, the existing gutters were theirs, and I didn't intend to pay more. He went ahead and did as quoted though I found it disconcerting. I would have rated them an A on professionalism had this issue not come up. All in all I was happy with Dry Home and the workmanship.
Description of Work: Dry Home installed gutters for our new additions on both the front (new foyer) and back (family room, screened porch) of our home. They also installed a diverter on the roof where the new roofline met the old to direct flowing water away from a vulnerable area of the gutters close to the house.

I got $100 Angie's List discount. They were very good in all respects. There was one minor thing related to a technical part of the roofing where there was a slight miscommunication; but overall, I thought they were good. When they came out, they did the original inspection. They did go into the attic, which everybody doesn't do. They checked out the airflow. They recommended some better ventilation in the attic. The actual part of the job included the ridge vent system. They did the edge air vent system near the edges. They are very professional. The guy who actually did the work, gave the estimate and explained how things would go was very professional. He was accessible. I talked with him and asked a number of questions. He made some changes, as I needed them before I signed a contract. Everything was very professional. I recall that they showed up when they said they were going to. They did a good job. I got it done fairly fast. They started around 8'o clock and finished cleaning around 2:15. It was a pretty big job. They came out the next day to do the gutters. They did a good job cleaning up. They backed the truck up to the house, but they made sure to put the plywood under the truck wheels, so it doesn't shrink into the grass. I found a very few nail after they were gone. They also fixed a loose shutter for me at no cost. The man walked up the ladder to do the work. They used my electrical system and it kept blowing the fuse. As soon as I mentioned it to them, they hooked up their own external gas compressor, so that wasn't an issue anymore. When we had the hurricane, which was 8 months after the roof job was done, they came out to make sure the roof and flashing around the chimney was fine. They were the ones who helped me figure where the leak was in the chimney at no extra cost. They provide a good guarantee on their work. They send a separate inspector or a top guy out to check if the work looks good. They make a follow-up to ensure everything is fine. They are pretty much ballpark with everyone else. I was happy to pay for a good job. I was not too concerned about paying a little bit more.

The estimator was timely and professional. Although I took my time getting other estimates, they were not pushy. The estimate for the amount of plywood that would need replacement was low, but I had expected to have to replace more so I was not surprised, and their cost was still competitive. The clean-up afterwards was thorough, and they came back to touch up.

I would absolutely call them back in the future without hesitation. I spent a lot of money with that project but they did a wonderful job on the roof, on the trim and on my shutters. They had just done a complete face-lift.
Description of Work: I used the services of DryHome Roofing & Siding Inc. The last time I interacted with them was this week. They did my roof, they did my siding, they did my trim and wrapped my trim, so that it never has to be painted, so trim wrap and they did my new shutters. It looks like it is going to cost me about $16000 for the job.

DryHome was recommended by my boss after they did some work for him. With us, they did a beautiful job on every aspect of putting on the new roof, soffit covering and gutters, and excellent job of cleaning up after they were finished. The estimate process and scheduling went very well. The workmen were well trained and always accompanied by a supervisor. The first coating of the new roof was done a few months after the roof was installed, and went well as did the repeat coating this year (one year later). We do them every five years now.
Description of Work: Had a very old roof that we discovered had three more under it - all of which had to be removed - and extensive decking and eave repair done due to rot under the old roofs that had been ignored by previous roofers. The roof was a complicated one because there is no attic and the roof is directly on top of the board/beam ceilings of the main floor of the house. The roof is a nearly flat one so we went with a rolled rubber roof with sheets of foam insulation underneath which is great because there had never been insulation. After putting on the roof, which is heavy duty black rubber, they coated it with white coating for sun reflection. They also put on new gutters and vinyl soffit covering under eaves and on carport ceiling. They did a beautiful job on all of it and excellent job of cleaning up after they were finished.

The Dryhome employee arrived promptly and was extremely nice and friendly. He looked at my roof and told me I did not need a new roof and the leak issue I was having could be solved my just replacing a small section of the shingles, not the whole thing. He was very price conscious, which was nice and seemed knowledgeable. I really wanted to see their estimate and compare it with the other company I really liked but I never heard from Dryhome again. I guess they really believed I didn't need a new roof. Unfortunately, the leak was far worse than they guessed (I went with the other company) and there was extensive wood rot over most of the roof area, not just the leaking part. So I would have rather they evaluated my roof correctly instead of giving me a rosy scenario, even though most homeowners are thrilled to hear it won't cost that much. I'd rather pay the money and fix the roof right.

Response from DryHome Roofing & Siding Inc
In an effort to make sure that callers aren't on hold we have asked that our customers and potential customers go on-line to submit us their information. Between the earthquake, the hurricane and the percentage of rainfall this month (over 9") we have been inundated with phone calls - on average between 150-200 calls per day. If we have neglected to handle this in a manner to your liking we apologize. However, we are a least making sure that everyone does get a call back. In no way are we attempting to hide how busy we are right now. We are even trying to refer some of our callers to other contractors if their need is urgent. At DryHome our customer satisfaction is extremely important to us and we will strive to do better and learn from this past month.

