They are atrocious. Killed our lawns in the early spring, we were not happy about it. Bad company, not happy at all. They do an minimal job, poor company, and would not use them again. Unresponsive mediocre work, killed our lawns, and said the lawn was vandalized. We will be getting rid of this company, after our contract is up.

We use them to take care of our trees for our association, they are great. They come out periodically, we have an annual contract with them. They do whatever the contract doe, put out the tree, put out spectricide, and whatever else they provide.

He is well known, but I can recommend him for anybody who wants to use their service. If anybody called me and asked for lawn service, I would recommend him. The owner is a young man by the name of Rusty Stout. They are very good, and they keep a bunch of mostly Hispanic, and some Americans who work all year round, and the same people all the time. They are very good. We have been using them a long time, and we know some people who have used them to. Rusty and his boys are very good, they come out in the middle of the night, and remove all the snow on the driveway with a blade on their truck, and they then shovel it by hand, so it is clean in the morning. I got a call from the foreman Steve, who said they were coming out in a couple of days to do the spring clean. They are good, and they have good employees. They are not cheap though. If you want a young boy to mow your lawn for 10 Dollars or something, they are not the ones.

They are great. They will be coming out again as we did rehire them for a contract. The irrigation system in itself was about $3000 and then we were getting billed for the lawn services every month and that would be $250 a month. We spent a lot of money. We thought they were very good and very responsible. We liked them a lot.

They called and emailed to let us know when they were coming.  Rained out on day scheduled and still emailed with next date coming.  They came and did what they were supposed to.   New service, but so far so good.

CLS arrived on time.  The employees were terrific.  The service was completed promptly and with little to no disruption to my day (or to my yard).  When they were ready to leave, they told me that they were done and showed me what they had done - all was very seamless.  I appreciate not having to micro-manage things like this.

CLS has always been extremely responsive to our needs. Communication with the office is easy and straightforward. They are always willing to go the extra mile for us. Their services are not inexpensive, however, and as a result, we have decided to curtail some of their duties over the years.

They do perfectly good work, but it is more limited than it used to be because I really started giving the condition about the yard. I needed people who specialize in treatments and things that they don't really do. Martinez doesn't do that. It is more limited to removing, trimming that kind of things. They are dependable and they are neat. They do whatever I ask them to do. They are very responsive if there is any particular thing that I need or something that's been overworked which can happen once in a great while. Once they forgot to do something and I called him and he had somebody out the next day taking care of it which is basically what I want in a service of that kind. Jose Martinez ensures that things are done properly. He also ensures his staff doing the job and doing it right. I have watched him over the years instructing them on the job and I have encountered him as one of the most responsible person in that kind of service industry. He is a good guy and he is built the business really admirably. He started up working for a local nursery and he didn't care for some of the practices he saw which he thought was sort of questionable and he set out on his own and he's quickly built the business. A lot of people in the neighborhood use the services of Jose Martinez. They are reasonably priced.

