Scott was timely in providing an estimate and good about following-up and staying in touch prior to the project.  The day of the project, things did not go well.  We paid for the company to rent a bobcat (because they didn't own one) to get the back yard regraded and level, but the crew member using it seemed frustrated the entire time and was not doing a very good job of leveling the yard, particularly our instruction to dig out the dirt at a higher level near the house and use it to level off the rest of the yard. I kept repeating that more needed to be moved, and it wasn't being leveled off enough as we had discussed at the time of the estimate, and they knew I was frustrated.  I had to have my husband speak to them by phone and he asked them to do as much as they could, but when he got home, it was clear that much more could have been done, as had been asked of them.  We ended having to bring more dirt in afterwards to fix the leveling at the back of the house ourselves, because they did not do what was discussed.  I also found it very unprofessional that the entire crew smoked cigarettes continuously throughout the day, not only on breaks, but while working and then their cigarette butts were everywhere.  They were suppose to put down 2600 square feet of sod, but did not put anywhere near that amount down.  I had to buy more later to fill in even though we had already paid for more than we got that day.  The quality of the sod did not seem great  either.  Anytime I've bought sod from a nursery, it's been cut fairly level, but this was not.  There were sections that easily broke apart because there was no dirt backing or anything else to hold it together.  So as it has settled, the yard has now has lots of holes, divets, and uneven spots in it.  We ended up having to buy more sod to finish sodding around a new patio, and we didn't have this problem at all with the area we sodded.  We could have saved at lot of money and done a much better job had we done it ourselves.  We took a chance on using someone who wasn't yet rated and it cost us time, money, and much frustration.
