iAtlas Roofing is one of the finest companies with which I have ever dealt for any service. I guarantee that when you meet owner Ed Vander Hoeven, you will find him to be professional, thoroughly competent in the field of roofing, hands on, and extremely easy to work with. Atlas has done both a complete plywood replacement and reshingling of my home, and also a reroofing of my shed, both done to my complete satisfaction at a fair price. As an example of Ed's helpfulness, when we had our house roofing job done, there were some timing issues relating to the availability of a separate gutter contractor, and Ed went out of his way to bring in his crew at just the right time to make the two jobs come together. I have referred Atlas to a number of friends and neighbors, and every one has been extremely happy with the Atlas work.

Atlas did a terrific, high quality job from start to finish. They tore off the old roof, installed new roofing felt, ice guard, flashing, etc needed to finish the roof. The work included installing a new ventilation system consisting of a continuous vent at the edge of the roof between the roof deck and shingles called smart vent. This seems to have improved attic ventilation tremendously so that the A/C does a better job of cooling the house (despite replacing light colored shingles with a darker color). They also installed new six-inch gutters and downspouts all around the house (my existing gutters were too small and often overflowed in heavy rain). The new gutters included a leaf guard system (perforated cover). The gutters appear to be working well, but I am waiting for a really big storm to see how they perform under those conditions. The workmanship appears top notch and everything looks great. I almost missed the opportunity to use Atlas because although they have high ratings in Angies List, they showed fewer jobs in my area than some other firms. I got an estimate from Atlas only after a coworker recommended them. Their estimate turned out to be the lowest of the four I obtained. I usually don't go for the lowest cost, but knowing someone who used Atlas previously gave me more confidence in them. I am very pleased that I used them.

We had just had Atlas reroof our house on Feb. 9, 2012 @ a cost of $4760.00. They returned on 11/20/2012 to repair hole in roof from a large limb and totally replaced roof on shed that was destroyed by very large tree limb after a severe storm. Both experiences were very good. Great work by workers that have been with Ed VanderHoeven for many years. They totally cleaned up the site after they were finished. Ed came by and checked out the yard for any missed roofing nails or trash ( there were none) and to make sure I was satisfied with everything. I am so totally impressed with this company that I have recommended them to several of our friends and will definitely use them again when our garage needs a new roof. When Ed came to give the estimate, we had planned on doing both house and garage at the same time, but he told us there was still at least 5 years left on the garage so we decided to wait on that. .I can not say enough good things about Ed VanderHoeven and his crew.

The workmen arrived at around 7:30 a.m. They started working immediately, and by 11.00 a.m had removed 2 layers of old shingles and damaged plywood. After taking an hour to rest and eat their lunch (which they brought with them) they went to began replacing the new plywood and shingles, etc. They worked steadily until around 1:30, doing the installation. They then came down and cleaned up all debris, and went all around the house with magnatized wands and picked up all nails metal nails and other debris. The left the grounds spotless. They were finished and ready to leave around 2:00 or 2:30 pm. The workmen were very courteous and respectful. They answered any questions that I asked. I would give them an A+ on their attention details, and their courtesy to me. We are very pleased with the whole job. We would recommend Atlas Roofing to others who are interesed in a new roof. As a matter of fact, we have already had one of our neighbors ask about our experience, and we have given Atlas a great recommendation.

After 2 rain delays, ten roofers arrived promptly at 7:00 a.m. as scheduled. They worked steadily to complete the job by 3:00 p.m. when more rain was being forecast. They removed all the old shingles and replaced about 12 sheets of plywood. We are so pleased with the results. Ed (the owner) was at the job site most of the time and was the last one to leave He made a final pass around the house to be sure everything was picked up. All the pipes and flashing on the roof match the shingles which gives a nice clean appearance. We secured 5 estimates for this job. Ed was so professional; he actually went up on the roof (only 2 did this) and said we really did not need to rush into getting a new roof at that time. We waited 9 months and chose Ed for his honesty and thoroughness. Also he did not try to pressure us into choosing his company at any time. The final price was almost to the dollar of the estimate. It was a joy to work with him.