Response from DryHome Roofing & Siding Inc
Here at DryHome Roofing & Siding we strive to answer our calls promptly and provide as much information as possible. Unfortunately, weather and more specifically rain are not predictable. This drastically changes how we manage our business from day to day. As we would like to accommodate each and every customer and potential customer we cannot due to the unforeseen weather conditions. Our average rainfall in September is 3.9" - to date we have received over 9" of rain fall. This is 60% more than normal which means 60% more phone calls and 60% new service calls. DryHome Roofing & Siding has and will continue to maintain customer satisfaction as we have for the last 23 years, at times we cannot foresee the future based on weather conditions.

The solar tube installation went very well. Everything about them is great, including pricing. They're personable and honest, and they clean up well after the job. Overall the job went very well. The estimator gave us an estimate and approximate time frame when they could schedule the work. Gave us samples we needed to provide the homeowners association. Once approved by home owners association, we called and requested they start the work within a week window. They then sent us a contract and instructions of what to do prior to their arrival and what to expect during installation. The started the work within the requested window and completed the siding work the next day. There were some cute extras I wasn't expecting as little box frames around the electrical outlets and water faucets. The job was well done and the workers were professional in the attitude and craftsmanship.

There is not much to tell. Ron Foor came to give us the estimate. He was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. We received the estimate quickly and they did the work promptly and well. The company followed up to make sure we were satisfied. At the time, we were also doing interior remodeling and there was a problem with a flood light on the rooffline after the roof was replaced. They were very responsive when I called and promptly sent an electrician to look at it. It turned out not to be their fault and they were still very gracious about it. We did not have to pay for their trip out to the house. I would definitely use them again.

DryHome was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. To begin with, of the four companies we asked to provide estimates, DryHome was the only company that inspected both the roof and the attic for damage and details. A couple companies just did "estimates w/out inspection" - not even going up on the roof to make an assessment. Another company's rep assured us we had "hail damage" that our insurance company would likely cover! Yeah, right. The DryHome team was the only company that fully detailed what we asked for, providing us with information and an estimate for both roofing and insulation. They were not the least or most expensive (comparing roofing costs alone); and, even factoring in the insulation component, they were still not the highest estimate we received. When my wife and I reviewed the estimates, we had the highest level of confidence in DryHome's cost estimate because of their professional approach, detailed information and the complete accounting for our desired outcome (new roof AND insulation). And boy, are we glad we chose DryHome. Once the work was scheduled, the DryHome team arrived on time and went to work, completing the job in several hours. I came home later that day to see a beautiful new roof on the townhouse -- but there was just one problem. The color of the shingles did not match the rest of the townhomes. Anyone familiar with homeowner associations (read RA) knows that COLOR MATTERS (whether we like it or not)! Hey, we don't know shingles. So when the DryHome rep said he knew what type and color the area called for, we said great and signed the contract. Imagine our dismay when we looked at the contract, looked up the shingle in the brochure and found it to be the one right next to the one we actually needed! Our new roof literally hung in the balance. Now here is where the rubber meets the road when it comes to professional service companies. How do they respond when honest oversights - whether the company's or customer's - cause challenges for closing out a successful project? DryHome contacted us a few days later to arrange for final payment and to ensure we were satisfied with the work their team had performed. My wife said, "yes; however," and went on to describe the particular conundrum we faced. We had what the contract stipulated, but not what we expected - and more importantly - what the homeowner's association required (bland uniformity?). The DryHome rep said she would look into the matter and call my wife back. Within an hour, to our great surprise and even greater relief, she called back to say the DryHome team would come back and install the correct color shingles! My wife and I were simply shocked. There was no muss or fuss. No back and forth - he said/she said. It was cut and dry (no pun intended...well maybe). The DryHome team returned within a week and installed the new shingles. And we couldn't be happier with the results - the roof looks great, the insulation has made a HUGE difference just like the DryHome rep said it would (we were even "chilly" in our upstairs room on a recent 100 degree day), and perhaps even more importantly, what could have been a disastrous situation for us was nipped in the bud by superior customer service from a company that clearly stands behind their commitment to excellence and insuring the quality of work they offer to their clients. I highly recommend DryHome Roofing and Siding. They were fairly priced, their work estimate was accurate (i.e., no hidden charges or "oh, look what we found" moments), their staff (and onsite labor) were honest and professional, and they clearly stand behind the work they perform with a commitment to customer satisfaction.

I initially called DryHome Roofing & Siding, Inc. who had a very high rating on Angie's list and they were recommended from friends as well. They could not come out to even an estimate until over three weeks from the day I called (3/10/2011). I then called my insurance company for a recommendation. Diversified Property Services Inc. went to my townhouse the same day I called them (3/11/2011) and gave me an estimate without me having to be present . I ended up using Diversified and was very satisfied with there work. I think that 3 weeks is too long to wait for an estimate that was causing leaking damage into my home.

In response to the member's complaint. She was informed by our representative how busy we were due to the recent storms. She was given an appointment 7 business days from the day she called in. Due to the fact that we have a high rating on Angie's List and that over 71% of our business comes from referrals states another reason as to why we are busy and for some of our customers worth the wait. At no time did we force her to take the appointment and we frequently will refer to other companies if a customer has an emergency need. We do not advertise to be an "emergency service" roofing company. Had the member inquired about another recommendation we would have obliged. I think that for the member to give us an overall rating of a "D" is an unfair assessment. We try very hard to put our customers first and take pride in that - a point I think that is proven by our ratings.
