We’ve used Joel, the Solar Doctor, for many years now. We had a 30 year old water heating system, consisting of a solar tank and a natural gas tank. We needed to replace both. The job was finished on 11/8/2019. Excellent job done. He was honest and sincere. He answered all my questions, to my satisfaction. His price was good. He was professional, organized, very knowledgeable and experienced, courteous, patient, friendly and open. He cleaned up the worksite well, both during and after the job was finished. He was very responsive to phone calls and texts, before, during and after the job. The job took a little longer than expected, since the Solar Doctor was also very busy with other clients. But it was well worth the wait! I am very satisfied with him. I feel I am in good hands with him. I feel that I can trust him to do a great job, at a fair price. I would hire him again!

Due to storm damage, we had to have our roof replaced. To do this, we had to have our Solar Panels removed. The company that did the original installation could not do it for several months. The General Contractor handling our entire project had worked with American Solar Enterprises LLC on other projects and was able to get them to do the work we needed. Joel, the owner of the company and the crew that worked with him were impressive. Any questions we asked were answered in an easy to understand way. They were all polite and easy to work with while they were at our house for 3 days. We had cleaned out our garage so the panels could be stored on premises, but there were some items that needed to be moved that were too heavy for me to handle. They moved them to our front porch and moved them back when the work was done. I’m not going into anything to do with expenses as that was all handled thru the General Contractor & our Insurance Company. We would highly recommend American Solar Enterprises LLC to any friend or family member looking into having solar panels installed.

Everything went perfectly. I emailed the company concerning our neglected solar panels and Joel was quick to answer. He came out and inspected the panels and took pictures so we go see what needed to be done. He made some repairs on his first visit and sent us an appraisal on the work that needed to be done. The appraisal was very reasonable and Joel answered any questions we had. The work was completed in one afternoon and that meant going onto the roof replacing wood the panels sit on that were rotten and redoing wiring and removing a solar panel that was damaged. They also had to go into the attic to check out the water collection unit. Joel was a true professional and very knowledgeable. We would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a Solar company. We are so happy to have our solar system working again.

Went great.  Very thorough, meticulous, clean and neat, Work done as quickly as anything like this can go.   Joel and his colleagues are fine people and I was really happy to work with them.  Joel gave us lots of different options. My house is now almost completely solar powered which has been a goal of mine.

So pleased to find a company that really understands and is able to properly service my solar hot water system. The company that installed it is out-of-business and this company has been around for decades. They did a great job inspecting and tuning up my system, and explained what they doing, how the system worked and what condition it was in. Also dissuaded me from an expensive upgrade, which I thought was nice.

American Solar has been taking care of our Solar System since it got installed in the 1980's. Joel and his crew are professionals with a profound understanding about solar systems. Their service has been purely outstanding. The system has worked flawlessly all these years providing us with hot water and reducing our electric bill significantly. This particular project entailed removing the panels for house renovations including a new roof. Joel and his crew did a complete refurbishing of our solar system but kept all good working parts like the pump which is still working great after all these years. Our solar system is now working like a brand new system with a new controller, new fluids, etc. The quality of their work is impressive. All their plumbing and lines are installed neatly and their systems are located in such a way as not to waste storage space.

It was an overall good experience and I would recommend Joel and his team any time.

It was the beginning of my 3rd pool season since we bought our house and I knew our pool's ambient daytime temperature was round 78-80 degrees. Which would be fine for adults but I have two small children and last summer they didn't like getting into the pool because it was pretty cold. I didn't have an existing gas or electric pool heater and wanted to consider my options. My pool maintenance professional mentioned in passing one day about solar pool heating. I looked on Angie's List and found one provider. I found Joel Griggs and American Solar Enterprises via a google search and landed upon his website. I got two quotes, one from Joel and one from another solar services company. I'm the type of homeowner who wants to know everything about projects that I can't do myself and have to hire a contractor to do for me. Joel was more than happy to entertain my countless questions both before he was hired and as the project was being worked. He was always prompt in
returning my calls. Since Joel's small business is still establishing it's digital footprint, Joel provided me with a list of references to call. I talked to 3 people who all had different sorts of work done to their solar pool or solar heating systems. All had glowing comments about him and his father (Joel took the business over from his father a few years ago). If you need a solar pool or solar heating system for your home I have complete confidence that American Solar Enterprises is the company
you need. Note that our pool hit a high of almost 95 degrees at the hight of the summer and I'd say on average has been 10 degrees above ambient water temperature.

Here are things that I loved about working with Joel on this project:

1. I called Joel to schedule an estimate and he was able to come to my house within a few days. He said it would take about an hour.
2. At the estimate Joel explained a bit about solar pool heating and gave me some written materials to look over that went over how solar pool heating works and gave information about the company he uses for his solar pool collectors. I was impressed at the estimate work because Joel did a complete work up of what the technical solution would be to install a solar pool heater. Joel and his helper were on my roof for probably at least 30 minutes taking all kinds of measurements such as the dimensions and pitch of my roof, a solar sensor reading to gauge solar efficacy, and measuring for plumbing lengths needed. After the work on the roof Joel made more measurements around the pool and took note of surroundings that might effect the amount of sun the pool and roof get vice the time in the shade (i.e the large tree in my backyyard).
3. Within the next day or so Joel worked up a schematic of the proposed install and an estimate quote. A day later I realized that how he had planned to do the plumbing (around the side of my house so that it would be gravity driven drainage) wouldn't work because I wanted to keep that side of the house free since we may plan a renovation later. Joel quickly recalculated his estimates and provided a new schematic to reflect that the plumbing would go up and over the roof vice around the side of the house. Joel was good about communicating both via email and phone.
4. I also have an existing pool automation system. Joel was more than willing to take a look and plan to include in my quote the parts needed to make the solar pool heating controller work with my pool automation system. I liked this alot because the other company was not so willing to investigate my existing electronics and preferred instead to offer me the controller they always install. Once I decided to go with Joel's estimate I gave him the manuals for the automation system and he made sure to read them over to know exactly how he'd need to install the controller and make it work with my electronics.
5. Initially Joel's estimate came in higher than the other company. I inquired and Joel was able to match the other estimate within a margin of variance. I was impressed because as a small business owner I was not sure he'd be able to match the price of the larger company. We had some other back and forth on my concern of the price since the project was higher than I expected. Joel explained to me how he got his calculations to determine how many solar collectors would be needed on my roof to gain the 10-15 degree expected temperature rise above the pool's ambient temperature out of a solar pool heating system.
6. Once I decided that my budget for the project needed to rise and I decided to go with American Solar Enterprises, Joel was willing to swing by my house to pickup the signed contract and the 1/2 down payment.
7. Work started the next week. It was a rainy week and Joel worked hard to get the system up and running in the dry period that week (most of the work had to be done when things were dry because of the holes that needed to made in the roof to secure the solar collectors to the roof).
8. Once the system was up and running Joel gave me a complete run down of how everything worked and what to expect of the system.
