Worst experience I've ever had. To begin with he never showed up on time for anything and never listened. Even after multiple requests for a contract he never provided a written contract. On day of the pour provided a 1 line order written on another company's order form that simply stated 15x21 stamped concrete patio. When he came back the day after the pour to collect his final payment I informed him that the work was unacceptable and I was going to have my insurance look at it and get quotes from others to fix it. I did not believe at this point that I could trust him to do the right thing. Mr. Dotson now does not respond to phone messages.
Description of Work: Mr. Dotson was to install a stamped concrete patio with a 10x10 section to be perfectly level for a hot-tub installation. The patio installed was 15x21 to size and even after multiple reminders that it needed to be level in the 10x10 section, when I arrived home they were finishing and I discovered it was not level with a 7" slope across the 15 foot and a comparable slope in the 10x10 section. I complained and his solution was to level the 10x10 by pulling concrete from the high side so there was a resultant 3 inch dip in the patio - clearly a safety hazard. After multiple complaints I refused to pay him the final installation but was unable to recover the $2,500 already paid. I had to have the patio removed and replaced by another contractor who provided very professional services and met all specifications. The new contractor did everything right that was not done by Dotson. New Patio Contractor Dotson Removed the old patio without destroying my yard In excavating for patio he dumped all debris in my back yard Framed the Patio to ensure level Framed the patio without even using a level Put in a gravel base No gravel base by Dotson - said it was not required Put in re-bar and tied with wire ties Put in re-bar - not tied together Put in expansion material between patio and house No separation between patio and house Put in drain pipe to carry downspout away from house No drain pipe Put up plastic shield to protect siding during pour No protection left bad stains that took hours to clean Hauled away all debris and left area clean Broke my wheelbarrow dumping debris into my yard Cut expansion joints and finished sides No intention to cut joints or finish sides Sealed patio Said he would seal but fired him first
