Twice they have failed to show up on the day of scheduled services. Some days they come by without any acknowledgement or notification. Email confirmation for opening sent 45 minutes before arrival, not enough time to prepare pool. Does not return calls or emails until you involve Anna, the owner’s daughter. Equipment installed leaks and faceplate put on backwards. Promises to fix but haven’t shown up to do the work, it has been 3 months. Horrible company, zero care or follow through, constant roll over with employees. Would not recommend!!

Worst than aweful. Would never use or recommend to use. This company lost all of its staff and the single person remaining that is the coordinator needs to be replaced. She is the worst person I have ever dealt with in the 15+ years of owning a pool. On my repair it was simple - Jandy pump under two years old is non-responsive. Coordinate thru AHS for parts or call the manufacturer for warranty parts. They did neither. They recommended a replacement pump to AHS and it needed two parts per Jandy. I had to go out a but a multimeter and test the pump for Jandy and coordinated the replacement parts. Anna then cancelled the service work order after I told her the pump was register with Jandy multiple times on multiple days. They never called and after three weeks on incompetent service I did in 20 minutes what they did not do in three weeks. God help you if you use them - a company like this should not be in business

"Thanks for taking the time to write a review. This customer is frustrated that he was not able to be covered by the manufacturer's warranty because he bought his pool pump and installed it himself instead of having a certified pool company do so. After getting this information, AHS would not cover the repair either. While relaying this information to the customer, he was very rude on the phone and went back on what he initially said, stating that a pool company did install it. We still do not know what to believe. He has been nice enough to leave reviews at other review sites as well. See our other reviews on Angies List, Yelp, and Google for a better picture of our customers' happiness."

Jim and Anna King run a great pool service company. Last year we converted to a salt pool and the entire process was seamless. ASP is very responsive and their on-site crew could not be nicer.

I would recommend ASP to everyone. They have amazing customer service and pool knowledge. When something is wearing out they let us know so we can fix it before it becomes a bigger, more expensive problem. When our pool heater crashed right before a big pool party, they were able to get us another one and get it up and running before the party. The pool is always clean and the staff is so friendly and helpful.

I strongly recommend against using ASP for pool maintenance. On May 11 ASP came and opened my pool. They removed the cover, got the pump running, and put in chemicals. However the pump was not effectively drawing water. The maintenance technician said he would report it to their service department so someone could come check it out. In the words of the job report he sent me, “I'll let my services department know the situation and see if we can get someone out here as soon as we can.” I was charged $425 for this service. Two days later, having not heard anything from ASP, I called them. At that point, I was told that ASP couldn’t handle the leak detection, and that I should call American Leak Detection. The first availability American Leak Detection had was on the morning of May 24. They came out and discovered the skimmer line was collapsed. This cost $350. I promptly called ASP to schedule repair. I was told that they were working on their schedule and they’d call me that evening. No one called that evening or the next day. On May 26, I called ASP again. I was told that the person I had spoken to was on a job site, but that he would call me back. No one called me back. Two days later, I called Millenium Pool, and someone came out the same day to perform an estimate. Unfortunately, Millenium’s schedule was such that it was another 3 weeks before the job could be done. By the time it was finished, our pool had sat uncovered with no circulation for so long that getting it clean has taken quite a bit of work. Had ASP actually bothered to respond and get the job done this would not have been the case. It was finally swimmable on July 1. I still never heard back from ASP. Needless to say, I will not be using them again.

ASP of Northern VA is far and away the best pool care, renovation and construction company. They have been caring for my pool for 3 seasons, and far surpass my expectations regularly. We had our pool renovated a few weeks ago, and it's gorgeous. The plaster, tile and coping are beautiful and exactly what we wanted. The team at ASP is engaged with and responsive to our needs, whether we need maintenance or service, throughout the year. I definitely recommend ASP.

