Outstanding. Competitive bid with work promised within 7-10 days. Complex, steep roof completed in one long June day followed by Gutter replacement within the week. Work excellent--exactly as requested and promised. Clean-up was magnificent. Work ethic of both the roofing team (8 personnel) and the gutter team (2 personnel) was tremendous. Very happy.

We just bought a townhouse in Alexandria. During the inspection process, we and the sellers identified a new water stain on one of the bedroom ceilings and a couple of missing/damaged shingles on the dormer roof in the general vicinity of the stain. The seller's agent contacted Davis - which apparently is a company the sellers had entrusted for years to inspect and maintain their roof - to come out and identify the source of the leak. Davis replaced/repaired flashing and shingles at a cost of hundreds of dollars, which the sellers paid before our closing. We were provided a receipt for this work. Well, fast-forward two and a half months; we're now living in the home and the "water stain" suddenly reappears - much larger this time - in the exact same spot. It also reeks of urine. We call Davis. They come out and quickly identify a large hole in the roof that "wasn't there before" or "wasn't as large before - otherwise they would've noticed it." Right. In the SAME. EXACT. SPOT as the previous "water damage." We have a wildlife expert come out who confirms (1) the "water stain" is in fact urine, (2) there are raccoons and/or squirrels living in the ceiling that have been entering through the large hole in the side of the dormer roof that Davis never noticed, and (3) the hole has likely been there FOR YEARS. We now are having to trap the wildlife, repair and reinforce the roof, cut into our ceiling, replace the drywall and insulation, and take whatever other steps are necessary to eliminate the unbearable urine odor permeating the room--at a cost of thousands of dollars. Oh, and this is all happening in our unborn baby's nursery. Great. If Davis had accurately identified the problem months ago when they were first contacted about it, this issue could have been resolved much earlier and before we even closed on the property. Instead, they misidentified the issue and indicated the problem had been fixed. Which it clearly was not. Judge for yourself if you'd trust Davis after reading this review. We certainly won't and will not be hiring them for the repair or anything else in the future.

Everything went very well. Mr. Davis was very responsive and kept us up to date on the plan and status on an almost daily basis. He came out within a couple of days to examine the roof when we first called him, and hand delivered the roofing estimate in about 2 days. They were able to get to the job quicker than he originally projected and completed the job in one day. His crew was professional and hard working. They did a great job. Obviously a team that has been working together for a long time. The on-site foreman was extremely knowledgeable and was able to explain any issues that came up along the way. Mr. Davis followed up a couple of days after the job was completed to ensure all was well. A very positive experience. We called Davis Roofing since we had some experience with them (they repaired a leak in the roof about a year ago) and our experience with them then was just as positive as it was this time.

They came and left said skylight were repaired. A few weeks later they leaked again. Asked them to come back and they fixed but then leaked again. Gave up and hired someone else.

