I saw the J P Ventura truck in my neighborhood and remembered how good they were, so I called. They kindly fit me in to their schedule and I was happy to have it done while I was gone. When I returned and it was so hot, I realized what a relief it was to have them come regularly to mow and trim, so I've kept going with them
They are polite, responsive, reliable, and careful around my other plantings. It seems like they have several long-time workers and that's always a plus. They bill monthly, so I'm not dealing with writing checks all the time.
I am very satisfied and am so glad I remembered them. And I've only just realized that they do other grounds maintenance - like gutter cleaning, mulching, weeding (oh my aching back!). So while I just signed on to Angie's List from a big deal item on landscaping services, I'm reminded once again how good I already have it!
Their prices are more than reasonable and I like purchasing services from a family-owned small business in our local area.
My neighbors and I have used J P Ventura Lawn Service for many years - before I started mowing my own lawn - for exercise. They've been in the business more than 2 decades and have built a healthy business by word-of-mouth and personal referrals.
I was reminded recently of the extra lawn services they provide when one of my real estate clients was getting estimates for complete lawn care, including turf management. After reviewing an estimate that I thought was high, I looked on Angie's list. Imagine my surprise to find an unsatisfactory rating, as all of my interactions with Ventura have been extraordinary. The same with my neighbors, a number of them elderly and vulnerable to being taken advantage of.
They are very flexible and don't lock you in to a rigid schedule of lawn mowing or services, as almost every other company does (I've found). If I don't need mowing one week, I just call ahead and cancel the service for that time. The same if I need an extra mowing - just call and ask Jenny to get it on the schedule for a time when they'll be nearby with one of their always reliable crews. That's because I tend to need mowing only every 10 days or so, once past the growing season. In the past, they were always careful to close up tight so my 'escape artist' dog wouldn't get out, may he rest in peace. They just provide good customer service.
I won't hesitate to recommend J P Ventura to anyone in need of lawn services of any kind. I really like the idea of a flat rate for mowing and then the other services by the task. They have a good knowledge of what's needed, but definitely aren't pushy sales people. It's the most economical service I know about.
I'm not involved in any way and have no knowledge of the people involved, outside of my personal/professional interaction with them. I just like that it's a family-owned small business and there seems to be little or no turnover of their workers, so they remember instructions time after time. That's a big plus.