I really trust this company. Everything they have done so far we have been very satisfied with. The fact that he had the opportunity to sell us a new roof after a bad quote from someone else and didn't really showed how honest he is and that he isn't out to cheat you.

They were excellent. They give you a detailed estimate on the initial visit, which was the owner. He was professional and polite. Made me feel comfortable that he would do a good job. I would recommend them.

Atlas did a very nice job of replacing our roof and skylight and front gutter. They came in at the second lowest price but matched the lowest price from four bids submitted. When there was a problem with the gutter guard, they came immediately and replaced the entire gutter guard.

Working in the building supply industry nearly 35 years has given me the opportunity to interact with a large number of contractors. Some really need to find other work, perhaps in the prison laundry. Many are well intentioned and respectable business owners, providing reasonable quality work at realistic prices. But few ever become a standard that others are measured by in the way that Atlas Roofing has. Based on my own experience, as well as other Angies List and Consumer Checkbook ratings and comments, we hired Ed's company to replace our roof. Believe me, it's a well run, well oiled machine. Receiving an estimate which included a clear explanation of the work being done, including options, materials being used, manufacturer literature, and an extensive list of nearby references started the process off on a good note. Our installation date soon arrived and at 7:00am, Ed's foreman came to the door to introduce himself. Almost immediately, our yard was transformed into a jobsite, with ladders appearing, tarps placed over plants and on the ground to catch debris, and compressor hoses dangling over the gutters. Work progressed quickly and by mid-afternoon, the roof was installed. Ed inspected the job, including making sure that no stray nails were left on the yard. And I emphasize that, not a single one! The job quality itself was excellent, with lines nice and straight, rakes crisply trimmed, and flashing carefully installed. But let's be realistic here, it's a roof we're talking about. What you're really buying is peace of mind. Having been involved with dazed homeowners trying to correct inferior work or complete jobs left half done by pretend and quot;contractorsand quot;, when there is a true gem like Atlas to be found, they need to be recognized and given credit.

It went very well. They were very professional and they ran into some unexpected issues, it did not deter them; they were quickly able to resolve them. The house had an extra layer of shingles, which they were not expecting, because there are only supposed to be two layers, they did charge a little bit extra for the extra layer of shingles. There had been some leaking that had rotted some of the wood, so they had to go buy some wood to replace that. They took it all in stride, they had enough people that they could send some of them out to get stuff and keep the work going and they had it all done in like a day and a half. I was very impressed. It is working perfectly, I use to have water running between the rain gutter and the fascia board and now it does not do that. They did a great job. They did really good metalwork around the chimneys.

Our experience was excellent. Ed Vanderhoeven's company went out of their way to time the roofing work with new gutters and soffet from another outfit, bringing in a double crew to get it done on schedule. Ed himself helped with the work to get it done on a very hot day. I can't remember the price he charged, but it was one of the most competitive, which didn't matter because once we met Ed, we were going with him no matter what. He is courteous, understanding, and I wouldn't think of using anyone else.

Ed and Atlas Roofing inspired confidence in us. My husband and I agreed that Atlas would do a great job for us. But we did not figure out the entire scope of the project, which was that we need new gutters, replacement of some trim boards, and replacement of the skylights, soon enough. By the time we figured it all out, with both of us working full time, it was hard to coordinate the different parts of the job. WE were too overwhelmed to act efficiently and effectively. So we did not hire Atlas Roofing, despite the company's excellent competency.

All went very well, he came to our house and inspected our roof for possible problems and seems to have diagnosed the problem immediately. He knows what he is doing, and is communicative about his work and approach.

It was the first time we had used them. They were in the middle of the bids. They were a local company. They explained everything that was going on. They did it quickly and cleaned up well.

