The purchase of a door turned into a 45 email, 40+ phone call, month-long fiasco. I can laugh about it now but trust me, I'll never order anything again from TW Perry, which is too bad. I would normally want to support a local, non chain supplier. With this one experience though, I'm done. With measurements supplied by the contractor, the door they delivered was not the right size and couldn't be installed. Annoying, but not a problem... We all make mistakes, and the sales rep was at least responsive (although I had to keep after him for updates constantly). The next 3-4 weeks we went back and forth between the sales team and the and quot;vendorand quot; who apparently did not ever get around to fixing the frame to make it fit. They clearly do not prioritize regular customers and only take care of large volume jobs for contractors. Bottom line: if you are planning on buying something for a project and aren't a contractor with volume orders, be prepared to be shuffled around and for your order to not be a priority.
Description of Work: I ordered a front door from the special projects team in Chevy Chase.

It is a relief to deal with a lumber/building supplies company and not feel the need to apologize for asking a dumb homeowner's question or apologize because I am not a contractor with a corporate account. I ended up at TW Perry's Springfield lumber yard after receiving not uncharacteristic indifference from Smoot Lumber. Perry had a larger selection of sizes of treated lumber. They were ready to help me load my purchase onto my car, but when they saw the amount of lumber, they offered to deliver it the next day at an extraordinarily reasonable price. It was a spontaneous offer. With most if not all other yards, my order would have been below the minimum for home delivery, or I would be charged a higher base fee and would have to pay a surcharge for delivery in DC. The selection of hardware at Perry is limited and the location is a bit out of the way. Their prices are equal or superior to Home Depot and Lowes, and the lumber is in better shape. I would use them for all my purchases if they had more extended evening and/or weekend hours. They do, however, stay open a bit later than most other lumber yards.
