First of all i want to say I love my kitchen counters but there were many issues along the way so I want to break my experience down into multiple parts.
-Planning was very easy, went in picked out what I wanted (not what I got but we'll get to that), the measurements were done a couple of days later.
-Pre-execution is where the problems started, a week after the measurements were taken, nothing, the deposit cleared my bank but silence. I would call the office and Sheila would answer (very nice lady) but she would tell me Fred would call me later. Finally about a week and a half after measurements Fred finally called, as I was told the granite yard (United Granite, not much good to say about them) needed to delay the project 2 weeks to get proper measurements around a post in my kitchen, Fred said that they would remove the old counter get more proper measurements install 2/3 of my counters (the area unaffected by the post) and bring the last piece in the following day. Not as easy as i hoped but I was willing to accept that, scheduled start date Aug 31st. They call and schedule a time with me the Friday before, between 3-5 pm
-August 31st
They come (at around 10am, glad someone was home) and take out my old counter tops, get their measurements. Considering what Fred had told me I thought that they would be back between 3-5 to install the 2/3 of new counters. Call Fred at 5. He tells me I was mistaken that they aren't going to be installing anything the 31st, they would be back the following day to install the counters. Ok, makes sense to not make multiple trips. I get home and everything in mostly cleaned up except the old sink is in the middle of my driveway. Fred promises he'll come get it that evening.
-September 1st
My mom is at the house, waiting. I had planned to be home early for installation, mostly because I wanted to see how the work was done, so I leave work at the planned time figuring they will get there while I'm driving. Finally get back in cell phone signal, call my mom, nobody was came, nothing. Figuring Fred will have an answer about the schedule and the store is on my way home, I stop in. Sheila greets me, when i say who I am am she gets a very strained look on her face, says she will try to call Fred so he can talk to me. She calls Fred, voicemail. I say I will wait. She keeps trying to get a hold of Fred keeps getting a voicemail, sends texts. After about an hour he finally calls back. He says he will try to get a hold of John from United Granite to figure out what is going on. another hour, Fred calls back and says that United Granite has not even ordered my slab yet, they will "try" to send a crew to go pick one up from another yard. This is where i start getting irritated, at this point I am not mad at Kitchens For You but United Granite. Fred tells me he will get in touch with John (who happens to be the owner of United Granite) and have him call me. Eventually he calls and gives me the standard apology, tells me they are going to try and get my slab but it will be a couple of days at earliest probably next week they might get to install it (keep in mind they took apart my kitchen already) I'm irritated and ask what quartz did he have in his possession right now that could be cut and installed tomorrow. He named off a few; I was in the showroom so I could see what they all looked like. He named one that I liked. I told him use that. He seemed happy I wasn't demanding he magic something out of thin air. I was going to get a counter, everybody is happy-ish. John couldn't give me a schedule but said morning. He promised he would call ahead to make sure someone was available.
-September 2nd
-Having minimal faith at this point, constant text contact with my mom, she has places to be that day. No one associated with the counters text or call me. Around 10, the granite people show up with my counters (glad someone called, not) they get the counters installed, my mom said they were really nice. They finish around noon. Great, now we just need the plumber to get there and we are golden. I call Fred to ask when the plumber will be there, no answer. Call Sheila, she doesn't know. My mom has a hungry infant and a bored 8 year old, she makes the decision to go to the grocery store, while she is the check out line, the plumber (my mom said he was great) calls me saying he is in front of my house and no one is home. I call my mom she rushes home. Call the plumber back, he laughs and say no rush he'll wait. He gets my new sink hooked up. Everything works. I call Fred, tell him I am satisfied with the installation. He tells me to come in the following week to do final payment, he wanted to do some kind of credit back because of how bumpy everything went. I remind him of the old sink still in my driveway, he says he will come and get it that evening.
-September 7th
Fred wasn't in the office
-September 9th
Fred is there, we work out a $200 dollars credit back, but oops I forgot my checkbook, tell him my mom will drop the check off the next day. Remind him about the sink still in my driveway. He promises he will get it that evening.
-September 10th
My mom drops the check off that morning. I get home that evening, sink is still there. Call Fred, says is is on his way to come and get it right then
-September 11th
Sink is still there, I call, connects and immediately the line hangs up. Now I am irritated. My husbands gets the phone number, he calls, Fred answers. I don't know what was said but in the end I still have a sink in my driveway and am pretty sure that I am going to have to dispose of it myself.
The quality of the product and the craftsmanship are great but scheduling issues, lack of follow-up, and promises not delivered made this a much more stressful experience that I could recommend to anyone. I don't know who was a fault with the counters not being ordered but someone from Kitchens for You should have made sure things were ready to go a head of time or at the very least called me when there was an issue. If you say you are going to pick something up, then do it, don't just start hanging up after the final check clears.
