"We recently found out that this deal was done under the table between the home owner and an ex-employee who was fired for dealing under the table. Basically, both parties came to a mutual agreement to get the job done with cash and a void invoice!!! The invoice in our database was entered as VOID at the time of when material was installed! This contract never happened. There is no proof of us installing flooring for Mr. Nobarian! Shame on Mr. Nobarian for accusing Carpet America. OUR original response prior to finding out that this was done under the table is below. If this was a real contract, I would agree with the client 100% if indeed we did not install a transition piece. However it is impossible to complete a hard surface project without having a transition piece where a thicker product will go up against a thinner product.. I also agree with the client as far as leaving a message for us not to respond. That is unacceptable and unprofessional. This needs to be identified and fixed. In all honesty, I have been unaware of the issue. I will do my best to restore our clients trust in us and solve the issue in the best way possible. In closing, we have been in business for a very long time (over 35 years of experience) and if our service and standards were not of the highest level, we would not last as long as we have. In some cases, the job does not go as planned or is not done smoothly and to the client's satisfaction, and this always upsets us. We always try to find a way to solve the problem to make sure everyone is happy. But, we cant be perfect! I greatly apologize to the client for the inconvenience."
One of the most important thing about Carpet America is that they have lots of samples from any brand of any kind of flooring stuffs.
"Salesman had atleast one visit per day until the project was complete and no issues were ever brought to our attention. There were no complaints regarding the project before, during, or after work was complete. We will work with any concerns with our clients and do our best to solve any issues that have been brought to our attention."
A few months later we noticed large gaps in the flooring. Pretty soon you could stick one or two quarters between the boards and you could see the staples/nails they used to secure the boards to the subfloor. We asked them to come back out and inspect it which they promptly did.
We were told that some shrinkage and expansion was normal, but that ours flooring was definitely shrinking too much. They offered to use wood fillers, but we did not want wood filler come up between the cracks. We had already seen patches where they used some wood filler and it was coming up after a matter of weeks.
After several more complaints Carpet America tried to file a claim with the manufacturer of the wood. The manufacturer sent an independent adjuster out to analyze the wood flooring and take measurements. He sent a report to the retailer and manufacturer, but ultimately they ended up blaming each other. Meanwhile we are stuck with a floor that looks terrible and they have yet to rectify the situation almost 3 years later.
Mo and Nema from Carpet America keep dragging their feet. They come out to inspect, send us reports, and say that they will work with us. We even had them estimate the upstairs because we plan to put hardwoods up there too. But even the promise of new work has not been enough motivation to get them to fix our flooring. Overall we are extremely dissatisfied and would not recommend this retailer.
"This is the accurate information and true answers regarding this project. We have official evidence from the manufacturer's private inspector, and a confirmation from another inspetor that the problem is ONLY due to the moisture content of the house. It is considered a site problem. The product is not defected and there were no installation issues. We completely disagree with this complaint for the simple fact that the only problem that exists is coming from the house. We only proceeded to get help out of courtesy for an existing client. We value our clients dearly. But in this case this was never our fault nor was there any issues with the product. It is very unfortunate to experience this kind of an issue, but we tried to fight the result of an inspection for our client. At the end, our hands were and are completely tied in getting a resolution for this matter. There is only one resolution to the problem and that is that the home owner needs to readjust the moisture level of their home. The last issue not mentioned in this report is that the client has a copy of the report, and they can hire as many as inspectors as they want and still get the same answer, We do not like to look at this situation with this view but it is the absolute truth behind this project."
