First Restoration

I got my kitchen remodeled with them. I was very happy with our experience with First Restoration. From the start to finish, they were extremely knowledgeable, professional, and timely. All of the people we worked with exceeded our expectations. First Restoration took the time to learn about what kind of building products we tend to like and found things within our budget that I loved and worked for what we were trying to achieve. In short, our experience with First Restoration was excellent and I would recommend them without hesitation. We would definitely use them again.

I was referred to Mike at First Restoration by Travelers Insurance to repair major damage caused by a water leak in my home. Mike was prompt in meeting with me to review the estimate and pointed out several things that Travelers had omitted. He said he would work directly with the adjuster to modify their estimate and he did. Mike scheduled our job promptly and Mike's crews were always on time and courteous. Additionally, Mike agreed to do some upgrades for us while the house was vacated. His crew built a coffered ceiling in our living room that is now the envy of our neighbors. Mike even threw in a few items for no extra charge and he worked directly with the adjuster on some items that were discovered over the course of the job to have them added to the estimate. The overall quality of work was good to excellent. As with all construction work, there were some things that had to be corrected but Mike was happy to have the items pointed out and took care of them. As a former contractor myself, I understand that there will always be "punch list" items and anyone who has major work done should walk through the job with their contractor to point out anything that is not satisfactory. To provide a balanced review, I thought the work could have progressed a little quicker but I'd rather have the job done correctly than done quickly, and to be fair, we chose some materials that took a little longer time to be delivered. Overall, I have no regrets and would not hesitate to recommend First Restoration for damage restoration construction.

Mike and his work guys did an OK job -- my walls were rebuilt, for sure. And ****, they look good, too! What work was performed was done fairly quickly, and with very high quality. So good moves on that front. There my satisfaction ends. This guy is a total scheister when it comes to billing. Billed for $3,100 worth of work, and about 35 percent of the line items weren't even completed -- cleaning, "anti-microbial spray" (LOL, please), moving my furniture back, etc. There was even a huge bag with about 60 lbs of construction debris left in my front yard -- no offer to come and pick it up, nor to clean up the incredible drywall dust mess made inside (so much for those promises to make your home look like it did before the damage). I ended up spending hundreds on my own cleaning crew to get the job done, and spending about an hour reassembling part of the one piece of furniture that was moved by them (not put back in place). Mike, the owner, refuses to provide a detailed bill and has admitted to not doing some of the work, yet wants to "split" the cost of the work he didn't do. No way, dude -- I'll pay you for the work you've done and file a DCRA complaint instead. Avoid at all costs unless spending hours going back and forth with a dishonest business owner is your idea of a good time. Mike seems to think that because an insurance company has paid a customer to contract out a service, he is entitled to the money even if he doesn't do the work. That isn't the case, of course, but he'll certainly spend an exasperating amount of time trying to make it so.