As described above, I hired Complete Lawn Service re-grade my yard, prepare it for planting new grass, rebuild a small protective berm at the back of my yard, and create a gravel foundation for a shed. A key reason for the re-grading was that water tended to collect in the rear-central area of my yard after heavy rains. I wanted to re-grade the yard to make the water all flow towards the left, rear corner. I also wanted them to till all the soil, as it had been very hard packed over the years. When I first spoke with a company representative, who came to the yard to give me an estimate, he described the work they could do in detail, and estimated the cost at about $500. He said he'd need to work up a detailed estimate. I received this estimate about a week later, and was a little surprised to see that the work described now came in at over $1000. I had very little time to find alternatives, and this company had received very good reviews, both on Angie's List and on the Better Business Bureau's Web site (where they received an "A+" rating). So I decided to pay the extra amount and just trust that the work they would do would justify the cost. I signed the estimate and sent in payment for a deposit of $355. Also based on their high ratings, I decided not to take time off from work to supervise them and make sure they completed the work according to specifications. That turned out to be a mistake. When I arrived home that evening, I found the minimal amount of work done, as described above. There had been no roto-tilling, no topsoil added, nothing was done to rebuild the berm at the back of the yard, and the lawn was now covered with a mixture of soil, stones, and pieces of roots. Upon further inspection, I discovered several deficiencies in the pebble foundation they built: 1) it was not 6 inches deep as specified, but it varied in depth from 3 to 5 inches throughout; 2) they only put down landscape fabric in two strips, leaving more than half of the bottom of the ditch without any fabric; 3) the edges of the ditch were not very straight, with one edge weaving a curved path that varied from 12" to 15" off the property line, when I had very clearly specified it was to be exactly 12" off the line; 4) they made no attempt to make the foundation level, so one side was 5 to 6 inches higher than the other. The work they did on the foundation was so inadequate that I ultimately had to hire someone to help me dig out all the stones, redig the ditch to the correct depth (and level), lay down the proper landscape fabric and reinstall all the stones. This ended up being about the same amount of work as if I had done the task myself from scratch. I also had to spend a lot of time removing sticks and stones from the middle of the yard, and ultimately hired another landscaper to till the soil, add topsoil, and regrade the yard. I emailed the company the afternoon of the same day that the work was done, letting them know of the inadequacies, and asking them to address the problem, preferably by completing the job, and re-doing parts of it that were done wrong. I told them I was leaving the next day and would be out of the country for 10 days. I received a reply in a day or two, saying that they would stop by my yard to see take a look while I was gone. I did not hear anything until I returned, so when I returned, I sent an email asking if they had seen the yard and said I was available to discuss our options. I didn't hear back for another week, so I called and left voicemail messages with the company representative. When they finally called me back, we discussed the problems with the work, and we arranged for them to come out to the yard to complete the work at the end of that week. On the day they were to stop by, I took the day off from work, so that I could observe the crew and make sure they completed all the work. In the morning, the project supervisor called to say that it might rain, so they wouldn't be able to come. I was amazed, because the weather showed only slight chances of scattered showers. When I called back, the supervisor told me that even if there were no more rain, it had rained too much the night before, and they didn't want to ruin the yard by trampling mud everywhere. I went out to the lawn and found that there had been some rain the night before, but the soil was totally dry. After finally convincing them to come out and do the work, I decided that it would be in everyone's best interest if I typed up an "addendum" to our original contract, so that we could all be very clear as to what additional work needed to be done. Most of this addendum directly addressed items in our contract that had not been completed. I also included a few other items that a company representative had assured me would be done--we had discussed these items in phone conversations and emails but I hadn't bothered to officially add them to the contract, as I had trusted the company to stand by their statements. I emailed this to the company, and they called back right away saying my terms were unacceptable and they would not do any more work to fix the yard. They made it clear that they did not intend to even address the items that had been very clearly specified in the contract. I explained again, in very precise terms, that they had not completed the work specified in the estimate that I had signed. The company representative disputed my claims, but did not offer to come out to look at the yard so that I could show him the problems in person. I also suggested that I could send pictures, but he was not interested in seeing them. They stated clearly that they had no intention of doing anything to fix the poor work that was done or to complete the work that was not done, so I asked them to reduce my bill, saying that I thought I had already paid too much with my deposit, and I couldn't be expected to pay any more. A few weeks later, I received a bill for the full amount. I do not intend to pay it.

I have the yearly maintenance contract with them. In the fall they come in, shred the spring persistence and blow the water out. In spring they come and they turn it on, check it and make sure the repair and what ever needs to be taken care of.

They did not always send the same person every time. Some were harder workers who cared more than others. They were dependable and I did not have to supervise their work. I think some plants died because they over fertilized them. This is the first year that I used but I will see about using them next year.

I have been with this company for about thirty years. This has consisted mainly of lawn maintenance, for example: fertilizing, aerating, etc. The work has been excellent and the cost has gone down over the years. In this instance we had a sprinkler system installed. The work was done promptly and the workmanship was what I expected it would be. The estimate provided was for two days to install it. It was completed in one day.
