M & W CONSTRUCTION CO

At the beginning of March, 2015 I contacted Dennis Moore of M & W Construction about some roof repairs. He and some of his men promptly responded and identified two spots which needed repair. He gave me a very reasonable estimate and said he would be able to come do the repair during the time I was going to be out of the state. I said that would be fine and that we would settle the bill as soon as I returned. He did not do the work. About 5 weeks later I called and left a message. He returned my call and apologized. He said he had been very busy and the weather had put him behind. He would get to me as soon as he could. He never showed up. Another 5-6 weeks passed. Again he returned my call with the same excuses. Again I waited anothe month or so. This time I pointed out in my message that I had been waiting since March to have a leaky roof repaired he had promised to do the work and I of course had committed to pay him for his work. This is known as a verbal contract. One that he had chosen not to honor. I requested that if he was not going to do the work, at least have the decency to call me and let me know. He never called. Today, Jult 29, 2015, I called to find out the correct name for his business. This time he was home. I told him why I had called and I was going to write a negative review on Angie's List. He got upset and started giving me the same excuses. I ended the call.

I LIVE ON THE WATER SO WE GET EXTREME WEATHER.  THE  ROOF STARTED LEAKING AFTER GETTING A FEW BAD STORMS ABOUT 5 YEARS AFTER INSTALATION.  THE OWNER CAME OUT, DAVID MOORE, AND WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND HIS WORK. HE TRIEDTO TELL ME IT WAS MY FAULT BECAUSE I TRIED TO CAULK SOME PLACE I THOUGHT MIGHT BE WHERE THE WATER WAS GETTING IN.  OF COURSE, HE AND HIS HELPER WERE UP ON THE ROOF 30 MINUTES LATER DOING THE SAME THING.

ANYWAY, TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, I HAD ANOTHER CONTRACTOR, DAVID MENDOZA, COME OUT AND REPLACE THE ROOF. HE SAID THE SHINGLES WERE IN GREAT SHAPE BUT PUT ON WRONG. THEY WERE SPREAD OUT TO FAR BASED ON THE MANUFACTURER'S SPECS.  THE REPAIR WAS DONE ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AND SO FAR SO GOOD.  JUST WRITING THIS REVIEW NOW BECAUSE I JUST JOIN ANGIE'S LIST AND WANTED PEOPLE TO BE CAREFUL IF THEY USE THIS COMPANY.  ALSO, TIMBERLINE WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WARRANTY BECAUSE M&W CONSTRUCTION APPARENTLY IS NOT "CERFIFIED" BY TIMBERLINE AS A INSTALLER. SOMETHING ELSE TO CONSIDER IF YOU ARE HAVING A ROOF PUT ON.
