All the personnel, from the owner Bill Mallon to the tradesmen were polite, respectful, honest and professional. We are very pleased with the outcome of our project and highly recommend TLC as a company that is worthy of the highest recommendation of five stars!
For example:
I was told to go pick out tile, which I did at the company they work with. I was told by the company it would be in within two days, however they did not place the order for the tile until the next week.
I ordered the counter the same day I ordered my cabinet. I was then told weeks after the project started and the cabinet was in place to go to a different place and pick out the counter. When I took more time off of work to do so, despite having already done this, they did not have what I wanted. I picked out the entire colors of the bathroom to coordinate with this counter. I called around various companies to locate a remnant and located one in Baltimore where I was prepared to take more of my time and drive there and get it. Fortunately, a remnant did turn up with my original choice, but that was a 1 week delay and many phone calls and internet searches later. I am not a project manager, but acted as one in this regard.
We had someone come to measure for the shower door. The mirror was from the same company, but not measured the same day, nor ordered the same day, again a delay.
We had an unusual size heating grate, but the tile guys were not informed about the size, therefore we had several weeks delay while they had to come back and re-cut the tile.
We attempted to contact our point of contact, the owner, the last weeks before they completed the project. Whereas before he was responsive, this time, three phone call messages went un-returned.
After the final, two small things were completed in the bathroom in June, we heard nothing from them until they requested payment in October 2014.
Does the bathroom look beautiful? Yes, it is. However, we would not recommend them again due to the poor, disorganized management.
Bill Mallon worked closely with us on every single detail of the design, including how the windows would be arranged. His employees started destroying our old deck literally the day after we signed the contract. Work progressed smoothly with very few breaks. Everyone working on the project was very professional and exacting in their work. At the same time we had to have a new heating and cooling unit installed because the one we had was failing and we also needed a bigger one. Even though we paid for that separately, Bill also helped the contractor figure out how to put in the ductwork, which was extremely complicated. The electrical, flooring and painting contractors that worked for Total Living Construction also did a fantastic job.