Excellent! I was extremely pleased with the work of James King's crew. The work I had done isn't cheap but necessary, so finding a reputable pool company is key. After 20 years I felt I had exhausted pool companies I could rely on to even answer the phone ... let alone actually show up to do any work! From the first visit by Josh and James to provide a bid for the work last fall to work completion this spring, I have been impressed by the quality and responsiveness of the ASP team. I highly recommend ASP for your pool needs!

Great. From start to finish, the team walked me through how everything worked and how to maintain things. They gave great suggestions for ways to make money, and also suggested some projects that might need to be done down the line. They also suggested how to immediately solve the problems now to buy time for when those projects were needed. They were knowledgeable, explained things very well, and gave a great price. A great experience.

We continually use them. They service our rental property in Virginia. They do a good job. They clean the pool, they close the pool for Winter, open it for Spring, and that kind of stuff.

James and his people are very knowledgeable and courteous. Unlike many other pool companies, ASP actually wants the work. So many people say they will call back or show up and look at your pool but never do. You can count on ASP to be there when you need them. They installed a new filter,pump and salt water generator in my pool in 2014. Great advice. They give you pros and cons of the different options and recommend the product that works best for you and your pool.

Only a one day wait, ASP sent two techs - both knowledgeable and professional. My pipe leak was underground and the work environment was muddy. Whereas most service techs would be looking for an exit strategy, they dove in with a "can do" attitude. The pipe was still leaking water, even though the system was off, valves closed, and lines plugged. Their knowledge and experience identified that the return eyeball jet was the source of the continued leakage. Very clever.
They replaced the leaking section of pipe, checked their work under water pressure, and were done.
This is a busy time of year for pool companies. Everyone wants their pool open "right now." It is pretty easy money - a lot easier than digging up a broke piece of pipe. I was grateful they came out when they did and accomplished the task.

We had a very hard time finding a company to handle our swimming pool renovation. We found companies that would come out to look at the project, promise an estimate and would never hear from them again. We also had companies that seemed to have questionable ideas about how to handle the renovation.
We found James and ASP and never looked back. James was able to present several options for every aspect of the renovation, giving us pros and cons, along with pricing. He is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the work. He was able to work with the plaster supplier to provide us with a beautiful new "pebble" finish that is just making it into the market. He was able to make adjustments along the way through the process to ensure the end result was everything we were hoping for.
All of James' employees are extremely professional, courteous and prompt. A pleasure to work with.
I cannot speak more highly about James and this company, you can't do better if you have pool work you are considering. We are starting on our second year of service with ASP now, and they do an outstanding job at that as well!

We are novice pool owners and met with several different companies before we met James King. Everyone else tried to upsell us on services and equipment. James listened to us and worked within our budget. He has laid out several ideas and options for what we may want to do in the future, but he understands that for now we are working with what we have. We will certainly go to him for all our needs in the future.

We recently inherited a my grandmother-in-law's home in Springfield, VA which had an existing pool in the backyard. The pool hadn't been opened or uncovered in over a decade so we were in search of someone to give us the best and worst case scenario for re-sale (i.e. rehab it, fill it in, do nothing). After another local company that had been responsible for the pool the last few years told us they wouldn't come out to look at it, we called James at ASP. After a brief review of our needs over email, he came out the next day (his day off) to take a look. Where most companies give recommendations that only will benefit their business, James reviewed all options including ones that wouldn't use his service. He made detailed calculations on what we could expect before the pool cover came off and was a wealth of knowledge for 'first-time pool owners'.
We decided to move forward with rehab of the pool and James had his team scheduled to come out within 2-days, despite being in the middle of their busiest season (summer). Three days later we went from a hole in the ground no one wanted to touch to a beautiful, crystal clear pool that everyone wants to swim in; all at a price that was extremely reasonable for the amount of work, energy and effort that went into it.
The entire team over at ASP was courteous, prompt and an absolute pleasure to work with. We will continue using them for pool maintenance and recommend them to the new homeowners once the house sells.

The owner James is fantastic.
