Well, other than not being happy because of the accident Auto Body of Newington did everything possible to make the repair process go well. When I dropped off the car Augustine drove me to the rental car shop becuase no one was answering the phone, and then waited with me until I got my rental. He kept me constantly updated on the repair status through text messages which was very nice.
When my car was ready to be picked up, I noticed a small scratch on the back trunk, that was - maybe there before, maybe not; who really knows. Without even asking a question Augustine took my car back in, spent a few minutes buffing out the small scratch and now it is perfect.
Great job Auto Body of Newington.....
The mechanics are incredible. Expert mechanics and body work; surprisingly affordable prices; friendly, courteous, responsive: I've never had to wait to get them to work on my car--they've always taken my car whenever I want to get it to them and almost always had it back to me as fast as the work can humanly be done (within a few hours for a job that take a few hours, etc.). Great results. It is hard to believe you can find such amazing quality at such low prices with such responsiveness compared to what other mechanics provide or especially from dealerships. I've taken my Toyota sedan and my Toyota minivan to them for about 3 years now for routine maintenance and occasional problems with the vehicles for everything from body work to an oil leak to other miscellaneous mechanical issues such as the water pump, timing belt, and brakes. They are extremely affordable compared to other mechanics and a fraction of what dealerships charge. Once they repair something, I haven't had a problem with it again.
When I first moved here a few years ago, I went to the Toyota dealership and was tired of having to wait all day for something that was relatively small and also hated the expensive prices. So later, when I smelled exhaust from inside the passenger compartment of my sedan, I thought it was the muffler and not knowing any other place in the area at the time, I took it to a Midas (chain muffler and miscellaneous repair shop). They told me the exhaust smell was coming from pin holes in the tail pipe and charged me $700 to replace just part of the tail pipe. After the repair by Midas, it still smelled like exhaust--no difference from before to after their $700 repair. I called Midas and told them it still smelled and they told me it would probably take a day or so for the smell to dissipate. I called Midas 2 days later when it still smelled and they said they'd be happy to look at it again. I did not trust Midas. They already charged me $700 and didn't fix a thing. I was sure they would just tell me there was something else that really wasn't wrong with it either and charge me another $1,000 and still not fix anything that needed to be fixed.
So, I called around and someone recommended Autobody of Newington. Literally within a few minutes of arriving at Autobody of Newington, the first time I had ever been there, they had my car up on the lift and showed me that the problem had nothing to do with my muffler or tail pipe--I was not smelling exhaust--I was smelling burning oil from an oil leak. I had some sort of broken sensor in the engine that was dripping oil on the engine, which was burning and putting the smell of burning oil in the car. When they found it, I barely had any oil at all in the car. If they hadn't found it, I probably would have destroyed the engine, which would have totaled the car. They charged me about $100 to fix the sensor and were done with it, including getting the part, within a few hours.
Since then, I take everything to them. I no longer go anywhere else, including to the dealer. We have taken small things to them like water leaking into a window in our van--it was small for them, but a big deal to us that had us worried that this was going to be a huge repair requiring the whole large, rear window to be replaced, which we imagined would be costly. More than once for something like that, which we were really worried about, they fixed the problem, literally within a few minutes right there on the spot when we arrived, and would not even accept money for it. In this instance, with the window, they fixed the rubber trim around the leaking window, which fixed the window and wouldn't accept any money for it. They've done something small like that and not accepted money more than once.
I just can't believe how incredible these guys are. I've recommended them to a coworker and he later came back and thanked me. He's lived in the area for over 20 years, tried a bunch of different places all over the area, and was really grateful that he finally found a place that was fast, affordable, and reliable and maybe most importantly, that he could trust. These guys are 100% honest. They'll find the problem, explain it to you, and charge you very fair prices, and do a great job doing it. Other times, I'll ask about something like my brakes. They've checked them and then come back and told me that I still had whatever percentage left on my brake pads and that I don't need to bother with it until some time later and they didn't even charge me for checking it.
I've wondered why they don't have cars lined up for days. I guess they don't do a lot of advertising (saves money that they can pass on to the customer), the shop and waiting area are clean and safe, but other that, not fancy (again, saving money they can pass on to the customer); and I guess their shop is not on the busiest intersection (again, saving money...).
I really can't say enough good things about these guys. I am so grateful to have them. If we move out of state, I will be really disappointed to not have guys like this that I can trust and who do such great work, fast, and at such affordable prices.
For the guys at Autobody of Newington, if you read this, Thank you.
