Auto Body Work
Our car was vandalized while sitting in a parking lot so we had Scott, owner of Southside Collision give us an estimate. The estimate came out a little more than $5000. I did not mind because I was assured the work would be done correctly and in a timely manner. I was wrong. VERY VERY wrong. It took over a month for the car to be completely fixed and once we received it, we noticed it was the wrong paint all together. Honda uses a blue metal flake in their "Nighthawk Black" paint. The paint he used was practically flat black with no metal flake. To say the least it stuck out like a sore thumb. Scott honored his products "life time guarantee" and repainted the mistakes. It took just as long the second time and despite numerous (but not annoying) calls, we finally got our car back.
It was Horrible with a capital H. The paint on the rear passenger side immediately fell off in large "flakes" which I later found out from a another body shop: "...this would have happened any time a an adhesive promoter is not used to prime plastic body panels." I was livid but it gets worse. They ended up getting paint on the wheels, over-spray on the windows and huge globs of glue in the interior carpet. The paint had run marks which could actually be felt all down the sides-bumper to bumper. Within a week, paint started chipping off leaving the plastic body parts to actually reveal what happened: Not only did this company incorrectly apply the paint. there was NO evidence of prep work AT ALL (which was later confirmed by another completely unbiased body shop). They did not even paint behind the door handles which could be felt.
We took the car back. Scott apologized, made some comments such as "that is odd!" and honored the product once more. The car came back in the same condition. It seemed each time he "honored" his product, he would show more disgust for his customers in his quality of work. I finally gave up realizing he literally was doing more harm than good and attempted to contact the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Turns out he is NOT affiliated with them and the report was not submitted.
We still own the car, paid it off and paid Scott in cash.
If anyone is concidering going to Southside Collision in South Hill, Virginia I recommend you stop by (call or email me) and look at their "work" first! Heed this warning!

Response from SOUTHSIDE COLLISION
"Let me set the record straight, first of all the customer, while angry at his wife for personal issues, vandalized the car himself (she told me this), He had busted the windshield, several lights, caved the roof, hood and trunk in and kicked all the side panels, in a obvious fit of rage. Second the car was never painted the wrong color, he brought the car back after it was painted and said he wanted it a different color. Third the lower mouldings he said the paint was coming off of were not peeling, he just wanted them included in changing the color for free, which I did. The repairs only took as long as they did because he was undecided who was paying for the repairs. When his wife did bring the car back it was obvious that someone had caused additional damage to the car and tried to repair it themselves using improper repair techniques. He had even mentioned some of his own work he had attempted in the past. He was upset that he had to pay for destroying a practically brand new car. This guy had severe personal issues and I pray he does not take them out on his wife again. I currently do work for this areas new car dealers and very discriminating local Harley dealers and I am very confident in the work we do is of the highest standards. We have won several awards for our work and continue do to the very best work possible."