Davis roofing came out to look at a leak and wrote an estimate to remove all shingles on the overhang, repair leak, install rubber ice shield and re-shingle. It took them over 4 times to fix the roof and they did not perform the work originally estimated until after the coming back multiple times. Furthermore a person related to the job continues to call me personally asking for payment for work performed under Davis Roofing .
I was not home the day they initially came to fix the roof and received a completed work order indicating the work was done and payment due. They left a diagram indicating they fixed the leak and performed the work of removing all shingles, adding an ice shield and re-shingled the overhang. I looked at the area and noticed it appeared to be untouched. I called Davis back immediately. They took a few days to get back to me and stated all work was done, the leak is fixed and they will come out to fix any issues in the future.
A few days later we had rain and the leak continued. I call them back and they send a crew to go on the roof and repair the area again.
A few days later we have another rain and the leak continues. I call Davis roofing and they send a crew back to fix the leak.
A few days later we get rain and the leak continues. I talk to Bill Davis, the manager of my project and he comes back personally to assess the issue even water testing the shingles and siding but cannot reproduce the leak. He says the leak must be from the upper roof and has his crew go on the upper tier of my roof to do some repairs and says and quot;they got itand quot; this time.
A few days later it rains and the leak happens again. I call Bill Davis and he says that the leak is not from the roof area he fixed and must be from another part of the house. He said he will send someone to investigate the issue and help me out with the closet if it is his fault. He sends John to investigate where the leak is coming from. John spends about an hour at my house and removes the drywall ceiling in the small 2 x 3 coat closet below the overhang roof. Once the drywall is removed it is clear that the leak is coming from the roof area that was supposed to have been repaired by Davis roofing.
I call Davis roofing with the findings and the next day Bill Davis and a team comes to remove the shingles, seal the leak, install an ice shield and re-shingle (The original work that was never done although documented to be complete). That evening John calls me saying that he talked to Bill Davis and was to explain I have a gutter problem and the leak will continue unless I replace the gutters. He also says I owe him $600 dollars for the work he did at my house, which I refuse. Despite my refusal John continues to call me asking for $300 for the work of removing the closet ceiling and finding the leak. At this point I am extremely concerned because John said that the leak will continue.
The next day I call Bill Davis and ask if the roof is fixed and if I should be concerned. I also confront Bill about why it took them multiple times to fix the issue and why they had been dishonest about the repairs done. Bill Davis gets angry, starts cursing at me saying I don't know what I am talking about, that the issue is the gutters and the roof was never the problem. I point out to Bill that his company also does gutters and should have seen that issue (which he doesn't have an answer for). Finally Bill calms down and assures me that the last fix will fix the leak but still refuses to accept responsibility for all of the issues or compensate me for the closet damage.
Because of my last conversation with Bill I am concerned that the leak wasn't fixed. I leave the closet open for a few months and after multiple heavy rains the roof area hasn't leaked again. I also get some consults on the gutters and am told that there is nothing wrong with them or their size. I then pay out of pocket to repair the closet damage but still have damaged floors.
It took Davis roofing over 4 times to fix the issue due to the fact they didn't perform the work they stated in the initial estimate and in the completed work order. Furthermore I had to pay out of pocket to repair the damage to my closet. To this day I continue to get phone calls from John asking for $300 for the removal of the drywall (with threats to sue me). I have called Davis roofing multiple times asking for them to talk to John but never get a resolution.

The company installed a brand new shingle roof without drip edge - this is required by code. I asked them to come out and install the drip edge when I saw from the attic there was warping of the roofing plywood. They came out for an additional charge and poorly installed the drip edge on the eaves only. 1 year later, to deal with a leak, I had to take off the drip edge on the front of the house and reinstall a new one properly.

We received a quick estimate, and the work was accomplished in a timely fashion. Davis installed our current roof over 20 years ago, and at that time their price was very competitive and the work well done. When they made the repairs this time, they also provided us with what seemed to be a reasonable estimate of the cost of a new roof. We will consider them first when we replace our roof since we continue to be very happy with their work.

I recommended him to 5 neighbors because he did 5 houses. I believe in bragging about people who do it right. They were recommend by somebody I really trusted in the real estate. They're very exact and they explained every little detail. We compared priced but they were not the most expensive, they were in the middle or maybe the second lowest.

ingThe roof went up very quickly and perhaps, given what was said above, too quickly. I believe a 5-6 man crew put this up in 5-6 hours. I would look up at the workmen on a fairly regular basis while the roof was being put up, but I did not have binoculars, I did not climb up on the roof and get a close-up inspection. The important point is, the roof leaked today and I have video to prove it and two other witnesses.
After three weeks of signing a contract post-Hurricane Sandy for fix-up and adjustment work, Randy Davis has phoned me just once, but nothing has been done, no workmen have showed up, the hole in the corner of my roof is still unprotected. I am going to have to hire someone else. As for the and quot;guaranteeand quot; he had for the original work done after the June 2012 derecho storm, I'm afraid that he would only show up to honor it if I took him to small claims court.
Do yourself a favor, don't deal with Davis Roofing. His prices are not any bargain.

