The first general complaint I have is that they will not provide (for free) a large roll-off container for recycling unless you are under an HOA contract. They will sell you one for $75, if you ask, however. We ended up using our own trash cans since we generated more recycling than trash. However, the major problems started when I didn't receive a quarterly bill, and of course I don't keep track of whether I not I receive a bill from a given company. Without warning, CSI simply STOPPED picking up our trash and recycling. We left it out the following week and nothing. The third week in a row, I finally had some time to call to find out what was going on. I left a message. The dispatcher called me back the next day and said that we hadn't paid our bill. I told him that if they would SEND me a bill, I'd be happy to pay it. At this time, I provided my credit card information to get on auto-pay so it wouldn't happen again. The following week, they picked up our recycling, but not our trash. We called again. They told us they were sorry, they'd be out the next week to get our trash. Still no trash pickup. Yet another week after THAT, they STILL didn't pick up after being called multiple times and being warned that we would cancel. My husband called and spoke with Ashley and even suggested that maybe they changed our pickup day without telling us. They made no indication that it was the case. Finally, my husband called again and told them that they needed to come get our trash and our bins because we were cancelling. I received a phone call from Sylvia, indicating that our trash pickup was Monday and our recycling was on Thursday. I explained that we had asked multiple times, and we were always told that both were on Thursday. She insisted that it was on Monday, and they would get our pile of trash on Monday and pick up the bins within the next couple of weeks. Within a couple of minutes, Sylvia called back and apologized saying that it was in fact Thursday for pickup, and they would be out today to get our trash. Our bins would be picked up in the week and a half. Fortunately, we don't generate a whole lot of trash (even with baby diapers), so we finally filled up the 96-gallon tote this week (there was over a month worth of trash waiting for them). They did pick up trash on that day, along with the tote and recycling bins. Lesson learned: Do not use CSI unless you are part of an HOA, and ask immediately to get on their credit card auto-pay (they do not advertise it). Fortunately, I was able to get another company to match CSI's prices AND include a large roll-off container for recycling. I really wish there was a trash company in our area that didn't come with headaches.
Description of Work: Amount is what CSI charges quarterly for 1x per week trash pickup and recycling for an individual residential customer. A neighboring HOA has service with CSI, and I was fed up with the other 2 major trash companies in our neighborhood, so I decided to give them a call and switch. The biggest draws for me were they were cheaper, and they recycle ALL plastics with a recycling number on it, including plastic bags. They provided us with a 96 gallon trash container and 2 small recycling bins. They were supposed to pick up our trash and recycling on the same day, as agreed upon when we signed up.
