Sohn Home Improvement is licensed, insured, and does not outsource its business. Services include energy efficient siding, windows, and doors; trim, shutters, gutters, down spouts, roofing, decks, and outside light fixtures. My house was built in 1973. Over the years, I installed front and side landscaped gardens, a custom-built brick paver drive way and walk way, two back yard patios, a new roof and repainted the shutters every few years. The house looked good, but I realized that I needed to replace the siding, windows, shutters, and doors before it started to look faded and run-down. I also needed to replace my wood deck. I looked at houses in the surrounding neighborhoods and focused on siding color, windows, shutters, and entry way doors. I talked to my neighbors who had work done to their houses, read home improvement reviews on Angie's List, researched flyers and bulk mail ads and ultimately elected Sohn Home Improvement to do the work on my house. Mr. Jung Sohn met with me on a Saturday afternoon and we had a good discussion on the options available today concerning siding, windows, and doors. There was no pressure to make a decision right away and he left me with plenty of materials to review. Mr. Sohn works with Revere building products only. I chose Sovereign premium vinyl replacement windows with a colonial grid pattern in classic white and Berkshire classic premium vinyl siding in wicker with almond trim. I particularly liked the low-gloss finish and hardwood texture of the siding and that in laboratory tests simulating hurricane-force wind conditions, it withstood wind loads up to 190 mph. I also chose burgundy red vinyl louvered shutters that are fade-resistant and won't crack or warp. My wood deck was 29-years-old and even though I had it resealed every two years, the wood was beginning to warp and the nails on the deck floor were popping out. I decided to replace the wood with Trex decking, which is a low-maintenance, high-performance composite that is fade, stain, mold, and mildew resistant and cleans easily with soap and water. I chose beach dune as the deck floor color and white for the railing. For my doors, I went with ProVia heritage fiberglass entry doors in a wood frame with decorative glass. The doors drastically improved the appearance of the house and I am very pleased with how they look. I found Mr. Sohn and his crew to be honest, personable, hard working and attentive to detail. They alerted me to any problems they found while working on the house. For example, Mr. Sohn discovered a huge hole in the front of the house above one of the bedroom windows. My house was one of the last to be completed before the builder pulled out of the neighborhood. Instead of repairing the hole, the builder's work crew stuffed it with trash and covered it up with the siding. Mr. Sohn pulled out the trash and repaired the hole. He also showed me that I had no insulation under the siding, which answered my question as to why the house was hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Before installing the siding, Mr. Sohn and his crew put up 3/4 inch foam board insulation around the entire house and it has made a big difference in the temperature inside of the house. Mr. Sohn and his work crew do superb work. I have no hesitancy whatsoever in recommending that you consider Sohn Home Improvement for your next home improvement project.