I hired Davis Roofing to repair the Chimney Flashing that was leaking
into our family room about 18-24 months ago. At the time they were
punctual and completed the job quickly and for a fair price (about
$500). On October 30, 2012 we noticed the water was coming back into the
family room (after the high winds and rain that Sandy brought to our
area). I tried calling Davis Roofing the next day on October 31 but
couldn't get an answer so I left a message. I tried several more times
over the weekend. I finally reached someone on Monday Nov 5th who
assured me Mr. Davis would return my call. Well, today is Wednesday, Nov
7th and still no call back. I spoke to the same women this morning
who again assured me Mr. Davis will return my call. I am doubtful at
this point and thinking they probably have no intention of calling me
back or fixing the flashing. Meanwhile there's a huge water stain on a
30 foot high ceiling that I can't even repair until the flashing is
taken care of.

Overall it was a good experience. It was a little frustrating how long it took to get the problem fixed but once they explained the complexity of fixing it, that was acceptable. The only other alternative would have been to completely redo the roof which would have been much more expensive and they did not pressure me into this alternative; they just said it might take a couple visits...which meant waiting for a really good rain to 'test' their latest work.

Ron Davis assessed the problem with a leak into our kitchen and promptly provided a professional estimate along with his license and insurance. Was impressed with his ability to get to the point as to what needed to be done, his friendliness and his willingness to fit us into his schedule quickly. The work was completed in one day by a very competent and hardworking crew which took care not to damage plants and cleaned up when they were done. The foreman's suggestion to add a small piece of gutter to a steep area of the roof that tends to freeze in the winter, was just what was needed and much appreciated. The crew repaired the area from an upstairs deck that was leaking into our kitchen and we've had no further problems. They also inspected the main roof and resealed around two vents that were showing wear. Ron Davis came by that afternoon to be sure we were satisfied with the work. I would heartily recommend Davis Roofing to anyone needing a good job done on their roof.

We had a leak from somewhere in our roof with reason to believe that it was probably the flashing around the dormer. (Our neighbor told us that had been a problem area for the previous owners.) Davis came out promptly as advertised but I would be surprised if their people were on our roof more than 10 minutes. Leak recurred and they came back, spent no more than what seemed like another ten minutes on the roof and left. No charge for the second visit, which was appropriate. What I assume they did was spot a place where there might have been a leak and caulked it. What they didn't do was to send some one who would have thoroughly diagnosed the problem and the cause of the leak or thoroughly inspected for other possible sources of leakage or tell us what they would have to do to be sure they had repaired the leak and what such an inspection would cost. The result was that although after the second trip leakage was diminished and did not come through the ceiling where we would have noticed it, seepage continued into a closed closet area. We eventually had to pay about $4500 in mold remediation and rebuild. We learned from the remediation work and the later replacement of our entire roof that some of the roofing plywood in that area and elsewhere had rotted (in some places all the way through) and that the flashing that had been placed around the dormer was completely inadequate - don't know if that was a problem with the original construction or the later repair our neighbor told us about; also don't know who did the later repair.

I am satisified with their work and will continue to do business with them in the future. Over the years I have had other companies try to convince me I needed a new roof. Thanks to the integrity of Davis Roofing, they did not try to sell me a roof I didn't need and I was able to get by with only repairs.

Gutter was pulling away from the house. I had used Davis Roofing for a new roof about ten years ago and was satisfied with their honesty and workmanship. When I discovered they did gutter repair through Angie's List, I called them. They came out quickly, repaired the gutter in about 15 minutes and did not charge me. It does not get better than that.

PERFECT. I call after all the trees have shed their leaves. (I have woods behind my home.) I've used this company for many years, so I don't even need to be home. This is my favorite company to deal with, since I don't have to wait at home for a serviceman/contractor toshow up.
