Plumbing
The bad:
We had problems that I feel a professional plumber should not have had. Out of 13 cutoff valves, we had 3 leak due to cracks in the valve. Joe insisted it was poor quality parts. I believe they were overtightened. One sink had leaking water lines, which I believe should have been better tested prior to his departure. One brand new toilet would run-on, which turned out to be a manufacturer defect, but should have been tested. The shower pan was not anchored to the wall properly, resulting in a tile tear-out and delays. The trap on one sink was not secured and leaked. Finally, one toilet leaked from its wax ring. When he replaced it, he saw the ring fault but didn't know how it happened.
The good:
Joe made good on all problems. He promptly came and fixed everything, and was very apologetic and embarrassed. He is a nice guy. I can't help but like him.
Conclusion:
I don't know. I feel like I could have made those mistakes myself, but I hired a pro to prevent them. I guess there was no lasting damage done, and he made good. So he is an honest provider.

Plumbing
My water company sent a man to my house to tell me I had used 94,000 gals of water so far this month. We found the leak in my crawl space, gushing out. The water company man shut off the main outside valve.
I called Joe Schroers, a solo plumber I have known for 20 years. I said to him in a voice message that I had an emergency. Joe showed up within an hour, in the middle of his work day. He assessed the situation, and told me the space should be pumped out. I rented a sump pump at a nearby rental store, he placed it, and after about an hour of pumping, most of the water was out of the crawl space.
As he climbed out of the space, he announced he had already replaced the offending piece. The old one in his hand showed the metal had split, from age. (The house is about 21 years old). So, in the space of an hour or so, Joe had come quickly, replaced the valve, and drained the crawl space.
He charged me $180.00 for all. I couldn't believe how little that was. He is completely honest, extremely knowledgeable and competent, and is always there when I call him. He is a jewel.

Plumbing
He has a privately owned small business; it's not one of the big companies. He provides general type of plumbing services. He runs his ads in the Catholic Church bulletin and I found him through that. He's reliable and he knows what he's doing in general plumbing like leaking faucets, plumbing, leaking pipes and so on which is what most people need. His price has been fair and it's certainly a good price for him to come. He's responsive because I call him and he comes. He's very punctual. The several times that I've had him come, if he has had another job and he was going to be late, he has called and told me that he would be late. He's very professional and he cleans up everything and does a great job.