They were wonderful because they said I did not need any work at the time. I was very pleased because they could have said that I had a problem. When I do have a roof problem, I would contact them. They were very honest. They came out very quickly. He actually asked me what I called him because everything looked fine. My friends used him and they recommended him to me. I gave his name to my neighbor.

I had received an estimate to install a new roof in May 2009 from Ed, but I was unable to follow through at that time. This past July (2012), I contacted Ed to inquire as to whether he was still interested in the doing the work. Ed responded quickly to my call and said that he would be happy to do the roof replacement. Ed provided a second estimate based on what was specified previously along with some additional work that I decided to add, i.e., gutter covers. The revised estimate was very reasonable given that three years had passed from the time of the first estimate. It took Atlas Roofing only one day to complete the roof installation that followed the day after the materials were delivered and placed on the roof. Overall, my comments mirror many of those on this site who have reported their satisfaction with the quality of work performed and the efficiency of the Atlas Roofing crews, in addition to Ed’s monitoring and attention to detail during the roof installation. Moreover, Ed made himself available to answer some questions I had about the roof installation, and he and I performed a “roof walk-over” inspection once the new roof was finished. All in all, I was very impressed with Ed and his operation, and I highly recommend Atlas Roofing to those who are looking for an excellent roofing contractor.

Ed was highly recommended by friends and he lived up to their praise. The roofing material was delivered and placed on our roof on Friday. Ed and his crew arrived promptly on Monday morning and spread large tarps all around the house. They then proceeded to remove two layers of shingles which were loaded into a truck parked in our driveway. After the shingles were removed they replaced rotten plywood, installed a Shinglevent ridge vent along the roof peak and DCI Smartvent along gutterlines, Winterguard underlayment and asphalt-fiberglass shingles. They also replaced the plumbing vent collars and flashing along the walls, attic vent box and chimneys. In addition they installed a rubber roofing membrane on our shed after removing a single layer of shingles. After they were done, they rolled up the tarps in a manner that contained any nails and debris that fell and put them in their truck. Then they went over the yard with a magnet to pick up any nails that might have missed the tarps. From start to finish it was a first class job and we would highly recommend Atlas Roofing to anyone.

Atlas Roofing was one of 5 companies I called to bid on this project. I received a call back very quickly and was able to establish a time for an estimate. The person that came out to do the estimate was on time and professional. He explained a few of the options and indicated I wanted pricing for some of those options. A few days later I revieved all of the bids, including Atlas Roofing. Atlas Roofing presented one of the lower bids and indicated that we could get on their schedule relatively quickly. They did not require an deposit up front. In their quote, they provided excellent detail to allow me to make an informeddecision, especially concerning options available. They also indoicated that the price of their plywood was significantly lower (15-35%) than the other bids I received. I thought this was a fair metric for evaluating whether I would have a roofing contractor who used the plywood to pad profits; also thought that a lower price for this material meant that we would not replace plywood unnecessarily. The crew delivered the materials on the Friday before the Monday-schedule install. They placed the materials neatly away from any household activities. On Monday, they showed up at 7:30am and began work. About 10:30 I received a call from Ed, the owner, who presented me with an unforeseen issue. I visited the job site to have a better conversation about the issues, and Ed presented the options. We made a quick determination and work continued. The crew was finished by mid-afternoon with full installation. The site was cleaned up properly and the new roof looks great and has performed without issues.

I was extremely happy with the work Atlas Roofing did for me. it started about 6 years ago when Ed was replacing a neighbor's roof. He noticed I had a few loose shingles and came across the street, informed me of the problem and asked if he could take a look at it. He did, looked at it, fastened the shingles, gave me an estimate for a replacement roof but told me I had a few more years and didn't charge me anything. This year the time had come for a replacement. I got anumber of estimates. Ed's price, wonderful manner and professionalism impressed me once again and I hired him to do the job.
